That kind of thing sometimes happens!

>>320388 Yeah. I can't really blame her for either of those, though. It can't be helped. I'll sleep plenty tonight. Fish napped all day while I was working hard!

I'm pretty sleepy too since I've been running a sleep deficit this week. I can't wait to sleep with my electric blanket. It won't be for awhile though.
Also it seems tomorrow at D&D we are doing a thing where every one but the DM runs something for an hour. Cause someone is absent on very short notice (as is usual for tthem).

First thing I do when start playing is jump on the heads of anything animate that crosses my path. And then try to get the perfect camera angle and timing to make it look like Mario is riding a frog.

Sounds awful The saturation and motion seeks like something I could live with though, if the mental part, yaknow, settles
Kirara🎃
I think I'm done playing for now. Mario is really fun and the joycons are surprisingly comfortable to play with.
Anno
Do you attach the grip assists when you play with them out of the Switch/controller frame?
Kirara🎃
Are the grip assists the little rope ones? I was using those. The game told me not to play with the frame because it would limit me.
Anno
Yeah, the ones you slide into the back end of the controller.
Yeah I saw that too. The add-ons are nice and fill out the individual joycons to fit the hand better. Plus the strap's useful for, y'know, not accidentally flinging one of them across the room if you get too much into the game. I just remember trying to get them attached with Jan and you in a hotel room and almost getting it jammed irreversibly on there.
Kirara🎃
Yeah, I put the wrong one on first and it was hard to get off haha
Yuu
So mario uses the locational stuff on the joycons?
Kirara🎃
Yeah for hat throwing and stuff. It's pretty fun.
Anno
As long as there's a way to re-create a single move using more generic controller mechanics, you lose nothing in terms of game functionality by just playing it with a standard controller form. And even that move isn't make or break.
>>320450 Yeah, I couldn't figure out how to do it. I kind of think it's limited to motion controls. Unless the joycons detect when they're detached/in the grip assists and drop the hat spin because of that.
Kirara🎃
you can't spin attack like that i don't think im not sure
Also I guess Mario burns controller battery a bit more than some of the other games since my batteries didn't last as long as I thought they would. On the other hand I haven't charged them in a long-ass time so it's pretty much my fault.

The first season was spectacular. It's well written and calls back nostalgia to the 80s/early90s in a way that doesn't cheapen the feel of the series but accentuates the emotional connect to it. A really good piece of work.

Anno
The fuck were you doing to get that.
Anno
I don't know if I want to explain but I was running around a construction site
Anno
Oh that's exciting. I climbed up a, some kind of small-rise building once. Or more so, broke into a construction site and climbed the stairs inside the building. Though once we got like ten or twelve floors up the works, you got out into open air. They had the crane for building the place still up and we clambered over building supplies and went up the crane ladder. At the top of the crane you were probably a good twenty-odd storeys above ground. The wind and air up there was something else. 'Course a few days later I realized I banged my knee somewhere along the way and for the next few months I couldn't really swing the joint without generating pain. Would still do it all over again though. Was a lot of fun.
Anno
Making buildings is pretty fucking dope.

Though I can't really complain about adult life. I got to spend two weeks with some close friends in Japan last winter. I wouldn't have had the finances or autonomy as a kid to do anything like that. Travelling has sort of become something I really enjoy, at least when I can afford to.
Kurisu
I think I might have hated travelling because I was with my family going places alone is really nice
Anno
I haven't had the chance to travel all that much I suppose the time will come eventually
Anno
Well it's not the sort of thing for everyone. There's a lot of stress involved with travelling, and not everyone's got the disposition to tolerate airports and airplanes. And some people just get homesick at the drop of a hat. But if life dealt me some strange hand of cards where I had to and was able to travel the world regularly, I could be happy I think.

Not to mention they might also try to speed up the cremation process where possible once a disaster like the hurricane hits. Because space is always finite on an island and you don't really want bodies laying about.

Linken Park livestreamed a live concert last night, apparently. It was in memory for Chester and for the cause of helping people struggling with mental illnesses. There was also two times when they didn't bring a guest musician on to cover Chester's lines in the songs, and had the crowd do the -do Chester's parts: Numb, and In The End. I saw a thing the other day about Obama being called for jury duty and now that I'm thinking about it, that sounds like the WORST idea ever. For everyone involved.
Koi-
I wouldn't want to sit in a juror box with Obama. I wouldn't want to be on a case with Obama as a juror whether I was prosecuting or defending. I wouldn't want to be the security guard. I wouldn't want to testify. I wouldn't accept a guilty determination unless I could request a firing squad.

Koi-
>>321228 Is it that he "can't" or that he "won't" because they'll most likely disqualify him? I don't expect him to make it on the case but the idea of him possibly being there is scary.
Kirara🎃
>>321229 legally, he can serve on a jury but the chances of him serving on the jury is 0%

The courthouse would probably just tell him not to bother in the initial steps of arranging all the stuff that needs to be done for security.
Koi-
That's what I expect but still
Kirara🎃
>>321231 precedent would have him come and try, that's what W Bush had to do they did security and stuff for him, i think it was like 10 years ago

He's also technically a lawyer, although I believe he never practiced. Lawyers tend to get struck right off the bad on principle.

