I'm looking at smartwatches again. Newegg has a refurbished deal that sells Huawei Watch devices at pretty much 50% of their new unit cost. According to reviews, the warned damages on the devices can range from being heavily damaged to pretty much almost new, so while they might end up a little buffed, there's a good chance I can get one that doesn't look like trash. I've been looking for an affordable wearable that still has a decent look and feature count and this is pretty much the best I've seen. It doesn't help that Canada gets like half the actual smartwatches that actually get released. Huawei's second generation Watch doesn't even have an intended Canadian release, and no one actually sells this original model without importing from the States anyway.

I'm more preferable to a wearable device that looks more like a traditional watch. The FitBit models that try to be more watch-like than fitness band don't quite fulfil my aesthetic requirements. But it's really hard finding a union of aesthetic choice, features, and affordability. Especially in Canada. Feature-wise, it operates pretty well as a fitness device too, coming with a heartrate monitor and cooperation with fitness apps. And they updated that model line to run Android Wear 2.0, so I wouldn't be behind software-wise compared to a more recent model. It's got a microphone too so I think I could even do Google Assistant stuff too.

Or at the least, having access to that information should only help boost accuracy.
FitBit looks like they're interested in moving more into smartwatch territory than previously before, but as far as I can tell, even their most watch-y models are still pretty much fitness wearables. My mother has one and my dad has a Garmin watch which is a bit more of a masculine, beefier take on it, and they both like them a lot. >>327773 Yeah, FitBit doesn't have any good smart watches, yet. Gotta find one that suits you, though.
Well, I liked Makoto, she was my favorite. Kawakami was cute in teach mode, but she gets a major deduction for being an utter failure as a maid. She somehow gets less cute when she puts on a maid uniform, and her personality just isn't cut out for it. Maids can be good servants or they can be selfish, but she's a whiny maid which is just a waste. My opinion of Hifumi was neutral.

She would almost never do damage but she wouldn't take a lot of damage either, and I could use her to heal with whatever damage she does take. The problem with that is that Nowi would have to become an offensive character in order to make room for Caeda. It's possible that Caeda could do damage with enough buffs, but my 5* Caeda with brave weapon has atk in the low 30s, so...

It's the same thing, really. Nothing gets people excited like the idea of being able to visit violence upon people under the guise of moral supremacy.
>>327953 Well, yeah, the ultra left does want to do that, but the circumstances here are entirely different. The left doesn't get afraid of a shitposter on Twitter because the left is shitposting on Twitter. The right saw a ridiculous shitpost, reported it while ignoring all the facts, added to it, and are scared now.
>>327954 I don't really follow the news that closely, but most of the stuff I saw was people posting their guns and going "wow, can't wait to shoot people".
Even if you set that aside, the left has things they're unreasonably paranoid about too. Like Trump deporting everyone who isn't white, or nazis taking over the country.
Yeah, communists and other types of violent hippies exist, too. They, just like the nazis, have their little non-events where a few people march, too. It's pretty much the same thing. The people in the center won't really care until they're made to.
Kirara 🦃
anyway, my point is, that the Right's paranoia is ridiculous
nazis taking over is possible speaking in terms of reality whether you agree with it being feasible or not is a different matter

Kirara 🦃
oh, def that's part of why this is so hilarious they're so paranoid that they believe antifa SUPERSOLDIERS funded by Soros are going to kill all gun owners (communists believe in gun rights) and all small business owners and white parents and the DoD is going to launch an emp to help them, and this is all occurring so that antifa can establish sharia law because they're isis
>>327966 It's hard for me to see it as anything other than both sides being exactly the same. Soros funded supersoldiers are just as ridiculous as ICE agents who are also nazis deporting american children.
>>327970 I think the conservatives are right we need to restrict internet you need to be able to prove you can meme and understand memes to access ban normies

Kirara 🦃
>>327976 the liberals were paranoid but the liberals and the left are different
It's a little humorous that this happened, I suppose, but it's also really just a sign of how dangerous the times we live in are. People on both sides would happily slaughter each other if left to their own devices.
Things are pretty tense, but they've always been tense. It's just that enough people couldn't see how tense it was that it looked fine until recently.
What really bothers me is the liberals pretending like everything was great under Obama and pretending he did nothing wrong while condemning Trump for doing the same things Obama did.
>>327983 No, what really needs to happen is for us to bring dueling back. That way the retards can kill each other off and leave the rest of us out of it.

