Anno
what kind of weird stories? like fiction or weird stuff people did?
Anno
bizarre truths like the mouse utopia experiments at nimh or the collyer brothers or henry darger this youtuber makes really brief but in depth documentaries about weird stuff lemme go find it
I'm at work from 7 to 10:30 I only have 50% now cause of my ear thing
Anno
the content ranges from cringe to bizarre to straight up dark no /x/ garbage besides maybe mother horse eyes but he still only lays out the overarching facts
my ear is shitty and I hear myself breathe real loud, and I get dizzy if I stand much I've got a thing with a specialist at the end of this month though, supposedly easy to fix crystals or something
I'm continuing Homage to Catalonia I'm bad at reading stuff for a long time because I always feel like there's other stuff I could be doing instead, so I'm only on chapter 2 still
Anno
oh dank I'm currently reading Anarchy Works from Peter Gelderloos
I have the reverse where when I'm doing other stuff, I think I could be reading I'm about half-way with this book now
Is it good? I really feel like I should be reading a lot more, cause my theory is like The Communist Manifesto and uh, my own head
I've read very little formal theory or literatture, and really just got to where I am through my own analysis, so I'm not even 100% sure I understand what I think I understand It holds me back a little to not be confident in the ideas buzzing around in my head
Yeah it's pretty good. Little lower on theory and more "refuting" criticism mostly using examples. I would recommend it, especially since it's not that long. So far I've read Conquest of Bread and Anarchism and other essays. Can definitely recommend Conquest of Bread too, it's great on theory.
It's recommend for a good reason in my opinion. It is dated in some small parts and sometimes he goes into listing numbers and calculations that I don't find very interesting. When I read it, I felt like I was reading mostly my own thoughts. It's like I could finally arrenge them in the correct order.
Yeah, math stuff in theory just gets boring for me It's what made me skim through some parts of Towards A New Socialism, which I read but I'm not really a state socialist, so
Yeah same, luckily it was just a very small part of the book.
Not liking the state very much either, but I also must say I haven't read any books regarding it yet so far. Haven't read anything by Marx or Lenin for example.
I started Das Kapital, but it's very dense or how should I say. Tough to read through.
Yeah Capital is heavy stuff. I started reading The State And Revolution, but I don't remember anything of it, I only got a few pages in
There's SO much to read, and I just don't feel like I have the time to
I mostly want to read to become more secure in my positions though, I don't think I'll move much at this point. Feels like I'm at my end stage in terms of personal beliefs. If anything changes, it'd be praxis
Anno
I feel like I just started the exploration. There indeed SO many books and a lot of them hold different ideas. I'd like to get an idea of most of those ideas and see what I think makes sense or not according ot me at least. Praxis is also a big topic of dicussions and with maybe even more different ideas.
Praxis is super important to anarchists in general, a little bit less to other tendencies Though technically, it's not that they see praxis as less important, it's that their praxis is significantly different Anarchist praxis is very heavy with direct action, but DemSocs are like, no direct action beyond a few nearly universal types I'm not entirely sure where I am on reformism, though I have a vague idea, as an example
no idea, sorry m80 you just missed the admin by a few hours

great great struggling with my OS right now, it's being a fuck but otherwise great am messing up my first quarter of my master's, but I hope to fix that next quarter
I have to start providing therapy next session but I missed two /// next semester but I missed two of the four admin trainings for it because I didn't know they existed lol So I have to try to figure out what to do with that And I went like a month without my meds because it felt so good and got overconfident that i could take exams without them and couldn't focus on my exam lol But like idk how much I care anymore I'm pretty sure I can do it but if I can't, idk, I'll become a train engineer or something
I like academics but I hate classes. I can do pretty much everything but assignments and exams without my medication and I really just want to feel good all the time so taking my medication is kind of unattractive.
I feel like just having a job would be a more manageable kind of stress and it'd be nice if people didn't have high expectations of me.
Are you still doing chemistry stuff?
Anno
Ah yeah I can understand that. Depends on the job of course
yeah I'm doing a materials engineering master, the idea is to make novel materials and stuff like that
yeah things like that I am more interested in inorganic materials so far and been picking my subjects like that too, so indeed stuff like metals or semiconductors and shit
>>330920 Oh yeah, same. I'm self-motivated sometimes, like, if something really gets me, I can passionately pursue it, but there's so much boring coursework that I'm just, like, ehhhhh.
I have to take two semesters of stats that I already know it's research methods technically Like we're a month away from the end of the first semester of it and we're talking about correlations and shit I was running correlations like 5 years ago but we can't test out of the class because the APA says we can't so it's soooooooo boring
It'd be alright if there wasn't a lab component the lab has all these assignments where we have to use a program called SPSS but i mastered that years ago and it's like thousands of dollars so i have to do the assignments at school because i don't have the program at home so it's such a waste of timeeeeee
I got a class of psychopharmacology which was pretty sweet though

Anno
doesn't sound familiar and a quick scan of wikipedia doesn't help either I haven't really done any computational things, mostly basic functions
Well I don't know for sure, but i know several materials guys.
Anno
From a look at the coarses I can take, it doesn't seem like I'll get any computational things. They mostly seem to be about the concepts and so far it's been approximations
FormerRei@mobile
Basically everything quantum more complicated than a hydrogen atom is an approximation. You can't solve that stuff exactly.
Anno
that seems to be a recurring theme for many things
Anno
I followed colloidal chemistry this quarter and they were pretty much only approximations. Some were better than others, but exact solutions were very rare.
FormerRei@mobile

When I was formatting that manuscript for submission to that publication, they had a formatting guide for LaTeX which seemed much less time consuming and stressful, if I'd known LaTeX. It seems like a lot of journals are moving towards encouraging LaTeX use so I figure I might as well start learning it.
yeah it seems very popular I like that it's just a text file, the tools are libre and that I don't have to handle fucking figure, table and references myself. It does the numbering for you <3 <3 <3
yeah for sure my suggestion would be to just use it for your next assignment you'd normally use word for or maybe try making your resume with LaTeX and remember, for problems a search engine is really your friend which is double true for latex problems
yeah i figure knowing how to do stuff is where i want to be but not necessarily remembering how to do it all from scratch that's how i was when i did HTML and CSS and ActionScript in flash just know how to use stuff and then have my pre-done working templates to move around and edit where needed

>Conclusion
Across the board, childhood trauma is a major contributor to serious psychological disorders. The damage was done to a child’s sense of security, contentment with his or herself, and ability to form relationships with others is profound and irreversible. In some cases, it is not even manageable. The effects of childhood trauma can manifest in several different ways, but whether it presents as PTSD, BPD, or DID, the physiological and psychological results of prolonged trauma can be traced back to early life harm and neglect.
