>>109862 → I wish there was an easier way to jump in to the Japanese voices for Breath of the Wild. Or even just let us pick the audio language freely. Why do you still refuse to do this, Nintendo.
I like Zelda so far but the English voices get really, -really- stiff at times. And the accents can feel kind of forced on the girls.

Anno
I guess it's not really an affront for me. I think having a developed Hylian language would be really cool, but considering the developments here, I can't imagine an oral language is high on their priorities for the Zelda world. It's also far from a completely voiced game, the voiced lines are reserved for some niche moments--mostly main plot cinematics. But it's still a disappointment that a lot of the English lines feel kind of clunky.

Like right now I have a six-outlet power bar but I'm only physically able to use five of them if I want to plug the Switch charge cable and my external hard drive's power cable in at the same time. Which means I can't have my laptop charge cable plugged in since the rest of my outlet demands are necessary, covering my monitors and PC power cable.
I mean I'm relatively indifferent to having the adapters--at least when designers have the good grace to not have them physically attached to the prongs that go into the outlet.

Oh yeah there was a fan theory I heard way back that the Rito were actually descendants of the Zora, turned into birds to make up for the fact that pretty much all of Hyrule becomes salt water in the Wind Waker. There aren't any Zora in The Wind Waker, aside from the spirit of one who's a previous Sage--who's role gets filled by a Rito. There's a similar parallel between the other living sage, a Korok, and a Kokri spirit--both Korok and Kokri seem to be parented by the Great Deku Tree. I personally thought it was a really neat theory but the fact that both species co-exist in Breath of the Wild kind of cans the theory in the end.

I kind of wish they'd stylized Link and Zelda's faces a bit less for the game. Not much less, maybe only five or ten percent less? Most of the other characters look pretty good, especially the non-Hylian races. I actually think they all look amazing. But Link and Zelda feel kind of ridiculous.
>>110188 Twilight Princess was highly stylized too. He was super bishie in that.
Anno
It was, but it was closer to realism. I mean ALL the Zelda games have always been stylized. But Twilight Princess 's Link and Zelda designs were definitely less stylized than the way they are in Breath of the Wild.
I think both are equally stylized, it's just a different kind of style. Twilight Princess was super edgy and bishie.
Anno
I think even taking difference of style into account, Twilight Princess was still less stylized than Breath of the Wild was, at least concerning Zelda and Link.
i can't wait for the zelda cycle to return to the edgy style every edgy zelda has been great
Anno
I'm of two opinions on it. I like the characters in the games like Twilight Princess and whatnot, but Breath of the Wild has hit a really, REALLY good colour scheme for environmental design. It probably wouldn't be impossible to merge the design concepts together in way that would work, really, but I wonder if they'd do it.
Anno
>>110195 yo twilight princess link got them collarbones tho
>>110197 yeah but Majora's Mask is the best zelda of all time not including the new one because i haven't played it yet i'm sure if they combine edgy storytelling and character focus with the new zelda's gameplay they'll make the best zelda game ever
A link to the past is the greatest zelda of all time. Majora's Mask is the second best, and the best of the 3D games.
Anno
There's a lot of praiseworthy aspects of the N64 games but it's hard for me to revisit them and enjoy them in the same way I did when I was first discovering them. Graphics have become a considerable part of how I process storytelling in games like these, and there's a certain way that the graphics of the N64 Zelda have not aged well.
Though even despite that, there's still a lot of the mechanics of those games I regret them not keeping around. I still dream of a new Zelda game with a musical instrument as a core game mechanic.

There also wasn't a particularly significant change in the environment design for the N64 games so it wasn't like Majora's Mask was a fresh experience there either.

>>110273 Wow, what did Peach do to you? Do you want to live in a world where everyone plays Marth or one of his clones?
Comfy Bang
the only things melee has going for it are faster pace and higher mechanical skill floor and ceiling but that doesn't make it straight-up better it definitely makes it the object of worship for a lot of people and it does make it a better competitive esport but it doesn't make it a desirable game
>>110276 I like it best because the characters I like were all nerfed in the later versions. I like Peach and Fox, and they were both nerfed in the wii version and a lot of those nerfs carried over to sm4sh. The developers hate fun.

we're not going to come to an agreement look i recognize that competitively and as an esport melee is better but it's just not an approachable game for most, and it just isn't as fun maybe at base level it can be, and maybe at top level but for the people who want to play it somewhat often but not often enough that it interferes with the rest of their life, it isn't as rewarding an experience
>>110305 i simply do not understand because i play it somewhat often but not often enough that it interferes with the rest of my life and i find it FUN

We've only had two or three days of rain that I can think of. I wonder how that homeless lady is doing. She asked me if it was going to rain and it was supposed to. By the time I left the library it was heavy. She left earlier though so she's probably cool.
This has been one of the weirdest aprils we had record hot march, and then we have an april that would prolly be record cold, had there been still snow left.
She was carrying the three things that I would have with me if I were homeless. Phone, Tablet, 3DS. Though, I guess I'd be using a laptop rather than a tablet.
as long as there was a cafe or something with wifi that i could literally stay at the whole 9-5 day, i would be alright and still be able to work while homeless i'd just have to pack up a laptop in waterproof stuff and toss it in a backpack and find something to eat and somewhere to sleep each night i guess i'd have to get a PO box because i have to fill out W9s with a mailing address i bet new york is more accomodating in terms of wifi access than tennessee

