Mine's become a mess ever since I ran out of one-book-deep space on all shelves but the bottom and I started just throwing books wherever they look like they won't fall over. On top of that I've got two stacks of books in my room that don't really have anywhere better to go. Plus two or three just laying on other flat surfaces. I have too many books for my storage space.
>>630607 Precisely! I can fib once and say I'm working late, when I'm actually going to IKEA, but I need a good plan B. How will I go to Tampa or Miami if I must? I don't want to lie to Fish too much about why I'm not home. It can lead to too many misunderstandings.
Anno
There are FIFTY (50) of those shark plushies at the nearest IKEA store to me. That is a lot of shark plushies.
Their website says Orlando store has 118. Or it said that earlier.
Anno
Just get as many as you can stuff in your car in one trip so you only have to use the work late excuse once. Drive down the freeway with a few shark heads sticking out the windows of your car.
>>630627 We were talking about it, but it makes things harder for Jan to be around when he's able to since he gets off work not long before we start as is. Or that's how it was before the Philly trip I think his schedule might be a bit weird right now. Either way when we were talking about it, it created more complications to do that and as far as I can tell doesn't really bring much benefit to the rest of us. And if we can crunch down the list so we don't need to do five shows a night and start closer to midnight, honestly things would be pretty fine for me even when I'm in school.

I hope I can get the shark tomorrow. I've never been to the IKEA store. People speak of it as if it were some kind of crazy megalithic mall. That it has a million rooms and a hundred restaurants inside of it. I've heard stories of people getting lost there. I hope the sharks are easy to find.

>>630657 They're pretty crazy compared to most other stores. Definitely pretty maze-like but they also usually have a route of signs or arrows on the floor that tour you through the entire store, so you could follow those to the exit. hypothetically if you have a felonious amount of controlled substances on your person and also a potentially deadly dose in your body will they send you to the hospital or jail first? i mean if they have reason to believe you're intending to distribute i suppose maybe it really depends on where you're at
Anno
I think in most situations they'd send you to the hospital if they were able to assess you were in a potentially life-threatening situation. But they'd also ensure you don't leave it without being in the entourage of the law enforcement.
Anno
i dunno they usually have the medicine or tools to counteract poison in emt vans right? overdose prevention seems like something that would be dealt with on site asap but on the other hand a hospital is pretty secure place to hold somebody hmm
Anno
not sure why that question popped into my head
Anno
>>630793 Well I would imagine there should ideally be a follow-up in the hospital to ensure the medication was administered properly and no outstanding problems continue. As well, most distributors are not manufacturers for controlled substances so ensuring the felon is in healthy condition and potentially in a position of "owing" the law enforcement is beneficial overall.

but really dex seems like a shit way to play ds1 it doesn't improve your dodge at all and the dmg atleast to bosses seems to quite quickly scale down considering you get usually just few slaps

Yeah, that's true. There's no precedence for them to take royalties on account of portrayal. Like if they'd been fighting this in every game they're portrayed in, sure. They'd be assholes still but they'd have some precedence for it.
The lawsuit is claiming that people might think the game is somehow related to the real Pinkertons. So they think they deserve royalties or a lump sum.
>>631230 Yeah. The games definitely don't make the Pinkertons look good, either. So you'd think they'd have said something about that previously.
Anno
To be fair the Pinkertons themselves didn't make themselves look good in the first place. At least they seem to be conscious of how embarrassing it would be for them to fight that.
>>631224 Even if it's ridiculous, they're probably thinking they can get some cash off a quick settlement since they're not worth the trouble to litigate against for a company.
>>631236 I dunno, it seems like it would be a good thing for them to fight, considering not doing so could have consequences in the future , especially when making historical games. Otherwise, the historical setting has to change to avoid getting ripped off by companies like the Pinkertons.
If they didn't fight it. I imagine lots of companies would start trying to make money out of books, films and games that use historical companies or names
Ancestors of historical figures would probably be able to sue for money, too. It'd be impossible to have a historical setting anymore.
Anno
As I remember that was the reason Assassin's Creed Syndicate had few historical characters involved in its main plot and none amongst the villain cabal. Ubisoft was pre-emptively expecting outrage from living descendants if their grandparents or great-grandparents were evil people in the game.
Yeah, I think that's kind of fair that they'd be upset about that. I don't think we should be writing stuff that makes historical figures into crazy villains or anything, just as a courtesy. For recent people, at least. Just write them accurately.
But AC also has made a lot of recent historical figures important plot characters, like JFK and stuff. Which is probably a little disrespectful. I can understand why someone would be upset, but I don't think they deserve money for it.
>>631242 Okay, but that doesn't mean anything, and we all know it.

