The Gunlance was always kind of clunky on top of technical for me.
The technical part was enough of a turn-off when I was starting the franchise but I've never gotten over the clunkiness.

Anyways I bought an arduino and an adapter for it yo connect with usb.
But I realized that the connector is just rs232 in a different form, so I might return it aand make my own using some spare electronic crap I have.

Now I just need to find my breadboard and hobbyist electronic stuff

After I gget used to the Arduino basics I'm going to try and implement a device that reads a partition from a usb stick and then does an md5 of it
Or something like that

Maybe an md5 of the entire thing's raw values.
Which would probably be easier to wrwrite because it doesn't have to deal with thing's like partitions and ignoring the mbr

But the idea for it was to make a tool that could check if a usb stick used for diagnostics on a possibly malware infected ccomputer without needing to plug the uusb stick into another computer and risk spreading malware

So obviously the md5 of the stick immediately after its had its shit installed to it would be stored somewhere that the Arduino could read it from
And would also be a read only install on the usb
So then if the makware does anything to the USB stick, the md5 will be different and then you'll know not to put it in another comp

Also I thought of a really good idea for a theoretical malware obfuscation technique while trying to think of ways that this system could be fooled. Although incidentally I don't think it wwould eork on usb sticks.