it's still a really young game i wonder how it'll grow the next few years
no, no, like, that's okay. THIS IS GOOD. If anything, that's PROOF. Because it's so young and LOOK AT IT It took a longer time for LoL to get to anywhere like this.
>>328041 oh yeah, definitely. There was a bit of pioneering on their part that can't go understated. But my point is more that there are other games from between LoL and OW that would LOVE to be esports that really aren't cutting it.' >>328042 As far as "monoliths" go, it's probably those as well as a couple of staple fighting games. But the fighting game scene is a subgenre in its own.
I think that maybe one of the key features a game needs to be successful is to be easy ot watch.
Games that are like League or Starcraft are easy to watch because it is overhead. Even people who don't know the game can watch it easily. The same goes for a fighting game, since the stage is really small and you can see both characters.
I wonder if it's a case of FPSes not lending themselves well to being esports.
>>328046 >>328045 I wouldn't say so much that FPS aren't easy to watch but they're usually uninteresting. Like CS is a staple because it's been one for years. LAN parties and whatever. You don't really get that kind of thing from something like CoD. I wonder if the constant iterations of CoD games has something to do with that. Because people love competitive multi in FPS but "sticking" to one game is also really important. The minor differences between one game and the next could mean a lot.
Well, the issue I'm kind of thinking about this in the context of is why Overwatch is having trouble sticking where other games have been easily very successful. Overwatch is kind of like a moba in the way it plays. TF2 is similar too, and it never really caught on as a n esport.
...Is it though? Like, I just don't get that kind of feeling from it. People play it and like it and they build tournaments around it. i'd say that a lot of what takes these games to go full esport is the support. Like Kirara said, back when LoL was charging itself up to go full esport, it really wasn't "a thing". It took a long time until suddenly, I'm in the city at one event, and I'm hearing people talking about going to Madison Square Garden because there's a LoL tournament going on. Now, it's "easier" in that we know people actually would put out for it and play. So game companies and whatever are actively trying to push into that space. Success is really on their ability to snag the market.
bangu
>>328049 Overwatch (and to an extent TF2) happen too quickly to adequately spectate In order for them to maintain the idea that they are skillful to play, a lot of the skills and decisions in the game are faster than can be spectated, especially because you have 10 players doing it at once They might benefit from being 4v4 or 3v3 games oh 12 players actually >>328052 watching one player is very different from trying to watch 12 Overwatch lends itself quite nicely to watching a single player execute his skillset but when you have 12 individuals constantly doing shit on low cooldowns, it's much harder
Samu 🍖 !KW2DbpWwls
yet OW is consistently in the top 5 games on twitch hmm

Samu 🍖 !KW2DbpWwls
shrug i'm watching it they focus mostly on the DPS making plays
Koi-
>>328051 >>328053 All that stuff about shoutcasting is true but it's really just on the skill of the SC. They just have to get good at it.
bangu
>>328056 Oh definitely but it might be a while before there's good shoutcasters for OW Tobiwan was probably crucial in Dota2 being as big is it was/is in recent years And good casters in League have highlighted when League is most fondly remembered competitively
>>328057 I'm not a big stream watcher but I feel like there's a lot of weight in actually playing the game. Which is OBVIOUS, yes, but shoutcasters really enhance that. People who know the game know what's getting called out so they know how crazy shit is getting when they start rifling off skills and events happening during large decisive fights. Which is part of why I don't really take too well to most esport games that aren't LoL. I don't play them. I don't play LoL anymore either, but I understand it. I think OW has a lot of future in it. If its present is this good, the future is just relying on Blizzard not screwing it up.
or rather "whichever one has the event happening where money is going down right now" So today, it's overwatch. I don't know about the scene of the rest.
Blizzard's website lists Starcraft, HotS, Overwatch, and WoW Arena for their esports games
I feel really bad for Cliff B. Lawbreakers is an Overwatch too late to show.
Samu 🍖 !KW2DbpWwls
OW does have an overhead map, they don't use it much though
Koi-
You don't really want to watch the action from those anyway. well, not most of the time. It sounds good, but it loses the general thrill of an FPS when you do it. It's nice for replay moments (but even then overwatch has made an entire show of their replays)

gw2 will not make it to this level they host tournaments but they're pretty quiet.

I think one of the biggest problems with GW2 ever becoming esports is that a good chunk of the playerbase does not give a shit about PvP. In fact, it is probably more accurate to say that the PvE playerbase is at odds with the PvP players. Because of years of attempting to balance the two game modes
>>328081 Combat arena The competitive stuff is pretty cool to watch but because things are tied to a completely different kind of play... TWO different kinds of play for GW2 (PvP/PvE/WvW), you have a really bad time balancing things out.
>>328086 One of the biggest problems with GW2 was that they actually tried to do this. balance their MMO with PvP in mind. That created lots of issues for PvE centric players. >>328089 This is actually a non-issue in GW2 because you can go to PvP arenas immediately after the first mission and be scaled to max level and have all traits unlocked. The only things you wouldn't have access to are like... 3 out of 50 or so sigils / amulets that give different stat setups. But you can just buy those with gold after playing PvP for a while.
And other is time investment since you need max lvl and good gear, which I believe you need to pve means that good amount of your time is spent on that too and not just pvping it up
>>328090 Yeah, it was actually a big thing for the original GW. You could make a PvP only character, and it was already max level. You could unlock additional skills by playing PvP more often. And any skill you unlocked via PvE was already unlocked. But with GW2, even though they had that, what they didn't want to do was separate the balance between the PvE and PvP usage of skills. A good skill in PvE would be broken in PvP. When balanced for PvP use, it would become useless in PvE. Engineers suffered from this a lot but it got better after a while.
gw was fun how you could just respec all your skills on the fly well before a mission but still >fail once >completely change your build >win this time easily
ALSO, I REALLY WISH THEY WOULD BE RESPEC IN GW2 BECAUSE IT WOULD BE REALLY CONVENIENT. I WOULD LIKE TO CLICK A BUTTON AND SHIFT MY SKILLBAR TO A DIFFERENT BUILD OUT OF COMBAT
Has anyone watched the new Kekkai Sensen and also has watched My Hero Academia >>328097 it's annoying as hell, we've been asking since launch A nice button that lets me swap out weapon/armor/traits/skills at once would be fantastic.
>>328096 I just loved switcing from a 1 target nuker to minion summoner to aoe caster with the necro/ele

