another birthday card came in the mail this one is from the people that own the clinic im leaving in a few weeks signed by 7 people of whom i have only ever met one "have a great year" thanks stranger it means a lot to me
>>720649 I don't think it has anything to do with me You playing and my playing being a question, mioght affect MY mental state, but with jan nah or so I feel

I would say I live in a city whose main city bits are a short ways down the street.
!C0.PerkELE

they just always have like in gen 1 it was actually poorly coded in that they ignore ALL stat changes including your buffs. But ever since gen 2 they ignore enemy buffs.
It makes sense that a crit would ignore defense since you're striking a critical point
oh by the way crit builds are not impossible in newer gen in fact they're easier. Super Lens // Super Luck + Scope Lens + Crit Move = Guaranteed crit Or you can do what I did with Kingdra recently which is Focus Energy + Scope Lens with the Sniper ability.
They nerfed crits in the newer games from 2x damage to 1.5, but Sniper raises that back up to 2.25

Well assuming the model remains constant, we'll see a Diamond/Pearl remake in 2021. Gen ... IX? in 2022/23. So Black/White in 2024/25 Who knows if Black/White 2 will be incorporated there or a later release.
!C0.PerkELE
>>720909 if theyd o BW, I wish they kinda do it at once with BW2 kinda being a DLC to it
Anno
To hell with DLC go full HG/SS and have Black/White 2 be the postgame. Only break from traditional and have the player start a brand new character for it.
But considering how much of a conservative company Game Freak is there would have to be a huge paradigm shift in the company before anything like that even has a chance at being realized.

im not really sure why i brought it up. i dont really touch it at all. im back on to mahjong though you should sign in. there were some server issues so they mailed out a big compensation reward for like 60k copper and one whole summon scroll
i assume everyone gets it, whether you were there or not for the errors
also they have the servers all fully integrated now, japanese chinese and western so there's a good queue for the matches. aaaaand they introduces male summons!
Anno
I'm not interested in male characters I want cute girls!
That's weird though, I've seen enough Chinese and a few Japanese people while playing that I assumed the servers were pretty much shared between the respective language clients already.
I'll check in for the compensation though. With sixty thousand copper I can definitely get back on my third placing streaks again without concern.
月
yeah, im not sure what the server stuff is really it might just be behind the scenes stuff like how you couldn't spectate games before if it had players from a different region which meant for certain that there were different region servers queueing for the same rooms
it might be something like that though, like the different region clients/servers all would lead to the same matchmaking pool but weren't quite parallel or something i haven't seen as many disconnected chinese players as before. i guess the servers are a little more robust

I sent someone an email asking them to start including MMPI testing in the client schedules so I could get more of them in for testing, which we want on every client. We talked about it several times in person, too. So I sent an email with a list of names and whether I wanted MMPI on them or MMPI and MCMI. I said the MMPI takes 1-2 hours, so please schedule for 2 hours if it's MMPI. The MCMI takes 30-45 minutes, so if it's MMPI and MCMI, schedule 2.5 hours.
She scheduled two MMPIs for 1 hour each. And then she asked me if I could do another thing that takes 20 minutes in during one of those hours.
I felt that I was very clear about the amount of time that needs to be scheduled for testing. She even texted me to verify that an MMPI takes about two hours at one point.
Anno
Are you going to tell her that you need more time to do the MMPIs?
The point of this is to eventually make it so people other than me can set people up to do the MMPI so we can have them done when I'm not here since I have a million responsibilities and no time to administer the tests now

>>721043 Also any of the power adapter parts you plug into your house outlet should work, but make note of the voltage and ampere rates on the actual adapter block, if it has them written on it. Matching a new charger as close to those as possible can help preserve a battery's life use.
yeah, this old stone house has like only a few electrical ports at all and they seem kinda wonky
i think my roommate has one of those precariously dangerous hostage situations with the surge protectors going on in his room too like 12 multi-outlet adapters all hooked up to each other to support all his stuff and air conditioner all off one outlet there's so many cords he's gonna trip some day and break his collarbone and maybe start a fire but it's fine this is a stone house

>>721075 I don't think I've spent a lot of time in the natural history parts of the ROM. Not because of a distaste for it or anything, it's just I tend to wander museums and because my internal compass goes all wonk once I'm indoors I get turned around easily. For some reason I always end up in the civilization part of the museum where they've got a bunch of historical artifacts from a lot of cultures. Probably because I liked it a lot as a kid so there's some faint muscle memory guiding me through my confusion towards it.
if i ever come up to toronto we should go check it out i love museums they're almost as good as botanical gardens