Holy shit the White Palace in Hollow Knight seems to just be "Oh hey you learned some movement during our platform-based fighting game. No fighting now, only sick movements. You either get good or don't get through"
People in general would all benefit from more education of varying kinds being turned into video games If something as engaging as Salt&Sanc forced me to learn something through the gameplay, I'd learn that shit, probably
You can't just slam in random bullshit in games, it'll have to be part of the actual gameplay so being better at the thing makes you better at the game But if it can be done, it'd be a benefit for everyone
Well Typing Of The Dead is an old-ass example, but a good one Anyone who actually played that game is gonna be mad good at typing
The problem with a lot of educational games is it's not like "hey uh here's a ton of stuff and also one mechanic is you do maths" It's more like "Oh here's a PLOT constructed around a math question, solve it to SAAAAVE THE WORLD"
So it's not really a game It's just a math question with cosmetics
There's a game where you play just a floating revolver And you have to reload it step by step, manually
It's actually a fairly fun game If it was fleshed out more, something like that could be used to teach a lot of people at once about various guns How to reload it, where the safety is, how to operate it >>110699 Yeah that's the one
If you constructed an actual game around it that's a bit more fleshed out, that could be cool as hell Competitive modes where essentially the better reloader will gain an edge
There's a lot of stuff you can do with games, it's all about finding a way to make it engaging
Anno
>>110696 it was a deal like 3 dollars for rainbow buncles mlb but theyre a little stat weaker
But the most significant benefit of doing stuff through video games is you can consistently drip feed rewards for everything Oh, you just learned how to multiply? Your character can already do whatever
Something like typing of the dead but for math could be Each enemy has a number on it, but each color combination dictates what you gotta do A red enemy needs you to add two numbers together to get the sum, a red and greed needs you to add 2 numbers and then multiply that with another
It could be a pretty good tool for teaching kids how to math >>110705 It's not about typing speed, it's about beating in the ability to break a number down into arbitrary combinations
A kid who's been playing a game where he's gotta make up ways to multiply 3 to get the answer for the enemy isn't gonna hesitate for a second answering "what's 15 divided by 3?" Because that's FIVE and he knows that because that's how he wins the games By knowing how to FIND that real fast in his head
Anno
i think they're 30% but thats enought to survive with phalynx
i use mine more for offense usually i guess i'd be more defensive if i did hls
>>110703 i think that wouldn't work as well as typing since speed isn't as crucial as math in math >>110703 yeah but it's still speed based you need to count fast and that's not quite as useful as typing fast
It's not about training the speed The speed is just there to force you to learn it properly If you have all the time in the world every time, you're gonna be slow as hell in general about it
Language would be harder for games Language isn't a very easy to teach subject
I dunno man, I think some years from now, the schooling system we use is gonna be super different, using educational software more than stuff like study time Why sit the kid down with a pen and paper when he can just play a video game, have fun AND learn School's a fucking drag because you can't do something fun So if something fun is directly contributing to your learning, you'll learn a lot
Educational games are mostly lame because the people who make them aren't too bothered with more than filling a request
These things are mostly gonna come out of weird indie people, I think You need a lot of creativity, or a lot of samples, to get a good one of these things
And creativity is fucking DEAD in the large studios

While this argument I'm totally going ot win is interesting, I just remembered something else that was shocking that happened to me other day. I found out someone I know online is a shimakaze cosplayer (male). Isn't that shocking?
>>110995 Maybe you will get her on the remaining days of golden week.

the person doing the training is making all the other trainees really confused and conflicting rules i am thankful i already know what i'm doing and the questions are basic to me but i really wonder whether this company knows what it's doing
I would like to get Cag. I'm a bit of a luckshitter but I got terrible rolls on my 10 rolls

I'm glad I got lucky! But when you think about it you have to get really lucky. It's like what a 6% chance, and then whatever chance split between all the SSRs in the oh no you're right! Anyway then it's like whatever chance split between everyone in the pool/
>>111033 Yeah I can definitely see that with all the oil and cheese in the prep. Probably one of those dishes you would have to tweak ratios until it suits you.
My sleep has been so weird today. I went to bed at like 6 AM, and was woken up at 9AM by me being called in to work. Then I worked half a day, came home, slept to about 3 PM, and now I need to nap again soon.

24 hour time is handy sometimes
Anno
Counting up to twelve is much nicer, aesthetically, in the English language than having to say "twenty-one" and suchwhat. Like, "twenty-one in the evening" compared to "nine in the evening". I'll use a twelve-hour count when I'm talking time, but I like to stick to twenty-four hour time when I'm typing it out.
BTW atleast here we don't always go "it airs at 23" No we just say "it airs at 11" and context explains when it at we use both 15 and 3 meaning da same thing
I don't think that either is that much easier than the other. Saying "three p.m." isn't really any easier or harder than saying "fifteen hundred hours"
Yeah more I think about it is more of a culture an shit related thing english has the 24h timetable real awkardly pronounced, cause it is only used in special cases but other languages don't cause y a know they actually use it
Ai tosi ekkai vain ole sarkastinen tai kautta ironinen
