the ability that Chicago grants is that Felicity can spend 1 stability to have a question (pertaining to lore) answered although there are some things Chicago doesn't know and if you ask one of those questions you won't have to spend the stability the white raven represents knowledge and truth

I can kind of relate. Being a NEET can some times mess with my sense of time on a weekly level. If not for having a daily schedule of anime that airs on specific days, I might actually seriously mess up which day of the week it is.
I guess I'll just mention what I wanted to mention then I guess our game is probably over for the night how unfortunately
the project i've been working on is a homebrew tabletop game i have all the combat mechanics and most of the character creation stuff finished and most of the setting done pretty much everything other than fluff and one part of character creation and a bestiary i didn't want to talk about it in a main thread because we have a super duper annoying person that will hound me about it endlessly until i stop having fun with it it's inspired a little by the session we had where you guys killed all those bandits while riding in the carriage
maybe we can play that someday after cthulhu ends

i have 7 races, 11 classes, 25 occupations, 30 skills, 6 primary stats, 5 secondary stats, and there will probably be like 100-200 feats that i'll come up with for it

Is it leaning off of any particular pre-existing game system or is it something you've heavily put together from the ground up?
it's something i've put together from the ground up for the most part although the combat itself is kind of generic because it's just roll initiative, roll attacks and stuff
but i've created mechanics for old western duels and for ambushes there's also a mechanic for aiming at specific body parts of your target

When asked about it, the head of the studio said that he's always felt that a Wild West setting is a perfect base setting to make into a fantasy setting.
i think so too i taught myself a bunch of plate tectonics and studied a bunch of ecology so that i could design a proper continent with realistic placement of features along with several different types of deserts, woodlands, grasslands, savanna, and mountains it should allow for any kind of old west fantasy in any setting i also have ocean currents and wind patterns planned out for it

That's an important quality. Too many things with rigid mechanics ignore the value of being able to GUTS through things.
yeah and i feel like GUTS is a super important quality for a guy in the old west
the character creation is really in-depth too you have your race which provides general caps and bonuses for your primary statistics, then you have class which give a primary statistic bonus and class skills, then an occupation, which provides access to different sets of feats you can learn, and then there's a weapon focus, and each weapon focus will have different feats and progression
so you can play as a dishonorable rogue that has occupational experience as a gravedigger which allows them to easily dispose of bodies for example

they're in Arapaho and some Shoshone folklore A lot of Indians in that area have legends about small pygmy folk that ate human flesh and could only be killed by destroying their hearts there's no evidence that such a race of pygmies actually existed though
once i have more feats written up i'll probably share the specific mechanics with you guys and ask what you think

Well if it's a Wild West setting you could go for bonus flavour points and pull creatures from cultures that live in that region. You already have your repertoire of Native folklore, and I know the Mexican people that have lived in those regions have a very colourful and fascinating folklore too.
yeah, i'm going to do a little bit of that stuff i'm going to be designing about 20 different tribes to populate the region although several will be basically ripped from real life

for example my gnomes are the results of thousands of years of selective breeding to create docile slaves that reproduce quickly so that they can be used for building projects or anything like that but when allowed less oversight in the new region that was being settled, they started reproducing freely and developed into independent sentient creatures and they want to return to the old region to free their enslaved cousins
anyway i would have mentioned it a few days ago but i didn't want to have to deal with autism

I was expecting fate rpg too when you said it but the fact that its home brew and not a flavored system kind of like what we did with 13th age that one night is really impressive
i really don't like the system in ToC the d6 system sucks and i feel like it seriously takes a lot of the potential fun out of it
but so many other systems can be a little confusing and don't feel intuitive at all to me my favorite system is the Basic Roleplaying System which is like Call of Cthulhu but I didn't feel like that system was able to capture the old west and it's a little complicated.

I wasn't really expecting Fate because Fate is more of a mechanics setting. I guess you could just drop it in anywhere but when people tell me they've got something homebrew I guess I'm expecting something a little more wide-ranging than that.
d6 is hard to predict. Sometimes you get screwed by rolls and sometimes you do way to well. It makes it hard to balance.
I liked the monsters and other childish things system where you get to roll handfulls of d6 dice. It takes the edge off of the randomness.

for rika nd tilde, a background is basically you take a thing your character has done in their past and assign it points so that during skill checks if you can make a reasonable arugment that your background would make what you're doing easiet since you've done something like it before
so // sometimes they can be pretty catchall like Pan has a "soldier" background he uses for rough and tumble stuff but he also has used it for like endurance and his "priest" background tends to be used for talking things

it's interesting but i honestly prefer just having skills
the 13th age system doesn't have any way to show proficiency in anything either it's like 80% RNG
my system uses organic skill growth to encourage players to use their skills whenever an opportunity presents itself and has a way of showing increased proficiency which i feel is important
if you have the same chance of getting a successful skill roll at level 1 as you do as 10, i think that's really dissatisfying