Yeah museums are pretty cool. We've hit up a museum or two every time we've gone to Philly. I really like their art museum; I kind of just want a whole day to myself and it some time, getting to explore thoroughly the entire instutution. Institution even.
Anno
>>721077 Not that I think we could see the whole ROM in one day but it's a pretty short walk to the Art Gallery of Ontario from it. I'm pretty sure they've got some decent stuff in there too. At the least a lot of the Group of Seven's work is up in it.
wow they have skin on their antlers?? and they just scrape that shit off on the trees do you think they feel any of that?
just walking around with big bloody sheets of skin hanging from their antlers that's horrifying
Anno
Yeah, it's commonly called velvet. I don't think there's a lot of nerves in the antlers though, especially considering like most other mammals in that family that grow antlers, the antlers fall off come ... winter, I think? If I'm recalling my information correctly the antlers are edible to meese, caribou, elk, and the like, and falling off of the antlers in winter is a way for them to have sustenance when all the vegetation in the cold climates gets scarce. Though I'm not all that certain if I'm remembering that properly.
But yeah a moose can be a pretty scary thing to encounter.
月
i believe moose are the only ones who shed their antlers but i might be wrong. yeah it's in the winter, though, as they would lose too much heat with that surface area in the winter
it looks like scavengers often eat the antlers, and by scavengers i mean hibernating critters like squirrels and pigupines maybe the deers can too i imagine anything is a welcome treat during the winter months
>>721082 In most arctic and temperate-zone species, antler growth and shedding is annual, and is controlled by the length of daylight. Although the antlers are regrown each year, their size varies with the age of the animal in many species, increasing annually over several years before reaching maximum size. In tropical species, antlers may be shed at any time of year, and in some species such as the sambar, antlers are shed at different times in the year depending on multiple factors. Some equatorial deer never shed their antlers.
Assuming Wikipedia's correct, looks like shedding is more the norm than otherwise. I'm not seeing anything about moose or other cervidae eating their own antlers though, so I'm gonna figure I was wrong about that. They're definitely edible though, and yeah I bet all the wintertime scavengers are happy to eat anything they can get their hands on.
>>721085 there's probably a reason if they aren't eating them. besides it being mostly calcium and stuff i mean
cannibalism (even if it's just eating stuff you or other meese have shedded) can be a really dangerous vector for infection it's really bad with those turtles that eat other turtles in the colony or eat other turtles' eggs that's one of the quickest ways for one single disease to wipe out an entire community disease or parasite*
i don't know the social structures of the moose but maybe that's got something to do with it they also have really sensitive digestive systems so maybe it's not very digestible for them. they can't have too much fiber or their intestines get blocked up
Anno
Maybe it's what you meant the antlers being mostly calcium but oh yeah you're getting to it too yeah. As long-time evolved herbivores it could be that their digestive systems are just not spec'd into being able to consume something that fibrous and dense.
I believe moose are mostly solitary or brief extremely tiny familial unit as it goes for social structures. The most social interaction they have is when regional populations come together in the spring for mating rituals. They don't really do the regular herd structure that you see in most other cervidae species.
animalogic is one of the better ecosystem channels ive come across i think i really like them if i had disposable income i'd support channels i like through patreon but oh well
i think im going to sign up for that curiosity stream though. i finally have a little extra cash where it's a negligible cost and they do have some cool stuff. it's not as highly detailed but they have a little higher production value and go a little bit more towards entertainment
>>721090 yeah, their antlers would just be growing in spring autumn is when they're at their biggest for signalling, and then the baby can be born in spring i don't think a newborn would survive being born right into the winter
it amazes me how suitable newborn cervids are though like they're born and within a few minutes they can already stand up and see with their eyes
Anno
Oh their mating season is in the autumn, not spring.
I love the big honkin' noses on moose. They're a good mix of adorable and goofy.
Anno
Algonquin Park's a decent bit north from Toronto. Like 160-75% further away from the city than my family's cottage, and that's already a 2.5-hour drive. There's a lot of good territory even around there though that you can some times see moose around.
月
>>721092 yeah, they do kind of honk don't they. sound like really big geese sometimes
Anno
Wikipedia says the male mating call grunts can be heard up to five hundred metres away. Imagine you're hiking somewhere and then just off in the distance you hear what sounds like a titanous goose honking at you. Would be pretty terrifying.

