The AGO also had a bunch of sculpting and statuework by Inuit artists. I think you'd really enjoy them all Kirara, but I felt you'd really like this one.
I don't know why all this 'r u ok? Day' stuff gives me the shits. There's not really a good reason.
Maybe just the idea that all of people's issues just stem from a lack of willingness to talk about it And that if people just talked to everyone about their feelings everything would be better.
But if the event helps some people then i guess it's a good thing.
When Robin Williams killed himself, the suicide rate lowered a bit for a few months. Suicide hotline calls increased across the country by 2-3x for that time.
Having a special day to encourage people to talk about their feelings kind of does the opposite of normalizing it, though.

>>745145 Hey Moon I went to an art gallery today and I thought you might find the description of this installation kind of interesting.
ę
that's really cool i want to be a data artist i'd never be able to feed myself that way though
Anno
The actual installation was just a speaker system and big projector screen set up in a dark room you could sit in and watch and listen to the footage. It was kind of relaxing, aside from the fact that it was set up next door to a very jarring and bassy art installation/documentary that kind of rumbled overtop it.
It was a fun set of weird-ass experiences in the contemporary art gallery.
>>745153 it reminds me a little bit of a content bot i wanted to make for youtube that would generate videos from a collection of creative commons materials based around themes of the source material
the source material would just be a simple article or text document but a separate add-on which could be built later would prune meaning from other media like a sound file, video, or more abstract things like events over time
i thought at first i could just make a bunch of really bad news videos that are generated based on news excerpts from google for the day, which seems kind of trolly since it would have almost no value as a news source but that's not really the point it wouldn't have much literary value either but it'd be pretty funny
Anno
Reminds me of these goofy short stories made up of stock images that Samu linked to the other day. Just a simple little ditty and then just freely available stock images used to tell a story based around a one-word theme. Though I can't remember if they're bot-made or just custom arrangements.
ę
it looked like it was handmade, albeit lazily, to me
i think there's a lot of value in the organization of information for experiential purpose just a flowchart of the relevant information based on intended use it's something a little bit elusive to words but it sounds like that fella had a similar mindset at the art installation
Anno
Yeah, I see what you're getting at. I think Farmer was a little more interested in the individual interpretation of arbitrary information arrangement rather than the information arrangement process itself, at least assuming the infocard's blurb isn't already an assumption on behalf of the curator. But it's kind of hard to disentangle those concepts from each other when you really get down into the details.
ę
right, like in my example for the news thing, it's obviously not aimed at functionally providing news to people it's taking a familiar concept like news media and peering under the layers a little bit to experience the interactions between different systems of information i really havent figured out a good way to put it to words but there's something really enlightening about feeling the information directly and tangibly you can really sink into it hard, but our organic exposure to it is all designed so we don't see that side of it
im not entirely sure what his ideas were but it sounds like something i'd probably like
ToNAnno
>>745159 Plus I think more than conceptually you'd also appreciate the execution of it. Any of you nerds hear about the Jerry Falwell Jr thing?
>More than simply talking with employees about his wife in a sexual manner, on at least one occasion, Falwell shared a photo of his wife wearing what appeared to be a French maid costume, according to a longtime Liberty employee with firsthand knowledge of the image and the fallout that followed.
Falwell intended to send the image to his and Beckiās personal trainer, Ben Crosswhite, as a āthank youā for helping his wife achieve her fitness goals, the employee said. In the course of texting, Falwell accidentally sent the message to several other people, necessitating a cleanup.
In a statement, Falwell denied this. āI never had any picture of Becki Falwell dressed in a French maid uniform, and never sent such a non-existent photo to Ben Crosswhite.ā

This headache of mine isn't going away. It's not really a bad one but it's persistent.
ę
im going to have a horrible headache by the end of this work day there's some very severe audio problems that i have to endure and it's going to abuse my sensory organs so bad that i'm going to have tinnitus and migraines for days
as of right now my head is fine but my back is not my tendons are so inflamed that i can't sit up so i have to work laying down
>>745342 200 im going to be listening to very high-pitched constant ringing for about 9 hours straight at high volume i can filter it out but that obfuscates the acoustics so i can't discern speech and it's really important that i determine what's being said accurately
I wasn't thinking about it earlier today but we did have a crazy barometric shift overnight from cool-ish late-summer/early-autumn weather back into wet, humid, midsummer weather. On top of not keeping hydrated that's probably fucking with my head as usual. How annoying.