FormerRei !GURPSRWiTs
>>631241 It was literally invented in response to a defamation lawsuit from a person who had a character based on her in a movie.
Anno
>>631241 Not that it entirely removes the weight from it but JFK's part in the AC games was pretty much nothing more than a footnote. There's also a bit of malleable quantity involved with "big" public figures like presidents and other figures of state. Even in real life there's so much conspiracy stuff floating around those figures that something to the degree it was in the AC games is almost ... normal, hah hah.
But there is definitely a line to be crossed with bringing in people less in the public eye and villifying them in fiction where there's no historical evidence they did so.
>>631243 I'm aware, but it still doesn't really mean anything. Even if you say that, most people are going to see a character named Karl Marx, who is clearly based on Karl Marx, doing what Karl Marx did historically, and say "this character is Karl Marx." They're not going to make a specification that this is an alternate universe made up Karl Marx because it's clearly supposed to be Karl Marx.
FormerRei !GURPSRWiTs
>>631245 Well the disclaimer is still in movies based on historical events and crime tv shows that base episodes on real crimes. At the very least "The story and incidents portrayed in this production are fictitious" gets you out of it.
>>631246 It does get you out of it, but it's very easy to imagine that it won't get you out of it forever. It wouldn't be weird if a court suddenly found that wasn't good enough.

>>631317 Imagine science lab safety video but with the budget to hire good 3d artists for flying graphics and a horror film makeup artist to make all the gore look real
I mean I'd argue I'm extremely online too. It's just my spheres don't really touch the Whovian fanbase. It's a blessing on multiple levels.

>>631324 Because they can. This is RESPIRATOR training refresher But the respirator info is at the end of this gross safety video. Have pickaxes going through people's heads and hair getting pulled into machines Stepping on nails.
leftovers leftovers i got work at 10am can't sleep for an hour after i eat hmmmm

I'm gonna be showing up to a 09:00 class I'm not even enrolled in this morning, hah hah. Hopefully I get get in once someone drops it hopefully within the first week.
You shouldn't sleep after a big meal for up to 2 hours and a small meal an hour It's bad for digestion and your body will store more of the carbs as fat than it would if you were awake
I want to enroll in it but the class is full, and there's only one section available. But it's pretty regular for people to drop out of a class a week or two into the semester so there's a good chance I'll be able to get in after that if I pay attention.
It's a class on nineteenth century literature, covering the various forms and genres that rose to popularity in that time period. So we'll be looking at stuff like political manifestos, the Gothic novel, a bit of the Romantic period's literature. I need to take two classes on period literature for my degree and I'm definitely more interested in more recent centuries than previous ones. I'm also taking a class on Modernist literature, which apparently covers from the late 1800s to the mid 1900s. I was supposed to get the briefing on that today, but the week's class was cancelled because the professor teaching it got changed, hah hah.
Are there any new shows on the anime docket tonight?
Anno
We're starting with Dororo episode two, and we'll be doing Mob Psycho as the third, but I don't know if you've started Dororo and I think you wanted to do Mob with Fish, right. Other than that we're also doing the most recent JoJo and Sime. We were thinking of a fifth but Ika might not have time.
I'm behind on pretty much everything that's airing from last season still. I've already read Jojo but Fish would be lost if we skipped some episodes.
>>631349 The professor got changed? Did they get sick or something?
Anno
No clue. I didn't even know this week was cancelled until I got to the class, hah hah. There were a couple other students hanging out outside the class that had classes later who had also missed the email that apparently had been sent out. One of them had gotten it though and let us know the professor got changed. But I didn't get any more context past that.
I was gonna give Fish the shark tomorrow morning, but I dunno, we're up so late tonight. I might have to wait.
>>631367 I actually haven't seen the original Mummy
Anno
>>631360 the original mummy scared me when i was a kid at least i think it was that one some guy gets eaten by scarabs but they only show a black screen with noises and it made me super spooked out
>>631360 I didn't even see this trailer back when the movie was first coming out. This is the first time I saw it.
>>631366 Well if you're both up this late maybe she'll sleep in harder in the morning. Making it easier for you to sneak the shark into your spot when you wake up.

If the answer is an honest yes, it gives me a little more peace of mind. I'm by nature a neurotic worrywart so I can't entirely remove concern but I can assuage it.

Anno
I'm pretty peckish despite it not being that long since I last ate. Though I don't know if it's hunger or sleepiness or all the tea I've drank that's making me feel it.
Anno
>>631526 I've got to head to class in like two and a half hours so I won't be sleeping this morning anyway. Plus I'm getting back into drawing and feeling pretty good about it. So might as well coast on this good mood while I can. I slept like the entire afternoon away yesterday as well.
Anno
Which is to say I'll be getting food in an hour or so once me clattering around the kitchen isn't that big a deal.