>>721117 well i think everyone had whistling. those canary island people just developed a more complex language out of it than just "HEY" i don't know how complex that is though. it doesn't have to be too robust to be considered a language.
whistling is pretty hard too, to do that loud like some people just can't physically do it, a lot just don't know how
the natives had the smoke signals though. those were pretty handy since you aren't really gonna be trying to chat with anyone until you've settled down and started a fire anyway. i think they used tanned hide drums to do similar stuff too, just some percussion to carry sound.

my grandma, the one i was caretaking for on hospice, even up to the very end she'd give me a birthday card every single year with two $1 bills in it she gave each of her grandkids two dollars on their birthday, which ended up being a nontrivial amount when you have a lot of grandkids

i gotta figure out what im gonna do in my groups tomorrow ive got this art therapy group now too mindfulness group is easy to come up with since that's my thing but habits of wellness and creative healing are different beasts
then ive got two life coaching sessions and ive gotta tell some parents their son is adhd and dysgraphia and he's probably getting ritalin and ive got my last group at the clinic im leaving
this week is pretty busy im getting like 20 client contact hours full time therapists usually get like 15 if they're community mental health

is it ive seen that for years really maybe i just assumed it was ironic before
Anno
Yeah I feel that's an old-ass meme.
Anno
There's a song that just came up on my spotify and I swear I've heard it before elsewhere. Like in a game or as background audio to something. But I can't place it. The artist Bandcamp says their stuff is open to licensing for other media so it's definitely possible, but it's also likely I've just heard it on Spotify before and wasn't paying attention at the time. It's making my brain go a little confused though.
i haven't heard it before but it's nice it reminds me of the frozen synapse soundtracks
Anno
The single release that song comes from came out in March, so it's unlikely I would have heard it in anything unless circumstances perfectly alligned or something, so I guess I'm just forgetting I'd heard it already. The feeling of how it's familiar is real weird though.
Maybe it played on the playlist I was listening to while I slept last night and it's entered my memory in a weird fuzzy way because of that.

>>721222 Well It did a really long time ago But now its ARmalite

Err Armalite Rifle But see this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ArmaLite_AR-15 >The ArmaLite AR-15 is a select-fire, air-cooled, gas-operated, magazine-fed assault rifle manufactured in the United States between 1959 and 1964, and adopted by the United States Armed Forces as the M16 rifle.
i see you're online tilde! are you gonna queue or is that just open in the background
i snapped back into mahjong mode i guess where i'll probably be until the next work assignments come through
Anno
I was playing a bit earlier when we were first talking about it today. Might spin up a queue, depends on how much attention the other stuff I'm doing needs. There's a lot of downtime in it some times so it's ample opportunity to play an East Round.
ive been so uninterested in it the past month, even thinking of playing made me fatigued
but now it's back to consuming my free thoughtspace i dunno what it is to mahjong but it's just got such a tangibility to it you can really feel stuff, once you're really playing seriously if you're not too serious it's all kind of superfluous though
i bet that sensation is amplified a ton in a physical mahjong game where you spend all the time setting it up and physically handle each piece, you get to see people as they're thinking about what to discard and how they're organizing their tiles (if at all) it's such a good game for people with obsessive qualities like me
Anno
And in the face-to-face qualities you also have the drive for poker faces, which is something an online client doesn't quite have. I mean there's being a fast discard or making it seem like anything you discard is a casual discard, but that's different from having to be self-aware of the faces you're making as you're watching the game unfold. I like making faces when I'm disappointed so being encouraged to poker face is lame to me!

he liked my cooking so much that he ate a second serving not knowing i only made one for each person so i didn't get to eat a moonburger but that's okay i already know how they taste
Anno
Not knowing how to swim kind of feels like a terrifying life to me.
i spent that whole trip either cooking, cleaning up, or at the beach pretty much i cannot believe how messy people can be
it was actually the first thing i did when i got to indy's house and met everyone is i was visibly uncomfortable and like "uh, do you mind if i clean your kitchen" soooo many dishes
hmm the ones you'd get at a sports event or carnival or something would be like just a grilled hotdog on a skewer with a thick layer of cornbread around it it's okay but i thiink they're kind of dry that way the way i make them is a lot lighter on the breading and a lot more focused on the dogs
im trying to think if there's a comparison it'd be about the thickness and consistency of tempura, but obvious with cornbread batter instead of tempura mix

yeah he's the fairy guy but it's hard to say what he actually thinks i think he just likes being as chuuni as possible, especially when he's drinking he likes card games and tabletop stuff a ton and wasn't a bad person
he was actually extremely athletic he had like abs and stuff and was fairly handsome despite being so pale but toe shoes are always unattractive regardless
i wonder what people have to say about me when they're reminiscing back on meetups hopefully it's at least somewhat good i can be really neurotic it comes across the wrong way a lot of times like im irritated or judgmental instead of just me being nervous
Anno
Yeah, I can be a bit of a rigid person or say things in a tone that make people think I'm mad at them or judging them. When really I 'm just seeking clarity and precise information.
Of course some times I am kind of judging them so maybe I don't make things that easy.
Though I have the benefit of being happy to be a social bystander in a group so a lot of people don't ever actually realize how anal I can be.

there's something about the stillness and blankness that makes me just freeze up it's like the awkwardness of eye contact with someone. you see them making eye contact then you uncomfortably look around and find something to stay or do because it's uncomfortable
