It's like designing a pesticide, but spending an absurd amount of resources to make sure the bottle you keep it in is a perfect habitat for the pests you're trying to kill Why would you do that
X4 has a combination of all 3 of those hahah Actually I think, though I can't remember ENTIRELY for sure, it has the 4th as well, jumpdrives (which are essentially teleportation) You've got the highway circling the primary systems, connected directly to the stargates (which all systems that can be accessed have) and then you also have a hyperdrive that lets you go super fast in basically just a straight line, which can be faster than the highway for some ships I think
For bigger ships, the hyperdrive is the only viable way of going any real distance, and it's not even all that fast due to the mass it's moving
And then on top of all that the player also has advanced tech that lets you speed up time, once you unlock it anyway
There are some highways elsewhere too, but the main one is the one circling through the primary systems Like the fish people's systems, in the DLC, have their own highway that goes through their primary systems, unconnected because their stargates have been out of commission until the DLC

one of the more fun things you can do fairly early in the game is get a scout ship from the religious fundamentalists, hook it up with their beefies engines, and hit the hyperdrive cause that thing fucking ZOOMS it is so absurdly fucking fast

ya I been completing tons of the training goals it's sort of redundent to craft a fine meal but it probally comes into play crafting other more essential object or tech later on in the game ED was like that too were you search out for tech in jettisoned ship and grab the tech and rev-eng the chip sets. Thought that was really cool, seems like X4F is the same way.

Oh right yeah, the like, random junk you collect and can craft that isn't "cargo" Yeah MOST of that stuff is very minor extra change you can make if you're boots-on-the-ground on station anyway and sell to traders, it's not really worth it as a focus THOUGH Specifically spacefly eggs can be made into caviar, and that's well worth it to go through the effort for, hooking you up with millions of credits The eggs themselves, and the caviar, is illegal in most of the galaxy, but you can get them very reliably by killing and hoovering up the loot from AI (as in the AI faction, not any and all NPCs) ships
Very good early game money can be made by just chilling at uuuh Hatikvah's Choice I Up by the gate that goes into unclaimed space, next to the one going to NE, you can just kinda hang out and slurp up loot from occasionally invading AI ships that the locals blast out of space Basically everything they drop is fairly valuable, and you can farm rep by joining in the fighting too, just STAY THE FUCK AWAY from the big boys. Do not fucking engage the BIG boys until you know what you're doing, they will demolish you and your whole squad unless you are beefed up like crazy or cheese them
I can see the laggy issue has gotten a bit better but all around it sucks but from play throught a major battle it didn't really effect it that much so I'm not worried if this rig can keep out so much.

Actually, just as a pro tip You're gonna want to beef up some ships before you get too far into a playthrough and station them at the gate in Hatikvah's Choice I Left to their own devices, the NPC faction there will gradually lose the fight to the AI incursions, and you really don't want to lose Hatikvah's Choice, as it is your primary entrypoint to the rest of the factions' space from your own HQ (you're given it at some point in your playthrough as long as you have the required DLC)

granted, you're not gonna be able to do much about the big boys, as mentioned they're fucking brutal and require either a similarly big ship to handle, or manual fighting by the player cause the NPC pilots will get fucking shredded by it If you see one show up near your boys, pull them away ASAP or you will legit just lose them
X4 is really a lot of choices along how much you want to cheese it You can do stupid shit like hyperdrive boarding, which effectively just gives you free ships by abusing the fact the game allows you to board ships without ever engaging them in combat, and allows you to deploy drop pods mid-hyperdrive (which I don't think you should be able to, but you can)
In earlier X games, drop pods would just fry on impact if the target's shields are still up, but not in X4, so you can build up a fleet really fucking fast if you're willing to abuse what most consider an exploit

Also, once you start production and industry, good tip is to find a system with a lot of sun and just dump a fucking massive solar panel array in there with enough (like, a lot eventually) docking stations Cause energy is used for just about literally everything, costs 0 to produce, and as a result is a good place to just dump your traders in training and just to soak passive income
Bright Promise is a good place to plop it down On the highway, well connected, lotta sunlight A big far from your own HQ, so you'll want a smaller one there for local production as well, but it's one of those set it and forget it type stations
Just make it huge and make sure the first thing that's constructed is the docks, and you can just pour some more money into it over time There is a limit to how much production is effective, cause the AI doesn't just need infinite all the time, but like, you don't lose a lot by overdoing it either, cause again there's no production cost beyond the upgront credits of construction
Also if you enter a ship as a friend before you start boarding it, you can get one of these cool experiences You can't DO anything here, for the record, it's just kind of an eventuality they didn't account for

. was grinding the Umamusume story lines Haru Urara's story is sort of sad it's like she gives it everything and has a bit of a strugle and is just down to help out an ton. But doesn't give up on her way, so she got a big heart and it's a bit sad but when she has success you really can route for her hard maybe?
The other runners are more confident and the story is good so far, think I got like most of them watched up to 7/7. Idk gold ships sorty is funny B/C shes all ways yelling and takes you off gaurd with enthusiasm. Scarlets race is is fun watching too she allways helping other racers or awear of whats doing down.
I bought the hyperion pack, which is one ship and one star system Not exactly a lot for the cost, but they do release basically all the other shit for free as patches so

this data work ain't bad it's pretty fun and engaging to my brainstuff but each project has a boatload of instruction sets to read to make sure people on the project understand how the data points are being categorized and the instruction sheets are always written in a somewhat ungratifying and blurry way where your brain stops paying attention and it all gets sloshed together and you stop paying attention
i should try to reach out to them and be like hey yall need a technical writer to help with documentation and process integration but they'd still have to try to communicate all the data structures to me first so that i could make it presentable so im not sure it actually solves any of their communication issues in the first place...
