Anno
One point of annoyance I have with Odyssey is that the bounty hunters are a bit ... too commonplace. They'll regularly show up when you're trying to clear points of interest or hang around quest NPCs. The prior is the most particularly annoying because you can't manually save while in hostile zones, so if one shows up right as you're wrapping up clearing the fortress or whatnot, you either have to book it or fight, and if you die, you're at the mercy of the game's autosaves, which usually mean respawning at the start of the clearing, and have to repeat your work all over.
TN !PcAPtAiNJo
>>586605 equally annoying as the pirate hunters in black flag?
Kirara, M.S.
i haven't had any trouble with them sometimes they show up at inopportune times i guess it's easy to clear your bounty if you're about to go do a quest or something too
Anno
Yeah, I'm probably just too stubborn about clearing bounties. Paying them off costs money, and that's money that could go towards upgrades!
Kirara, M.S.
eventually you have way too much money ive had 20k+ non-stop since like level 10 everything is really cheap
Anno
I don't think I've broken ten thousand once. I'm close to five thousand drachmae and I'm level eighteen, and a lot of that money'll get poured into upgrading shit soon I figure. >>586611 Parts and equipment. I keep one of everything I find for completionist's sake but I sell everything else.
Kirara, M.S.

Kirara, M.S.
oh that's weird i had money problems until i realized i hadn't been selling stuff so i sold everything and made like 20k
Anno
Do you swap out gear or do you stick with some preferred stuff and just pay to upgrade it?
Kirara, M.S.
upgrade things occasionally but i never have enough resources, so mostly switch out I don't concern myself with armor value anymore though just the skills
Anno
I don't really pay much attention to the armor value, aside from preferring that the indicator arrow is green, but I do select gear that boosts Assassin damage over anything else. I'm getting a 40% boost in Assassin damage from all my gear, I figure it adds up pretty neatly.
Kirara, M.S.
what's your ass damage mines 30k with my assassin armor on
Anno
~14,000. It's enough to one-shot pretty much everything around my level, so I'm content with it.
I just noticed that I only upped my mercenary rank too though. Only just, even. And the first benefit to that is reducing blacksmith prices by 20%. So that'll probably help me save money from here on out too.

The part of you that says you shouldn't, I'd figure. I think you should continue listening to that part, at least.
Kirara, M.S.

Impulse control, I guess. And it's an expensive activity to get back into. Which for the relief in drinking again would probably still be a net stress gain.

Yuu
I don't think drinking is a good idea, you tend to overdo it.
月
i think even just a little bit is a bad idea the problem with anxiolytics is that anxiety is incredibly functional in the neurological sense you start opening up those pathways and your brain just starts resetting into a pattern of negative reinforcement it just starts loosening up the boundaries to the pathways you've already closed out ive got problems so i'm not really one to talk, but at the same time i'm probably the best one to talk

It's interesting. They're kind of avoiding giving much exposition and telling us about what's happening, and lean a bit of the aura of mystery and having the viewers pick up on stuff. But at the same time it kind of has that cheesy toku feel so it's enjoyable because of that and the feelings it inspires. I'm not sure if it's a kind of nostalgia or emotional resonance or something, but it's fun.
The show's also kind of ... not very animated, if that makes sense. I'm not calling that good or bad, but it's something I've picked up on. Like they rest on still scenes or shots that just require one or two people to move their mouths. Maybe it's just extra-weird because TRIGGER is normally pretty consistent in having their characters be very physically expressive. It almost makes me wonder if it's a stylistic choice because of how it breaks from that, but maybe they're also just crowded for work right now.

354 doesn't sound too bad, but my energy levels are so low, which isn't so shocking but makes everything a real chore.

though im happy work came back i expect work lulls but when it goes to long im afraid that something else might have happened, like they're choosing not to use my services or etc so it was good news that i got something and the latter part as contrast to how dry it's been
Anno
Yeah I know how that goes. The brewery I worked at for a few months just stopped calling me in one week abruptly. I got pretty annoyed at how they just went radio silent.
Probably should have called or texted them about it more than once, but, eugh. It's hard to care some times.
月
yeah, and i dont work with big operating companies that manage a ton of stuff it's all smaller type stuff, and really they only need to send out work when they're above a certain volume lower than that volume and it's handled in-house in order for the business to stay solvent so when i know it's dry season and i dont hear anything i really don't want to be forcing contact which can easily be misinterpreted
a lot of times it seems that, in the professional setting, out-of-the-blue contact is automatically looked at as a complaint or bringing up an issue that needs to be addressed or fixed i really don't like giving off that signal because it can mess stuff up if i email and say "hey, i noticed there hasn't been any work available in a few weeks, just checking if everything is okay" there's going to be reception that i'm eager for work or disappointed in the company for not giving me work for a while, and they might send me a consolatory assignment just to keep me happy so i dont disappear and find other contracts to occupy my time and leave them behind but really i'm only checking that everything's still normal and that it's just a low season, and making sure i didn't turn in some poor work or get complaints about my work and theyve silently chosen to terminate the contract or something
stuff like that's just not worth the bother, especially in the cold war of professional emails where everybody holds back their thoughts and all and contact is rare don't want unintended microaggressions or possible imagery of irreverence