I mean, you don't really do THAT much armor swapping depending on your profession but most or at least a significant amount have one power set and one condition set. and if you swap between those, you're going to be swapping trinkets, weapons, traits, all that >>328100 Necros are condi masters right now. So stuff like bleeds, burns, poisons, and all that. They do have power setups that are ridiculous as well. However, GW2 heals are very minimum. Outside of your main heal skill, they make healing very minimal so you don't have a lot of people who go that kind of route. The Necro has this kind of Life Force mechanic though, that is sorta like that though. Essentially, they use their skills, gain life force, and then they can go into a spectral form (or reaper form if reaper spec). And the life force functions as an additional life bar. They can stay in that spectral form as long as the life force is over 0, then they go back to normal.

is there still necro and do they still have that awesome >nukes and heals you
They gain life force when things around them die. I guess Dark Priest works out well. They have a new spec in the latest expansion but I don't remember much about it other than unintended bugs making them do more damage than they should.
>Practitioners of the dark arts, necromancers summon the dead, wield the power of lost souls, and literally suck the life force from the enemy. Necromancers feed on life force, which they can use to bring allies back from the brink or cheat death itself.
>Scourges channel their life force into the desert sands to summon biddable shades that damage enemies and create shields for their allies. They use punishment skills to torment their enemies, and wield torches to light the path to their destruction. So they lose that death shroud and get shades instead

>>328105 ignorance is bliss and she is ignoramus maximus
i think most amusing take on necromacncy is in diablo, since they are always working towards balance and stabiltiy of the world, while most fantasy always makes necromancy to be evil and twisted and unnatural but diablo, nah these guys are the true defenders of the world and nature
>>328113 Listening to necromancy practicioners in GW2 is subtly like that. Path of Fire is all about Balthazar coming back and trying to get power. All the humans are going crazy because holy cow, it's one of the Six Gods but also he doesn't give a damn about us but also he's a God so perhaps that's normal. So you've got the Balthazar priests all excited and everyone else is going "uhhh, this is bad maybe." But many of the Grenth followers, who was the God representing death, are very focused on that kind of balance of life. You have Grenth and Balthazar followers arguing with each other about values of life.
>>328117 Human necromancers have a lot of respect for the dead that they raise. You hear it in their various voice clips. They call them "friend" or "partner" as they raise them or put them back down. When one of them gets killed, the female Human necros go "But I raised that minion!" There's a kind of bond there. The other races aren't like that. Well, I think the Sylvari are kinda, but the Humans have it most directly.
Definitely respect. Asuran are more along the "these are my tools" lines of thinking. But human necros generally follow Grenth, and respect for the dead is part of the teaching. As is respect for life.
Like an example of someone in GW2 who doesn't have that kind of respect would be Palawa Joko. He was in GW1 too. The Scourge of Vabbi. I don't really remember "what" he is, I thought he was a lich but they make it sound like he actually isn't. Essentially someone who should be dead but isn't dead but also "isn't REALLY" undead. And he uses his ability to not die to live incredibly long and he has very strong necromantic powers and is seen as a God-King to the people in Elona. He doesn't give a fuck about the dead. He just kills whatever gets in his way and then raises them back to do his bidding with tragic irony.
Honestly, travelling through the Domain of Vabbi is really weird because the majority of Path of Fire is people talking about how awful Joko and his awakened are. And then you get to Vabbi which is his kingdom and it's all "Praise Joko, the greatest king who [insert-thing-he-really-didn't-do]"

>>328129 Does he claim to have done that or they just assert things unto him?
He does claim it. Well, he doesnt do it "in game" because of his circumstances but he has universities in the kingdom that teach that as part of the curriculum. Like in GW1, where you actually get to play with Palawa Joko on your team, you and your squad go to defeat Abaddon. Kormir was the Sunspear who finished it all by taking his powers before it all exploded. Joko claims that he defeated Abaddon within his school curriculum.
Joko is essentially really butthurt that Kormir took Abaddon's powers and ascended into becoming a goddess so he made it his life's work to kill the Sunspears and claim Elona.
