>>422000 Yes That's literally what OVA are. They release them one (occasionally more) at a time and you have to order them. They didn't air them (not initially). So to you, cop lives and black lives in USA can't matter at the same time?
Ko-Shi
>>422095 That's the joke, you know. The initial criticism of BLM was that it somehow implied that no one else mattered. Even though BLM was a direct statement against how easy it is for people to get away with ending black lives, especially cops. "Blue Lives Matter" as any kind of statement is both a contradiction to the logic in the first statement and spitting in the face of the second.
>>422096 Dnno when blue lives matter became a thing, but blm quite quickly - atleast the visible protests and such - became quite much "what do we want: dead cops. when do we want them: now"
Like, you say it yourself, youhave no idea when Blue Lives Matter became a thing. But you know of the optics of BLM. Blue Lives Matter came out of police and police supporters wanting to assert that their jobs are hard and "woe is me, the person with the responsibility of knowing when to end a life" It's a direct counter to BLM which has, from the beginning, been about the excesses in violence and callousness towards black lives from police.
They do this all the time. When they choked out, Eric Garner and they turned (BLM) his final words "I can't breathe" into a slogan, cops made hoodies that said "I can breathe".
Oh I thought blue lives matter was a typo and an inadvertant joke referencing Blue
Anno
>>422104 no it's about the police force messaging that police lives matter and that there are casualties on both sides of the issue of police violence
Kirara π
blue lives matters people are the same ones trying to incite Black Panther boycotts by spreading lies that black people are attacking white people and telling them they can't see the movie
i do criticize BLM quite a bit but not for those reasons i think a lot of their policy-pushing is counterproductive because it calls for so much external aid, rather than reinforcing from within the black communities they're trying to help it's fundamentally a community that grows from within, and external influence is always going to be disruptive and how you get so much police-on-black violence in the first place if the police forces of those communities were fostered through those communities, for instance, they'd be a lot better received by the community than external entities exhibiting authority over a community whose values they do not represent

>>422112 I wouldn't really call a marvel movie masterpiece, though
Is kinda like assassin's creed or call of duty they can be real good games, look good, be amazing to play etc but i never really would call one a masterpiece atleast the ones so far out.
>>422113 Part of the concept of police abolishment is setting up your own community methods of handling problems. It's not a desire for external aid. Externalities appear within the community by themselves. Things like gentrification or the desire to push optics of 'tough on crime' end up grating against these communities and creating tension. All the other stuff like environmental health (Flint) and such are things that... require external aid anyway. Those kinds of things are expected from the government to handle. They just don't handle them.
Kirara π
if you say it can't be a masterpiece because it's part of a franchise that hasn't had any masterpieces yet, that's kind of bad logic
Maybe, but I still largely doubt that marvel movie would really be a masterpiece.
Maria
Yeah I doubt it but considering that they've made like 50 of them I reckon that eventually one of them has to come out that happens to be a masterpiece
>>422138 I wonder about that. How many studious do they have working on marvel movies? Is it like, studio A spends a year making movie x then moves onto movie Y, or does Studio A make movie X while studio B starts making movie Y and it gets 2 years of production instead of 1
>>422136 Maybe if they had more time per production etc, it might happen. but they kinda churn them out too fast for one really to be polished to such decree in terms of all parts of the movie to really fall into place.
Anno
>>422136 Its always Guardians, Cap America or Logan...
oh right >>422136 yeah they have lot of people working on them, but they still in essence are blockbuster movies. and thus are produced in bit of a "factoristic" in the end, even if the actual team that makes it pours all their talent and love into it, the studioheads have different ideas. I'm definitely getting some warm fuzzlies right now man that's totes a good return on the investment.
I've also dealt with a lot of intense paranoia and thought spirals that stem from an inability to trust people, so I can really get having a hard time believing someone even if they repeat themselves or strive to persuade me of it elsewise, So I really sympathize with that problem in particular and I try my best to bear through it in other people.

>>422460 That's expected. Cats are fucking weird they think new noise = new thing
Anno
I don't really see how that's weird, it kind of makes sense to think that a new noise is a new thing.
Anno
It's weird they don't understand object permanence. They could be messing with something for a long time but if it makes a different sound they get freaked out and start gently tapping it to see if it's safe or something.
I like to mess with mine by moving them to a new room and putting their toy down, and then taking them to the previous room They spend forever trying to find the fucking toy that I already placed in the other room, haha.
Anno
Well it's not really weird that they don't understand object permanence either, very few animals do, and the ones that do are generally considered amongst the more intelligent species on the planet. Of which cats are not. If anything it's more that it's weird that we have such good object permanence!
Anno
Maybe it's just that I'm not used to feline behavior. The way they act is really funny to me. Wish I wasn't allergic though. Exposure to them has made it a little better, so maybe with time I won't even feel like I'm allergic anymore.

i wonder why they're freaking out about it i haven't had any kind of compulsive use or withdrawal effects from kratom at all it makes my stomach a little queezy if i have too much, but that happens with valerian root too
valerian root tbh had worse withdrawal effects as a gabanergic it caused me flashing spots in my vision and gave me real bad nightmares day or two after use kratom's been super chill doesn't get me high, just stabilizes my mood

all the standards we have about alcohol use and what are acceptable daily limits were from a uk-funded study in which the doctors admittedly had trouble establishing any good controls or making any useful interpretation of the data, so basically went with the worst possible scenario and then halved it just for safe measure and said "yeah dont drink more than this amount"
Anno
which is totally fine for public messaging but it's not clinically significant and people act like it is because nobody is in favor of people abusing alcohol but it pisses me off so much that there's that disparity that we'll just accept that something is bad and have some conservative standards in place without really asking why it's bad or to what extent "is drinking alcohol bad for you" is still a legitimate question but we're underinformed and the only acceptable response is "lol of course it's bad for you"

>>422578 What's a bird have anything to do with grass clippings

>>422581 kratom is a leaf not a grass and leafs are on trees and birds are in trees
also things like "damage to the liver" are honestly really vague the things which your liver has to process can change the enzyme balances to produce more of the enzymes needed to process whatever it is is the damage occuring to the liver in the process of that enzyme balance change? is it occuring when there's more alcohol than the enzymes can process and so you get acetylalcohol doing damage? is it the metabolization process that's doing damage? once your enzyme levels adjust to chronic usage, is it still doing damage with steady intake, or only upon overconsumption where the acetylalcohol backs up? would it do damage to stop consumption and undergo another heavy shift in enzyme levels? or an altogether different line of thinking, do 40% of drinkers develop liver damage possibly because about 40% of the population happens to use paracetamol and that has a bad interaction in the liver with alcohol?
these are all really interesting questions to me, but if i ever ask them it sounds like i'm trying to make excuses to justify consumption, and it's just "it's bad for your liver and you'd have to be stupid to think otherwise" when that's not even remotely the question
Anno
and the, "even if it's not too bad for your liver, the addiction potential and withdrawal are deadly"
public perception is so effect-oriented and it's so conducive to bad data we even set up our studies based on the assumption that the relationship between things can be derived by just comparing data sets and the mechanism through which it occurs is just dismissed entirely which is fine for exploratory work but at least dig a little deeper into it before dropping government policies based on some quantitative research

I have exited my third day of working with very little sleep this time it was because i kept waking up because it was getting too hot and i couldn't figure out why. It was because the AC was on the wrong setting. I thought I had set it to cool the room in anticipation for the temperature rising into the high 70s // my b low 80s with 75% humidity.
