I mean I get my complete absence of faith makes it hard for me to believe there's any weight to weird things written in a book as serious laws to follow. FormerRei@mobile
>>844571 Please don't call them protests They are riots now.
>>844571 Yeah, a riot can be in protest of something.
FormerRei@mobile
Fine At this point, describing them as merely a protest rather than a violent protest is misleading.
FormerRei@mobile
Also Minneapolis is probably going to be put under martial law once the national guard moves in. I'm not sure what the demographics are there in terms of gun ownership but I've heard some looters have been shot already. After that big hurricane in Florida a few years ago, someone who went to highschool with my cousin got shot while looting from someone's house. He didn't die, but depending on the gun demographics of an area looting can be very dangerous.
Anno
hmm I guess context is important god this equal key keeps getting stuck on this keyboard
Anno
Honestly I think it's bad to just reduce them to being riots. Because then it's easy to treat them as a riot problem and ignore the causation of the protest action. Dismiss the protest aspect of them and you're dismissing the Literal Murder that sparked this whole event.
FormerRei@mobile
If he gets charged it would be manslaughter. But I do see what you mean. However, the riot problem needs to be dealt with, people's lives, livelihoods and properties are in danger. As Err I wouldn't go so far to say that "there is no excuse for a protest to turn violent" but I would say that this time they really shouldn't have.

Oh wait no I'm just dumb Horizon isn't even a Japanese game. At least I guess the Western game industry is already aware of how poorly bad ports can be received.
Conversely it's getting so warm here the humidity is starting to make even staying indoors feel like living in a swimming pool. Though I think it's just the first heatwave of summer and we'll get some cooler temperatures for a bit until summer -really- hits.
>>844711 No you see I want it to be hot! The sudden wave of humidity was a lot but that's mostly because temperatures here have been ballistic. >>844827 At least when they're simplistic or don't have any other ones that are too similar, Kanji honestly are probably easier to learn than either of the kana. Alphabets are kind of abstract and don't have a lot of firm details to link together; you kinda just gotta immerse yourself in them to memorize them. But Kanji have concrete meanings -- well, more concrete than alphabets -- that the brain can latch an association to much easier.
>>844827 do you use mnemonics or anything like that?
Anno
strangely, unlike with spanish, i think i'll be able to understand japanese a lot faster than i'll be able to speak/write it whereas with spanish i can speak and write it but when a north or south american spanish speaker says something to me i have no clue what the hell they're saying spaniards are a little easier but still i don't get much

>>844830 sometimes if i'm having trouble i'll come up with some basic ones but i try not to rely too heavily on them

I really don't get mnemonics. I mean I understand the way they work and the advantages of them. But my brain doesn't reach for them at all when I need to remember things. Though maybe it also doesn't reach for anything when I need to remember things and that's why I forget stuff so easily.

>>844892 I mean I don't really like any of the Twitch emotes that have kind of overridden the online English language, but sure, they don't really do anything when it's just a little. Problem with stream chats is that it's never just a little.
>>844894 usually emotes get spammed in chats that are moving so quickly that text isn't a practical method of conveying a message if there were no twitch emotes, streams that have over 5k viewers would effectively be unreadable walls of scrolling text oftentimes streamers themselves limit the number of characters you can post per chat (and put a cooldown on posting) because they wouldn't be able to effectively read their chat while playing games especially when you get into the 10k+ range, the emotes become necessary for the chat to convey any kind of meaning to the streamer or eachother
i understand disliking that communication is being simplified and nuance and creativity are stripped from it but emotes exist as an invention to suit a new kind of problem and not as some attempt to dilute english i think that emotes spawning a culture of ironic jest outside of twitch chats is honestly a pretty fun thing
Though I think piman is what the Japanese call bell peppers so it doesn't really check out.
