there's probably a good indicator, by the way, of whether or not a planet contains life by whether it has an abundance of tholins (that reddish brown carbon substance) and is in a tholin-rich solar system
those are probably the carbon precursors to life, so the planets that have a ton of that reddish brown tholin surface (we can tell through spectroscopy) probably -dont- have life because the tholins are still there the ones that dont, could have already begin manufacturing life from it
pluto has a bunch of tholin content it's too cold to really do anything with it, but maybe in the future it could mars is reddish brown but not from tholins. it doesnt really have any tholins, which it should since most of our solar system does so maybe it's already used it in its earlier life cycle when it had water to make prokaryotes or some basic life who knows!

if someone discards something that prompts you for pon/chii, just wait like 10 seconds to click cancel and hit the ... emote once or twice to make them think it's the other guy
also i got somebody to ragequit by taunting while in riichi after their discard they discarded and it stalled like it's waiting for someone to call so i taunt like it's my tile even though it isn't and they just left thinking they lost

That's kind of a fun trick to play on people, I'll keep it in mind. So far there hasn't really been anyone that's consistently taken that long. Just like maybe one or two discards. Or during times like when someone's Riichi'd and it's pretty understandable to be cautious about what you discard.

well that's just adding to the convincingness you can just do the ... emote by itself while stalling and it looks like you're getting impatient it has limited utility for me because I use the "C" option to disable pon/chii prompts unless i intend to open my hand that way i dont leak information
but sometimes i forget and i try to be creative about it
i normally never taunt when calling a winning tile, because im not a dick but i'll always do it just to psych someone out like that because it's a relief when they realize that's not my winning tile i think it might be possible to make them think it was your winning tile and you didn't accept it by accident but that's a stretch

Maybe this is just me on semantics but I don't think I ever taunt on a winning tile, but I'll some times do the glowing eyes Cat emote when someone plays or I draw my winning tile. Or use the ... emote or the angry smile emote when I know the Tsumo/Ron I'm about to call is gonna end the hand/game and I know it's not going to win me anything substantial.

My personal favourite is using the shocked emote whenever almost literally anything happens. When people Ron or Tsumo, when someone gets a Kan, when someone Pon or Chii off my discards. Am I actually surprised? Rarely. But it's good for maintaining a sense of mutual involvement in the game.
I also just really like that emote's design so win-win.

or other times i won't deal into a single hand all game, but i still end up in fourth because someone gets a sanbaiman while im dealer so i pay 12000 while the other two only pay 6000

i'm making good hands and making them fast but idk just bizarre stuff that i would write off as happenstance if it didn't happen like 8 games in a row taking 4th every game in one of them i was at 45,000 points, massive lead on first, then on south 2nd through south 4th when i wasn't dealer, everyone kept getting tsumos and slowly rotated all my points away i'd have toi toi setups that couldn't be completed because they were in the dead wall or i'd rush a hand and be in tenpai on the 3rd turn and just nobody deals into it or i get a pair of my seat wind at the start of the round so i have a quick yaku, but my seat wind is also the dora indicator -- that's fine, there's still three. nobody would keep one wind tile that's not the seat wind or prevailing wind right NO SOMEONE DECIDES TO CHASE 13 ORPHANS THAT ROUND

I tried Thirteen Orphans on one of my last few good games last night hah hah. I started with like six unique terminal/honor tiles and drew another as my first draw. I was well in first so I figured if I didn't make the hand I didn't have too much to lose. Got down to like needing three more before someone Tsumo'd or Ron'd off another player. Figured it was a good exercise in knowing when it's safe to go for it in a more serious situation.

I think as far as a "main" plot goes, Pythagoras and Atlantis is the one. Mostly because there aren't really branching routes for it like there are for the family plot and because of stuff in the Cult plot.
But yeah there's a lot of sequel-esque stuff in the DLC, especially in that recent Atlantis DLC.
I should get back to Odyssey at some point and play them.
Oh right, there's also some really easy to not catch spoilers for the end of Pythagoras' plot in the Atlantis DLC trailer they put out last month. So I'm pretty confident it's the main plot also because of that.
