It's very similar, but somewhat different still It's a lot less gambling themed, but the overall conceit is the same It's more psychological in nature than gambling Hence the name, most of the games are kinda rooted in pulling a fast one on the opponents

>>986432 Liar Game has, seemingly, both a 2season Japanese live action adaptation, 2 movies, and 1 season of Korean live action I think I watched the Japanese one Dunno if I ever watched the movies though

Apparently a South Korean ISP is suing netflix for making a show that's too popular "Netflix made a show that's simply too popular, and now all our customers are using the bandwidth they pay for, which is obviously a crime committed against us by netflix, and not us selling a product we don't have" This shit is so stupid
s c
Even ignoring the net neutrality stuff, it's obvious the crime here is selling something you don't have, not being the reason people are buying it
Kirara 🍄 大医 /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
I think all ISPs sell things they don't have If everyone wanted to use the bandwith they are paying for at once the internet would crash
Also isn't it standard for an internet connection subscription being like, you pay for a minimum, up to a maximum? Like you're paying for a speed up to 10MB/s or whatever, but you're not guaranteed more than 1MB/s at any given time if the network load is high?
Also netflix themselves are already paying for their own subscription, too, so it's not like they're just mooching in the first place It's probably a different ISP, but those two ISPs have some sorta deal with each other

I have never had wine outside of like, holidays when I lived with my dad, and also sometimes scampering about in the night and just stealing some while I lived with my dad, so I have no preference for brand He mostly bought box wine anyway
s c
>>986547 Only beer and cider in grocery stores We've got a government owned and operated liquor store for everything above like 4,7%
>>986549 oh wow i think more than half of the beers i buy regularly ("regularly") are more than that but i have a preference for belgian trippels, which are usually pretty alcoholic, 10+%
It's a vestigial rule from the abolition times The solution to abolition was the government liquor store, sweden does the same
I usually just buy very strong stuff from the liquor store, though, if I buy cider or beer it's mostly cause I forgot or couldn't be bothered to go to the liquor store before it closed >>986554 Yeah, long time ago
Anno
you guys abolished alcohol too? the US did in like the 20's
there's still counties in some states that disallow alcohol above certain percents i lived in one that was surrounded by counties that didn't care so i always had to drive about 10 minutes to buy wine or liquor weird that they do that
It's mostly just a case of it not being sufficiently politically expedient to run on changing it, I think
Anno
yeah, definitely there's a law in Texas that disalllows liquor stores from operating on Sunday, initially because it's the sabbath but it never changed and nowadays the biggest argument for not changing it is a pretty strong one - because it would suck for the workers, and the stores operate just fine the way they are so hopefully it stays that way
Rei@mobile

It's been forever since we really talked, and I'm not good at remembering stuff >>986695 Aw man, did kirara not figure out a way to record it properly or something? I vaguely remember you were gonna send it to him
月
i was able to manually record it by playing it through an aux cord in my car then recording it through the airspace it was very low-fidelity but better than nothing
still annoyed that there weren't real solutions available for that i had downloaded some apps that record calls, but they only record outgoing signals (your output) and incoming signals (the person on the other line), and since voicemails are a system message , it doesn't recognize it as either of those and it got omitted
i tried plugging it into my laptop and recording on audacity but that didn't even come close to working like i thought it would
anyway i was satisfied enough with the low-fidelity that i kept it and stopped worrying about it >>986694 yeah there's a "send this voicemail to another person" forwarding option in the voicemail menu i tried forwarding it to three different people and none of them got it one of them used the same service provider too and also didn't get it i don't really understand what went wrong with that but i'm not surprised since it's AT&T
Weird that there isn't a "download voicemail" option, really When I get voicemails, which is really only from scammers but still, it's always just sent to me as a file
Rei@mobile
>>986697 I don't get voicemails because my mailbox has been full for like a decade. my "leave me a message" recording is like 14~ years old too.
maybe if you're like a toddler but here voicemails are used by everyone especially when it comes to having a job like you wouldnt leave a friend a vm but pretty much anyone else you do

My dad hasn't had a landline for the last like, 7 years or some shit, most people just have a cell phone, even my grandma doesn't have a landline anymore It's just outdated and meaningless tech
Landlines are better for the opposite reason cell phones are better Cell phones are always available, which is a detriment in some contexts

>>986751 the only thing i need really is how the characters know each other but even without that i could throw something together to get a starting session
maybe you've got a different approach, since I was kinda just thrust into it and had to make stuff from scratch, and kinda needed the players to fill in some blanks to GENERATE SOME FUCKING STORY FOR ME TO WORK WITH BUT THEY NEVER BOTHERED TO GIVE A GODDAMN ABOUT ANY OF IT
Rei@mobile
>>986754 I usually dont do much background story and leave it vague I had a dm that would basically create family/friend npcs and hold them hostage to force my character to do things so I have all my characters be from the continent I control in the campaign setting
My approach is essentially 1. Come up with a story idea 2. Build a setting to accommodate it 3. Put the rest of the story together 4. Adjust whatever is necessary for the players to make themselves home in the world 5. Adjust things as we go along to match the themes the players are coming up with to keep a unified narrative that we build together
s c
THERE ARE STILL PLAYERS RIGHT NOW WHO HAVEN'T GENERATED A FUCKING CHARACTER
I wanted to plop the players down and have like, a short story with a few threads to pull on, but incorporate their backstories so there were motivating factors for everyone and maybe they'd like, have a small arc or the beginning of an arc for a possible extention of the story But NOBODY GAVE ME ANYTHING NOBODY
Rei@mobile
>>986758 if you played traveller they wouldnt even need to make up a backstory you'd just randomly generate it the best part of that is that in traveler characters can die during character creation!
I just incorporate their backstories as I go. So for example, there's no mafia in the setting, but if a player decided they were on the run from the mafia, I would just add in a mafia so we could use their backstory.
>>986762 The situation here was kinda special in that someone just wanted to get a group together for another person, and I volunteered to be the DM if nobody else would But then I and one other person turned out to be the only ones who fucking cared, so I jumped ship