Kirara🎃
it's not a contradiction
wait what did you think "i'm a million different people" was before we taught you the words
ToN
>miss so many times i die holy fuck i am livid
Koi-
Oh,no. I mean, I knew it was that but it's DIFFERENT because being able to change and not being able to change makes the line reflect differently.
Kirara🎃
To me, "I can't change" in conjunction with that line means "I can't stop changing"
Yuu
That is like the most teenage song ever when you think about it.
Koi-
When it was "I can change", being "a million different people" makes it sound like there's hope for shifting out of the day to day. Being able to try new things and maybe something will work. "I can't change" makes being "a million different people" a kind of necessity. He has to change and continue to adapt to the terrible circumstances that the "mold" puts him in. He's not different people because he wants to be. That's just what life does to him.
THE WHOLE SONG IS DIFFERENT
Anno
he's a creepy looking dude
Koi-
If anything, it was the most teenager song ever, when it was "I can change."
Anno
Being unstable is still a kind of mold if you're always changing then that's at least one consistent thing about you
Kirara🎃
>>321259 being a new person every day means that you might find something that works, too or that you always find something that works you're always who you need to be
Koi-
>>321263 Yeah, out of necessity. Finding something that works is why he's still alive. But the song exudes just how tiring that is. It's all down to survival. You survive until you can't. You're always who you need to be because otherwise, you cease to exist.
Koi-
This is the Introduction, the Foreword, to Koi Hates Words Vol I. Learning Bittersweet Symphony is different. >>321266 That's what makes the song worse now. You can't shift into a place where you can relax. Survival is nice but it's also pretty empty. That's why it's bittersweet.
Kirara🎃
Changing yourself won't fix that triviality. It's built into his world.
Yuu
Isn't it just a song about being a teenager?
Kirara🎃
>>321267 maybe if you can be a teenager in your late 20s
Yuu
You can certainly have the mindset of one.
Kirara🎃
that's probably what it's about then
Koi-
I don't see how the song has anything specifically to do with being a teenager. It just sounds like a song without hope.
Kirara🎃
i don't think it's specifically about it but it's kind of teen angsty
Koi-
Well, yeah, it was teen angsty. Especially when it came out. Pop music also tends to gravitate towards that demographic. But the song is 20 years old now. And I feel like the "change" from 'can' to 'can't' is almost akin to watching it grow old and... well, bitter
Yuu
Yeah, it's old but all the good teen angst songs are old. Everything these days is just about shaking your butt in inappropriate ways and dabbing.
Koi-
Oh no. Not this again.
In any case, Bittersweet Symphony has evolved from teen angst to economic anxiety. You know, like that one epidemic.
>>321277 There is lots of dancing that incorporates some more acceptable butt shaking.
>>321275 I think you are getting way too in depth if you're making this about economic anxiety! It's just that song that played in that movie where buffy was a bitch.
Kirara🎃
>>321279 What do you think makes some booty shaking more appropriate than others?
Koi-
what The second line of the song goes: >Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to the money then you die.
Koi-
The thesis is that life is bittersweet and the reasoning is "my pocket is empty and continues to be empty".
Yuu
>>321280 The degree of vulgarity. There's a big difference between a little shake shake and putting everything on display. I would think that this is a concept that you would understand easily, being an idol.
>>321281 >>321282 I think it's a bit much to say that that's the whole reason that life is bittersweet, though. Economic anxiety implies some greater degree of economic uncertainty, the song is just pointing out that that's how it is.
Kirara🎃
>>321283 I'm not disagreeing with you. I just wanted to know what you'd say.
>>321283 Having to be a million people from one day to the next and live at the mercy of the mold that changes you as your pockets remain light is quite a lot of uncertainty. One doesn't need a vast understanding of economic principles to feel the weight of it. There would be no point in pointing it out if it didn't have meaning.
TN !PcAPtAiNJo
http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/872094/spain-catalonia-independence-news-EU-finland-Mikko-Karna well that seems fun
Kirara🎃
My interpretation of the song is that the singer is a person that's able to navigate everything except for himself. Himself is the only thing he can't control.
Yuu
>>321286 You don't have to be a million different people. It's just teenage angst. The singer feels that he has to be.
>>321286 >live at the mercy of the mold that changes you i don't think his mold is changing part of the point of the song is that his mold won't change
Yuu
>>321290 He doesn't have to be, he just doesn't realize that he doesn't have to be. That's part of getting over teenage angst.
Koi-
Isn't that just a full-on denial of someone's lived experience? If he didn't have to be, he wouldn't.
Kirara🎃
That "angst" is generally the result of the conflict between the desired self and the self that society says you have to have.
Getting over that "angst" is just allowing society to beat you into submission until you're fine with fitting into society's box.
Yuu
>>321293 I'm not denying his experience. I'm just saying it's an incomplete experience and I know better than him. The need to please people and change molds to fit expectations is something people usually experience growing up and eventually get over. It's called learning to be yourself.
The fact that teenagers experiment with different personalities and molds is a well documented fact.
TN !PcAPtAiNJo
>>321291 Mold is terrible it can drive you out of your house ruin your lungs health and food
Koi-
>>321295 It's something that people have to do to keep jobs. That the song is applicable to teenagers goes without saying. There's just a lot that continues to apply to adult life. People get older and get stuck in dead ends. That's why I feel that the real version sounds a lot more adult than the version that I initially thought to be true.
Yuu
Singer-kun just needs to power up and break the mold.
Koi-
Well, he's got less than a 30% chance but I guess he can try.
Kirara🎃
If you don't like those chances, raise the chances for yourself to do it.