>>587684 guy doesn't really argue anything decentöy and his anecdotes are really lacking
Anno
>>587699 I don't have a lot of experience in the professional field, but I tend to be super-conscious of supposed social walls, so I can kind of understand. It definitely feels like I'm being too intrusive if I ask too much. I texted them once after a week or two of no work and I just got the "we'll let you know when we need you again" message. And I didn't make a point of asking after that. Maybe I should have asked more, or done something else to look into why I wasn't being called in. They always said they expected the people working there to take initiative into their own hands, but I still feel like nagging about work probably doesn't fall under that umbrella.
Either way it's now like eight or nine months out since then, probably not a big deal anymore.
月
you should call em back up just for kicks "hey, you said you'd call me when you needed me again, but i havent heard back so i wanted to make sure you have the right phone number on file for me"
Anno
Hah hah, that might be funny. The last time I tried to get in contact though, the guy through which I got hired was no longer working there. So i don't know what kind of turnover they expect. It was always the person managing the packing floor staff that called me in too.
月
haha that actually reminds me of a job i forgot i had a long time ago, like when i was 18, i got hired to do this task of taking scanned documents and comparing them to an automated digital document that attemped to convert the images of text into digital text but with scanning equipment, you know, and bends at the pages near the binding and stuff, the light gets funky and you get blobby stuff in the scan so the automated system makes errors and sometimes omits stuff completely so my job was to manually edit and verify the integrity of the digital document in comparison to the original scans
it was really cool and i basically got to read whatever book and just compare it i think i got paid like 85 dollars for a 300-ish page book or something? i did that, got paid for it, and the next day got a call from the owner of that business asking if i could do some more over the weekend but i was already out at the botanical gardens with weekend plans so i said i couldn't and then i never heard back or got another assignment, just did one ever not sure if i ticked him off by saying i couldn't or if he really just rarely needed that service done
Anno
Yeah I wondered back when they first dropped out of calling me in if I'd said something a bit too flippant or, like you said, ticked them off. I get annoyed when people act like I did something wrong without being explicit about it after all. No clue what happened though.
月
yeah, i know i did tick off my current client a bit because i had agreed to take on some recruiting role and i was doing ok at it for a little while, but it was really a lot of trial and error stuff and after a couple months, life just got really hard. i was sick from the feral cats, they had infested under the house and torn apart the air ducts, everything reeked of cat urine -- and not just ordinary urine, but sick feral cat urine had to deal with sick and hateful relatives constantly laying all their negativity onto me because im the only one that would listen had to drive almost an hour to get anything like food or, god forbid, a six pack of beer to deal with the stress and then just outta nowhere i get a text about eku at 3 am one morning and im just like, man i cant deal with all this sorry, cant do this job, you gotta find someone more professional dealing with too much
so i know that i really let the client down at that time and i doubt they have a high opinion of me for it
Anno
It's hard to tell what people think of you when they don't ever talk about it. And just feeling that out is prone to error because people tend to have an overinflated estimation one way or another.
>>587728 Friends are one thing, professional environment is another.
And yeah, asking too deeply the wrong way at the wrong time is also prone to disaster.
Anno
>>587727 Sometimes you have to ask your friends once in a while to see if they actually aren't holding a grudge about anything you say, especially if you talk about politics with them. Learned this the hard way recently.
月
>>587728 this is also a mine field if there actually is nothing wrong and you bring it up, it might come across as being really needy or they might feel slighted a bit in that you felt they were harboring some ill will against you
>>587727 there's a lot that goes into interpersonal relationships it's like there's a holding state inside you to kind of understand where the connection is with someone and what it entails access memory kind of i think we, or at least i, spend a lot of time in that realm too, thinking about my connections with people and what to expect in next encounters, thinking what i can do, and so much more kind of build up an anticipation about things and how it's gonna go in the future, with some tangible feeling that it all is meaningful and functional and then sometimes you just never hear from the person again and they're gone
Anno
It's getting to the point in the year where my shins downwards are pretty much uncomfortably cold all day unless I'm under bed covers. Even with thicker socks and slippers on. I really ought to get a space heater for under my desk, but, money.
>>587735 I definitely do something similar, spend a lot of time thinking about my relations with other people and what's coming up next in it. Certainly a source of anxiety at times. I'm pretty enviable of the people who can just not care about the stress interpersonal relationships can cause, or at least can act like it doesn't bother them.