Full transparency I definitely sat here for a few minutes going "Electro lights? Are you cautioning me about using too many screens while having a bit of a headache?" before it finally clicked for me.
Anno
haha well screens probably do factor in headaches quite a bit though that's more of migraine business
>>745349 naw he is warning you about electro, his flashing zaps of who goes there cause migraines and epilepsy
ę
>>745348 hmmm im not sure what i might have said in relation to a contract i don't get any contracts through rev
i need to go do some work there this week though because i can get paid for this week's work by monday, and i have a tax bill as well as paying the internet bill on monday and i have no money right now i don't like doing work there because it equates to about $10 an hour which i really shouldn't be working for $10 an hour with this kind of work but i gotta do what i gotta do i guess
oh, maybe what i said was regarding teh // the tiered system on rev if you complete a certain work volume there each month, you're put into a higher work tier where you get earlier access to the files and can get first pick of stuff, so all the clients with easy stuff to do are available whereas if you're in the normal tier, you can only see stuff that has been in the queue for over 90 minutes, which good files get plucked off right away
i might just see if i can find a friend to do a short-term loan or something though because i dont know if i can do 30 hours of work before saturday evening especially considering im already working on stuff today but if i miss my tax payment im fucked so i dunno
Anno
that's probably what I meant in terms of rev, I dunno I'm pretty bad at expressing ideas and my memory isn't exactly helping right now
I don't spotting some money, but it would be in AUD unfortunately and I would have to figure out my paypal stuff *don't mind
ę
is that possible? i think paypal made some adjustments lately to transferring internationally there's probably a hefty fee or something
i don't like asking for stuff it makes me feel pretty terrible so i try to make sure i treat it like a real loan with a bit of interest and stuff helps me not feel like a degenerate but i dont think im foolin anyone besides me
ę
i can probably work it out myself anyway im pretty good at getting through insane work stretches
work has picked up a lot for the season honestly, it's just that getting paid takes a while because im two parts removed i invoice my client and my client invoices the customer and then there's a reasonable pay time in between each step so work im doing now usually won't get paid to me for 2-4 weeks
i was able to get paid instantly last time i asked for it but i dont really want to ask for that again two months in a row
im not particularly stressed about any of it though, im just casually talkin about it

I'll be taking a few individual therapy clients soon, too. In addition to my life coaching clients. It's really great. I'm so happy where I work. Kirara š
They do. Americans have a distorted view of everything.
But even so, there's a reason why the life expectancy of Americans is going down. We definitely need to change our system significantly.
Everything is artificially expensive here. We pay a hundred dollars or more for a single aspirin if we are given it at the hospital. And then you get separate bills from everyone at the hospital who saw you, even if all they did was ask you a few questions. The whole system is corrupt from top to bottom and sometimes the only solution is fumigation.

Kirara š
Yearning for what?
Anno
It's kind of ambiguous. Or undirected, I guess is a more appropriate term. The yearning is kind of a desire to have a really intense experience, but in my head there's no formed concept of what that experience is. So there's this intensity to be -this intense desire to be doing something but I can't form what that doing is and it has a way of overwhelming me. For pretty much my whole life I've been exceptionally good at sanding down the sharp intensities of things I experience and navigating towards the calm and manageable that I'm kind of lost as to what how or with I'm supposed to handle this kind of yearning.

honitsu is probably out of the question for the other two so worst thing you miight get hit with is like a ton, dora 2 from the north player
it also lets you keep the dora which is a, risky tile, and b, beneficial to hang on to you're on a solo wait for the dora by discarding the 7 but that's really fine imo for an otherwise folded hand

that's not necessarily going to happen, but id say that's like 6/10 likelihood itll end up that way if west hasn't tsumoed yet, his winning tiles are probably in other people's hands
i'd commit to that play. it may turn out that 4th tsumos 2/10 times, that north is waiting on that 7m 1/10 or 2/10 times, but i'd say 6/10 times the game will end up in a draw from that point and 1/10 times fourth is going to force-discard into somebody else's hands. probably more than 1/10 really, since i assume north is in tenpai too

i stopped reading manga ages ago , i cant watch the anime if i alrady know whats going to happen like ive read upto part 8 jojo that ruined the anime adaption of p5 for me

i became a regular in 2012 my first time on /moe/ was late 2011 i'm pretty sure or maybe it was really early 2012? doge invited me and i thought this place looked gay

i think i get it now that mysterious melancholic mood the one that makes you feel a little worried no matter how nice things seem How do I capture that How to channel the tsugu
why do people think i'm cynical or pessimistic i am extremely optimistic about most things and pathologically find the good in things
Koi
haha
Anno
>>745975 I think you've got a tendency to snark a lot and snarkiness is often observed as a manifestation of someone's cynical outlook or pessimism.
Mahou Shoujo Marsh-chan
you also talk a lot about society as a whole being fucked even if you're optimistic on an individual level.
Kirara š
I guess they just don't know me very well. Even though I've known them for six years.
Anno
Or y'know, like how there's an erroneous presumption about Existentialism being a philosophy for the despondent and pessimistic, which Camus and Satre often strived to make arguments against. People kind of stop at the front door and never think to open it and step in and see what it's really like inside.
You know, I changed my lifestyle a lot to become a suitable husband for Fish. I improved my mental and physical health, stopped engaging in pointless risk-taking behavior. And now what? I improved my life for no reason! What a waste, am I right!
>>745983 Well there's always the argument that improving your mental and physical health is good for the sake of doing it.

