where we left off:

Thomas still has the rope

VV reaches into her first aid kit and starts to patch herself up.

I take the rope from Thomas and tie Singing Bear's hands behind his back. "We're done dealing with you as long as you don't fight back, but we know someone here who might've been looking for you."

VV heals 4 HP but she is still a little burnt from being struck with lightning.

Thomas looks over himself to make sure he didnt get hit somehow.

Only VV took damage during the battle.

"We should probably get back to Chicagoan now that we probably have the suspect he was looking for." I give the end of the rope I'm still holding on to a shake.

Thomas gives a nod of consent. "Sounds about right to me."

"Let's dispose of him as quickly as possible. He is dangerous!"

Tugging Singing Bear along, I start walking back towards the part of the city with the cafe Chicagoan had been staying at.

The team arrives at the cafe Chicago was previously seen at. Along the way, not a single snake-person was seen.
Chicago is sitting at a table. He seems to have fallen asleep.

"For a man named singing bear he didnt really sing much"

I rap the surface of the table. "Chicagoan, sir. Wake up, sir. We might have someone of interest to you.

His eyes dart open. "I was just getting to the good part. What do you need?" he glances at the bound native.

"This one is Singing Bear. He claims to be the one who made this city--just what you were looking for."
I give him a brief summary of the encounter and the Hiintcabiit.

Chicago stands up and walks in a circle around Singing Bear before nodding, "Yes, he must be the one that built this city. He's a strong dreamer - most likely a sorcerer in your own world. It must be troubling for you that he managed to summon the Hiintcabiit, however."

"Not really. We won favor of that kind, um, deity. It was kind of sad when you think back on it. This guy called upon it to try and have it kill us and it did nothing and we made friends with it."

"Why would it be troubling?"

He folds his arms, looking slightly troubled. "It seems that you do not understand the situation that you're in completely. I will explain. This world is a land of dreams - a world separate from the waking world where you are from." He points to SB. "This man is asleep." He points to the three members of the crew. "You three are awake. You were brought here through physical means, unlikely this man. Do you understand what that means for the Hiintcabiit?"

"... there's a sleeping snek in the real world?"

"I don't htink that is what he is trying to say. I wouldn't presume to apply common sense to a mad situation, however."

He unfolds his arms, "The Hiintcabiit is something that was summoned to this place. It is awake, just as you are."

"Oh so the problem is that there are giant snake gods in the real world?"

"Which is probably a major problem for this...place, to have a strange and alien giant snake suddenly roaming the premises. Sending it back to wherever it came from is then probably important, correct?"

"Long ago, several Hiintcabiit lived in the waking world. They came from this world. Just as you entered this world while awake and will leave while awake, the Hiintacabiit, which has not been seen in a very long time, is capable of doing that. This man," he points again to Singing Bear, "wished to summon the Hiintacabiit into your world. To do that, it is likely that he intended to resurrect it here and then call it into the waking world from that world."

SB remains silent but glares at the group with tired eyes.

"That sounds convoluted enough that it just may have worked."

"So, what are the options for ensuring that it doesn't get pulled out of here, then? I don't figure something like it roaming free in America is a good course of action.

"What if we just introduce Hiintcabit to the natural ecosystem of our world? I bet he'd have a blast in the rainforest."

Ignoring Thomas, Chicago watches Felicity, "The best course of action to cease that would be to kill Singing Bear and return to your world in order to stop Singing Bear before he realizes that he was successful in his summoning. A dreamer will not recall the dream if he is killed within it - though he may realize what happened upon waking. That may buy you the time you need in order to stop him before he can call it into your world. The Hiincabiit is a dangerous beast and it is unlikely that most white men will be willing to show it the respect it asks for."

SB begins to struggle a little.

Thomas begins scribbling in a notepad pitential immigration plans for the Hiintcabit

Thomas begins to contemplate how Hiintcabit would look with 100 million feathers on its head

Thomas then checks on SB's bindings with an // a sense danger check

"When you say we are to stop him in the waking world, what would that entail?"

"Beating him up there another time over, probably."

"Would he be equally wizard in the real world?"

"You would need to do something to prevent him from casting magic again." He turns to Thomas, "He appears to be a powerful sorcerer."

"dang I want to be a sorcerer. So we need to like kill him right now to slow him down right? Anyone in particular want to do the honors?"

"Well that's one part resolved, but how do we get out of here? While us coming here was voluntary, it was most certainly not done in a full understanding. We can easily kill him here, but we have no idea how to leave."

"Are there any other ways that one might approach this problem?"

"Did you not come here in search of a way to stop Singing Bear's invisible beast? I do not believe your task here is quite done yet, though this is where I promised to aid you."

"It's been a while to be honest, we may have nearly forgotten."

"We made the agreement today!"

"We came here after drinking tea served to us by a Native chief. How we get back was never exactly covered during our talks." I stick a thumb towards Singing Bear. "And this one was hardly helpful in giving us ideas on how to leave too."

"Just kill yourselves," SB mutters.
Chicago eyes SB carefully, "I suggest you finish your business before moving on to another task though I will not prevent you from doing as you wish."

I rub my forehead. "Well it's not like we know how to leave yet anyway. Might as well finish what's left to do here.
"So," I begin, taking my handgun out of my bag, "we kill him here, and then what?"

"And then I will fulfill my part of our deal. In exchange for information about this city, I will grant you the power to battle the invisible beast."

Thomas wiggles his fingers excitedly

"Oh, I see. So I suppose we should do this fellow in, then?"
VV gestures at SB.

He nods.

VV cocks her GUN.
"Any last words?"

SB smiles dejectedly.
"Yes," he says. "It's a shame that I will forget this because it will deprive me of the satisfaction of getting revenge on you when I kill you in the waking world, you filthy white harlot!"

I roll my eyes. "Will make it doubly satisfying for us when we meet up later, asshole."
And I shoot him in the chest with the handgun.

"Behead those who insult boss"

He curls up in pain as the blood pours from the wound in his chest, "I'm glad I killed your friend," he whimpers with his last breath.

"You could learn a thing or two about dying with dignity!"

Chicago nods, "You have made a good decision. From here on out, I shall accompany you." As he speaks, his voice slowly begins to change to a much more feminine sounding voice. As he completes his sentence, it becomes clear that the voice is Felicity's own voice.

"Uh."

A bright flash of light fills the room, blinding the team for a moment. As their eyesight returns, in place of Chicago is a large, white raven.

"Oh, so that's how it is."

"Are you prepared to return to your world?"

"I've been more than eager to for a long time now-oh but it does come to mind." I wave my plant fibre hand to it. "You wouldn't happen to know anything about this, would you?"

"I'm afraid I've never seen anything like that."

I sigh, looking the back and palm of my hand over. "And I suppose it's coming with me once we leave. It's not even cold outside, I don't want to go around wearing gloves all the time."
"Well fine, I guess I'm good to go then."

Chicago looks at the others, "Any final business here?"

"You would know more about that than I! I suppose I am ready to leave."