Anno
I'm familiar with the basics, and I've got an app on my phone that I've practiced on in the past. Haven't played recently though.
月
my roommate taught me and we play every time we go to the laundromat i initially thought "ugh, i'll just appease him and play it with him..." but im actually enjoying it a lot now
Anno
It's a pretty solid strategy game. I have a hard time remembering to use captured pieces effectively though. The shogi app I got has a lot of those "checkmate the king in X steps" challenges too. Before I ended up disengaged from the app I was doing a lot of them on the subway. They're good mind puzzles.

>>587744 my roommate got a little unenthused with me initially he was trying to show me like all the opening move sequences, you know, the ones that have special names and stuff i can't learn anything that way though it doesn't click so ive always just played hyper aggressive and trying to get enough material (pieces in your hand to later drop) to make early threats and the momentum to follow through with the drops just finally won my first two matches against him this week it was fun
Anno
I'm familiar with the opening moves only really in that I know they exist. And that's more because of shogi shows like 3-gatsu no Lion. If I do openings along those lines it's because I want to less I know they're good. And less, even. I think I play pretty aggressive too, trying to get an opening early on to get a far-moving piece like Rook or Bishop out and taking pieces.
I like mahjong personally, I downloaded a program to play it with people in Japan but I really just use it to talk to single 35 year old women now.

>>587750 oh yeah thats right that's why he learned shogi he wants me to learn shogi before watching that i introduced him to honey and clover (my personal favorite) so he really is excited that i havent seen this one
Anno
It's a solid show, even outside the shogi.
There was another show recently that had shogi as a focus, Ryuuou no Oshigoto, though that one was more of a stylized shogi to make it more cool and stylish. It was also kind of lolicon-bait-y at times, though it still was a little informative on shogi.

I might be trying sushi for the first time today, my local grocery store is finally stocking up on it.
Anno

Anno
>>587757 don't make your first sushi experience from a convenience store idiot
Anno
No I don't live by the coast sadly, I'm completely landlocked. >>587759 Would it really be that bad?
Anno
It's certainly likely to be subpar compared to sushi made from fresh fish. If you lived on the coast then honestly, it would probably be fine. But sushi the further from the coast becomes more of two things: less good, and more expensive. Even simple grocery store sushi on the coast is probably fine because it's cheaper.
If you've never had it before, I think it's fine to try it even from your grocery store. Just keep in mind the quality of sushi you'll be buying.

I'm so tired today. How do people even do brainwork when they're like this.
月
>>587764 it's easier for me sometimes less distractable when im tired
Anno
I'm certainly not. Or if I am it's an entirely imperceptible difference.
月
maybe a better way would be to say i care less about doing work when im tired depends on what type of brain work i guess creativity goes way up during sleep deprivation for me not task-switching though i could do one task until im tired and then continue working on it while tired because it's occupying a lot of brainspace but if i had to switch from, say, performing mathematical analysis to thinking strategically like in a game i'd fare poorly
Anno
It's not really sleep deprivation, or well, not back-ended sleep deprivation, which I kind of know what you mean about creativity going up during it. But this kind of lethargic exhaustion that's with me from waking up and never really going away through the whole day. It's so hard to do any kind of thinking during that. Any train of thought just doesn't have any grip and just slides off the moment I get distracted by anything. Any kind of complex thought feels like it's got to get pushed through molasses to come to the surface.
月
ah yeah thought dissipation i know what you mean that happens to me a lot when something kind of bubbles up and i start to build on it but there's too much lateral thinking and then it's kinda lost i assume it just kind of "dissolves" back into the brain with some new awareness but that it was sort of formless and will probably come back to mind when some sturdier foundation is built
i dont attribute it as much to my focus, although i could organize it better with more focus, but just that it's not incubated enough yet which is fine if it's nothing urgent but if it's for an assignment or if it's something that needs addressing soon then you gotta put that extra force into it to organize it into a rigid structure
月
that's also why i find compulsion to be pretty functional just do stuff as it arises and before it's lost rigidity doesn't really allow for impulsive distractions though, so it's kind of a lifestyle choice the more you build rigidity, the less you'll be able to seize those bubbling-up thoughts
Anno
I don't find my compulsions ever really benefit the work that's required of me. At best they're creative drives, but not in the particular direction that I'd need to do my assignments or whatnot. If I only followed them I'd only be adding more stress onto my life.
And this exhaustion isn't really what you're describing, not for me, Because it's not a product of itself, it's caused by poor sleep I feel. Or maybe a lousy diet. Or stress, but that might as well just be making my sleep worse anyway. My environmental conditions are terrible and it's messing with me which only creates a feedback loop since the damage it causes only worsens my condition. But I can't get away from that so it feels like my only course of action is to just keep sliding down into this.
I just want to not feel tired for pretty much the entire day.
