i was at the local barcade (cringe, i know) and my friends and i were messing with this camera on the wall that supposedly let you take pictures on it (like a photo booth, but without the booth) but it was broken so we were just goofing off into the camera and watching ourselves on the screen (yes cringe) and some pretty girls walked in to be part of the picture ok here's where the real cringe is one of them starts counting down like three, two, one and i thought it was the perfect time to start singing the icarly theme song, because the icarly intro always started with a countdown. they absolutely did not get the reference , and asked what that song was, and just sorta walked away after i told them it was the icarly theme song can you believe that i mean how cringe do you have to be to not recognize such a bop

i really like the design of everything since i played a fugton of ragnarok online i was really familiar with all the monsters mythos of japanese folklore and shinto things because they made mobs from basically every mythology possible, so they'd really go out with the themes and jumping into kimetsu i was surprised at how familiar everything was just from their visual design i could tell what their role in the story was

It's a cool time period in Japanese history too. Right after the end of the Meiji era, which was when Japan really buckled down on aggressive industrialization and modernization. Putting a very supernatural tale amongst that backdrop is some really good potential for story themes. That sort of thing always gets me excited.
i really like the manifestation of the supernatural and superstitious in early japan it's got a lot of flavor to it and really you can understand the time period a lot from those kinds of things more so than the history books it's keen insight into how people think and process the world around them

I've found cup ramen to be a spread of hit or miss. Some of them are pretty solid and others are just ... edible. I think the boiling water you pour into them is problematic because the optimal point to eat the noodles is when the water is still painfully hot. So by the time they're sufficiently cool the noodles get too cooked.

I've seen what it's like to make soba noodles from scratch a while back. It looks like a pretty high-skill procedure to do well. Eating scratch-fresh soba would probably be delicious though.
the zaru soba in particular though has to be quickly chilled as soon as it's boiled to the right temperature to preserve that state long enough for it to be enjoyed it's my single favorite dish but i haven't had it since tachibana back in saint louis. nowhere else fucking has it, they just have plain soba

I didn't make a big deaal about it but christ I forgot how bad English dubs often are. also for some reason the English dub was in mono instead of stereo. It was a dvd I got a bit over a decade ago but I still find it crazy that they'd be releasing something with mono audio then. well even though the dub was done in the late 90's its crazy that they'd take the stereo foley track and convert it to mono and then mux it with the mono english dub.

My second clinic is doing this fancy app that connects with our clients with a health coach who helps them out when they get close to relapse or if they do relapse or whatever by making sure they can get an appointment with their therapist immediately or getting them to come to groups immediately or whatever. It's also going to have a task thing where you push activities that encourage their mental health and sobriety through developing good habits, and when they're in compliance with the activities, they get points which they can redeem for real life gift cards.
It's a new app and it's pretty groundbreaking. I'm getting put in charge of all of it. I'll also be collaborating with the dudes developing it apparently. It's a pretty big project to be given in my first month of working there.
I think I might have come off as too competent too quickly. It's my first month but I've already started revamping our testing procedures, started working to develop a test battery for tracking progress for another program we're starting, and I'm working on lowering the costs of our drug testing and streamlining our procedures for that so that we don't have to send things off to a lab by pushing towards urine testing cups that test for EtG and changing our policies a little.
But they kind of started me off with an incredibly vague amount of power and an undue amount of influence, so when I see stuff I don't like, I'm just going to fix it, you know? But now I look super competent so I'm going to have a lot of responsibilities.

It's a lot less impressive than it sounds. I already know a lot about the drug testing stuff because my boss at my first clinic has been teaching me about them for like six months and I know all about how they do it there. I've probably done 200 urine drug tests on people already so I'm pretty intimate with the process. There's no reason to send off our urine samples for testing unless the client is adamant that the results are wrong, but right now we do it because we don't have tests that look at alcohol. EtG is the best urine test for alcohol right now because it goes back up to 80 hours. Our current cups don't even test for attempts to dilute them or anything. And when we send our tests out, we do it after 24 hours of them being in a fridge, so the results can't always be accurate. The person in charge of buying the urine tests we use didn't even know that she could order tests with a customized panel, so I gave her some options and told her I'd explore the pricing and see if I can get the name of the agent we buy from at my first clinic. That kind of stuff takes virtually no effort. Testing procedures is pretty low effort too, since I'm pretty much the only person that administers psych testing. There's some effort that goes into finding a test battery for tracking client progress, but it's not really any considerable effort. The test I'm proposing is one I found in less than an hour because it's one that's commonly used for this kind of stuff, but I'm the only one with testing knowledge other than the big boss who doesn't get involved in that stuff. I look really competent, but it's all easy, low effort stuff.

Insurance is totally fine with the normal urine cups. We just say the client passed or failed drug tests in the documentation and they don't ask for anything further than that, even when they do audits. It's the same pretty much everywhere around here.

i called the community mental health place she said i needed to go to and it just goes to a voicemail that says someone will return my call in one business day that was at 3:30pm so idk why. the CMH website really doesnt give me any clear information. it seems like a dreadful place and not the kind of mental health services im looking for but if it's what medicaid wants me to do, whatever, fine but i can't even figure out what their programs are or what i need to schedule an appointment for. i dont have two months to wait for an appointment to see someone
the Sparrow emergency department is accomodating enough to understand that you can have a crisis that isn't related to self-harm, like the fact that im out of state and going off my meds and need a new doctor, that i can't function to work so that i can survive, that im too stressed out to eat, that im in danger of having permanent impacts to my life out of inability to function properyl properly but im not allowed to see sparrow i guess i have to go to CMH where they'll ask me if im having thoughts of self harm and then send me away if im not if i am then they'll sedate me and put me in a room with a psychiatrist who handles like 200 different people so does a 5-minute look to see if you're ok for the day or not and i have no friends or family who can sign a release form i can legitimateley just end up stuck there forever simply for trying to get the mental health help and medications i need
How about I call them tomorrow and ask some questions about their admissions procedures and stuff like that? I'll call them as a clinician in Florida trying to get information for a client so I can get through to their program director if I have to.

I was thinking that if I call tomorrow from one of the phones at work, it'll show up as the clinic's name on their caller ID, so they'll be more likely to pick it up because it could be another clinician calling to coordinate with them on an existing client. Plus if I say I am calling for one of my clients, I have a good excuse to avoid giving a lot of information and getting drawn into an unproductive conversation about that.

Yeah, I guess that's fair. My only experience trying to navigate American public transit was Philly and even they're roughly about the same population as Toronto. Despite that their services are already kind of jank compared to ours, so I could see how bad the suburban ones are like.
Does the transit service in your region have a sort of trip planner on their website? Something that could tell you the times and buses you'd need. They might require you to know the respective stops you'd be starting and stopping at though.

Probably the safe bet. Rook and I took the public transit into Philly from the airport on the last day we were there and although we got into the city fine I totally bungled the route planning on the way back, which is really not what you want to do when you think you're on a tight schedule to get to your plane. Pokemon get HUEG It's called Dynamax and it triggers a three-turn enlargement that turns your Pokemon into a fucking giant with super-powered moves. Kind of like Z-Power moves but all four moveslots and for only three turns.
It is very cool and very anime. However I can agree with people who would say that they should focus on refining the newer mechanics they've been adding, like megas and z-moves, instead of adding another mechanic that will be carried over to each successive game.

They feel like an improvement over Sun/Moon's legendaries to me but not as good as X/Y's. Better than Black/White and Diamond/Pearl though.