I've kind of had a hankering to get into snowboarding again recently. I fell out of it because it -is- kind of a hassle to drag around a board for a twenty to thirty route up a mountain for like five minutes of excitement and action. But these days I think I might have an easier time appreciating it.
But still, it's an expensive and difficult hobby, especially since I can't drive myself anywhere. Like that problem could be fixed with more money, but that's money on top of money I already don't really have. Plus it's a bit of a dull thing to go out and do by yourself. So to get back into it I'd need at least money and people to do it with, which aren't always easy to come by.

>>746022 happy friday! sorry about anime last night!
>>746025 same i have to clean the stove every time i use it i hate food residue and dishes lingering in the sink and full trash bins i have to clean stuff
Anno
Food bits on the stovetop bothers me a bit, and I tend to cook a lot of food that can be kind of spittle-y like saucey dishes or panfried foods. So by now it's just habitual for me to wipe down the stove whenever I'm cooking on it.
My coworker has been bringing her dog to work because it is really sick and needs eyedrops frequently to reduce the pressure in its eye because one of its eyes was about to literally burst. It's a tiny, cute dog. Today it kept coming up to me and sort of hugging me and rubbing against me a lot and trying to spend a lot of time with me which is odd because dogs hate me.
Apparently they didn't save the eye fast enough and they're going to have to remove it on Monday. I guess when she was all over me, she must have been hoping I could take the pain away somehow or comfort her. Realizing that, it seems really tragic.

>>746029 Pets really have both blessed and unfortunate lives. They can shown so much love and can return it as well. But because it can be difficult to communicate with them there's times when they must be in pain and we can't do anything to help them. And for the pet that must be an immensely terrifying experience.
Kirara š
this is her
Knowing that she came to me for help and I didn't even realize makes me feel kind of sad. She seemed like me hanging out with her and petting her and letting her climb on me was comforting, though.

i know a blind cat he seems really happy

>>746029 Thats really sad. I hope you don't blame yourself. that kind of realisation like is depressing.
Kirara š
>>746038 It is sad, but I certainly don't blame myself!

i told someone today that i felt a little lonely because of my breakup and they said "i've been single for two years and im fine"
>>746055 not me because i'm japanese so i"m an OTAKU
Anno
>>746056 I've been single for twenty-six years and I'm fine! It's really a dumb thing to bring up though. As if their experience of being single is equivicable to yours.
Maria
>>746056 >I haven't recently lost anything and I'm fine wow no shit

ive been single for a confusing and poorly-defined amount of time and ive never really been fine
Kirara š
>>746057 >>746058 Right? I gave them a kind of death glare. They didn't even realize that they were being stupid,, even though they're a psychologist.
Maria
>my parents recently died and I'm pretty sad about it >wooooow, look at you, having had parents. I never even had parents and I'm fine. Fucking idiot
>>746060 They probably meant something like "oh you'll eventually be fine" Which is still really sloppy
Talesof !NuKeSlvmWE
yeah, responding to that sort of comment by talking about your own situation isn't really the right response.
ę
>>746062 it can be if it's relatability it depends how distressed someone is. sometimes people really need to not feel alone and need someone in a similar state to just let it out and actually be felt but it doesn't seem like they were going for that
Talesof !NuKeSlvmWE
I wonder.

Anno

Some people just can't function unless they're changing the subject to themselves. It's a sad thing but some people just end up being really egocentric without realizing it.
ę
they might not be trying to be but are just reaching from their own experiences to relate that's all we really have afterall i tend to see it more as clumsy and slightly ignorant than particularly egocentric they're just attempting something they have no idea how to do sometimes
Kirara š
Sure, but some people really are just super egocentric. One of the people I know who does it can be pretty egocentric. Although that's a different person from the one in this story.
>>746085 I'm still missing the very tip of my right toe from that frostbite operation
So yeah. Cold can be undesirable In excess

I shiver from anxiety so I have hard time telling if I'm cold and thinking about if I'm cold but not noticing I'm cold just feeds my anxiety. I don't turn the heating on much tbh, I should just get a blanket and wrap up
