well cranking down the graphics might help you at least narrow down whether it's the CPU or not if it is, the only real advice I can give is closing out other applications like your browser and stuff while you play COULD be RAM too
If it gradually gets worse rather than starting out from the moment you hit play being laggy, it's way more likely to be RAM than anything Or, of course, the steam overlay X4 is kind of unique there, for whatever reason it can't really handle itself if you play it with steam overlay disabled (on linux anyway)

still tyring to get X4 stable it's like the same prob you had it seems to spike when flying up to like 50-70 % it doesn't freak or crash or anything freaze* it just lag framerate like if you move it's not like playing a fps how fast it should be it's like a 10-15% latancy not to be bad but anoying af when flying or walking some where for long periods of time

Your best bet is using the upscaling in the graphics settings if you aren't already Set the true rendering scale real low and just scale it up it'll look kinda fucked, but it'll run smoother at least
Really the upscaling they use for X4 is genuinely good I compared 4K native and 4K upscaled back when I was setting up everything after solving my stuttering issue, and honestly I could barely tell the difference beyond some things being a little bit more fuzzy it's really more like overly aggressive anti-aliasing than a noticable issue >>1158149 You might honestly be fine just turning off some of the more resource-hungry postprocessing effects Though I'd personally recommend, just due to how beautiful this game looks when maxed out, first seeing how much you can get away with using upscaling

ONE actual issue with upscaling though, and this isn't upscaling's fault but just a result of it being upscaled from a smaller true resolution, is you might have a bit more difficulty locating crystals on asteroids, which is a good way of making early game money Not a big concern, though, it's the kind of thing you only really do super early game if you simply want money quick to start doing some of the stuff that requires some upfront investment

It's been a while since I played CS Though the latency isn't comparable, because it affects you differently High ping in CS is still literally playable, you just kinda jitter around once it gets real bad and the server doesn't give you the results you want, but on your side the game is smooth as ever With this, the latency is between moving your mouse and the camera moving
you can play CS with 250 ping if you're willing to put up with it, but every single input taking upwards of a quarter second to even register on your screen would make it outright miserable it's a very uncomfortable way to play a game but if it's the only way to play it smoothly, X4 is at least a game that won't be the worst offender, as long as you're willing to put up with it, cause most stuff you do in X4 is moderately delayed (like turning your ship isn't a whip of the mouse to begin with, for instance) into smoothed actions, so it's less jarring moving on foot was kinda sickening though, but I was running it up against what the borrowed machine can handle, so you might have a better experience by lowering the graphics and giving it some breathing room to do the processing it needs for encoding and whathaveyou >>1158172 probably gonna play some zomboid later, but right now I don't really have much planned

I never got into eurotruck I really enjoyed a space trucking game for a bit though Which in a lot of ways kind of was eurotruck but your truck is a spaceship. It's still very much a truck, just very big and with thrusters instead of wheels, and you gotta back into delivery zones with cargo and stuff. More small scale in terms of how far it feels to drive, but some deliveries are still half an hour, hour long And it's got a bunch of stuff inside the truck you gotta fidget with, like batteries and power management and stuff like that

linux is a bit scuffed at times current extremely mild annoyance: my headset's software (for settings and various other stuff) doesn't have a linux version and doesn't run properly through wine or the like thankfully, there is a user-made software for it all, though it is CLI only What this means is to adjust various settings that aren't just volume or on\off on my headset, I gotta type a command into the commandline Which is fine for settings, you don't mess with those often to begin with But the same goes for knowing the current battery level so occasionally I gotta type in headsetcontrol -b in the commandline to check battery it does go "beep beep beep" when it's 20% or lower, so it's not NECESSARY, but the thing's kinda old now and doesn't handle being charged too well once it's below the threshhold of giving me the audio indication It restarts itself every minute or so until it reaches a bit above that so I gotta charge it before it tells me to

Like of course movies are like "die hard 3" or whatever, but oceans started at 11 and didn't just go up, they went down too, keeping the "oceans <number>" format, but it's absolutely not in a conventional order I guess what I really am asking is if there's another series where the original's title ended in or contained a number, higher than 1, which has been kept around but changed for subsequent entries

well yeah, there's plenty of movie (and other things) series where they go schizo mode with the order afte a while, lotta games and movies where suddenly <name> one is actually the like, 6th installment Fast and Furious is an example
But I'm not aware of any of those that began with what ended up being the installment number in the title, without it being 1
