They really do have that mafia-esque evil businessman look to them.
This is about a family that has a stone that lets them freeze time and move around in the frozen world without issue. Previously they all -a few of them got kidnapped by the evil businessmen as a ploy to make them use the stone, and now they're in a fight to keep the stone away from the cultists the evil businessmen lead. The black-haired woman was working with them earlier to get in contact with the family but now she seems to be their friend since she got the main character, the girl with the brown hair, to free her brother from the giant monster he'd become a part of.
So the magical wiggly worms are related to the magic from the stone? What's up with his whole body full of magic worms?

The concept is similar to chess; you have an identical set of pieces and the goal is to take the king piece of the opponent player. Differences are that there's a greater variation in the uniqueness of the pieces, and that you can take the pieces you take from the opponent and play them for your own side. You can also rank-up the pieces you own by moving them suffienctly towards your opponent's side of the board, similar to kinging a piece in checkers, which gives them extended movement and tricks.

There's pieces that have extremely similar parallels to chess pieces.
A brief interlude but it's a little surprising to see the Ice Queen acting this emotional. I guess she wants more female players to play with.
But back to shogi, for example, there's a Rook/Castle piece which I'm pretty sure acts similar to the chess piece of the same name. I believe there's also one that moves diagonally akin to the Bishop piece. A more notable difference is that the Pawn piece parallels in shogi, that line the front row of your pieces like in chess, can't do the diagonal movements of a chess Pawn to take the piece, they literally can only move forward until you hit that point where they can upgrade.