Ideally, I won't even make a map. For some games, you need them. But for my Jojo game, for example, I'm only going to have some basic encounter maps for when positioning and stuff is actually important. The majority of the time, I'll just describe the room.
Rei@mobile
>>986791 so is my autistic dm for the game I'm playing today

You can just go like "you see a lot of weird paintings, and there's a door that has a very shiny, brass-like lock mechanism attached. Additionally, there's a colorful, soft-looking rug across the floor" >>986800 Brass has a distinct color
well obviously however you wana do it is your choice, I just think it seems like a waste of energy when you could just skip it If there isn't a fight likely to take place, the map isn't much use

when i dont have a physical map i get called lazy
!PAN/yhxnGc

!C0.PerkELE
in the end a map just needs to give information on where you are, where you can go, and such everything else is just additional work

on the more interesting side your players can go "we like this npc theyre ours now" and essentially turn one off characters into party friends and/or pets. >>986846 also this
>>986845 >>986846 both of those are fine though Like those are good
But murderhobos don't suck because it makes the game shitty for the other players, they suck because it makes the DM no different from the enemy dropper in Madness Interactive
ToN
yeah its in the more interesting side
murderhobos ruin things for everyone though actually wait yeah pan's right his was good plot centric murder hoboing is fine
!PAN/yhxnGc
sometimes your DM turns you into a murderhobo by giving you sword that gains power from blood sometimes that backfires on the DM worse when you murderhobo a bunch of people in a train who were actually yokai in disguise
>>986849 I will still cancel the game if the players take that and go "i'm gonna kill everyone :)" I don't fucking care, and I HAVE items like that in my ~LoRe~
sometimes your players will have a character so depraved they kill every orphan in a city as part of a punchline but youre just sitting there horrified because it's in line with their existing behavior

!PAN/yhxnGc
Technically it didn't make Noto do it Noto just did it Which is where another important factor comes in for this example >>986856 Backstory only matters so far Per backstory, Noto wouldn't have used a sword like I had in Kirara's campaign because his backstory started him with a different goal >>986861 More understandable, I just consider backstory the pre-campaign Everything during is current development But also the thing about weapons like that are that depending on how quickly it grows it'll reasonably create a strong desire to keep feeding it more Hence, power corrupts You get the taste and you just want more
s c
backstory is everything up until the current moment AFAIC
>>986860 If it's congruent with your character's changing personality over the course of the campaign, obviously that's what I wanted, and at worst it's on me I'm not gonna call something off because something didn't go how I wanted, obviously
But if up until that point your character was a goody two shoes and then they started killing every NPC they encountered after getting a sword that simply got better per kill, I'd call it off Because I'm just not interested in that game anymore

ive been stuck around 900 for a while now im just built that way slightly below your average chess.com player also, almost always drunk hahahah so that's my excuse also i suck at 5 min and usually die to time pressure so its nice to get a quick win like this once in a while
anyway to answer your question, we scrubs at 900 blunder all the time they shouldn't have taken with the queen
I mean I don't even know where I am in chess ELO, I don't have the attention span to actually play chess I expect I'm like, really, really, really low, like maybe 500
Maybe tomorrow if I'm still sober by the time you start playing though, could be fun >>987113 Mostly it's just a matter of getting to me before I crack open the booze I've got maybe like a liter of wine and a liter of vodka available, and knowing me, I'm gonna be drinking as soon as it feels right
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
:) hit me up if you feel like sparrin again
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
im on my second belgian tripel rn i need foooooood
>>987115 I always maximize the $:alcohol ratio when I buy booze, unless I'm buying something specific And the plastic 1L kalinkas are the best value for just straight booze I haven't cracked the bootle yet tho, I've just been drinking wine But it's a lotta wine
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
kalinka baybee idk never had it but ive had some pure vodkas so i imagine it's literally the same substance
Dude, if you buy Kalinka for ANY other reason than the alcohol content, you're fucking up It's shit, tastes like poison, only good for mixing and getting absolutely hammered It's 40% potato alcohol You mix it with OJ and it's good stuff, or if you're a lunatic you drink it straight, which is OK with some ice I guess Vodka with ice is surprisingly not that bad
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
oh jeez i dont drink much vodka tbh these days mostly either tequila/margs or negronis
vodka and rum are what I primarily drink, cause I mix it with sugary stuff like juice and cola I don't really like the taste of alcohol, but like I've probably said a lot of times while out of my mind, I genuinely, sincerely, hate being sober So when I drink, I'm really just trying to get really drunk And once I tip a certain point I lose control and I get fucked up
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
margs are my favorite the best cocktail worth messin around with limes for
margaritas are p good, but I dunno how to make them, and also I don't have margarita glasses, and those are kinda part of the Good Part You need the salt and the whatever
I DO wanna make vodka ice cubes sometime though Well, jello cubes, but still
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
i just put them in a whisky tumbler no salt two shots tequila one shot orange liqueur one squeezed lime and a big ice cube
s c
what the FUCK is a whisky tumbler
ToN
its a tumbler for whisky as in a container meant to contain it
s c
The only tumbler I know about is for cryptocoins! Is it like those two cups bartenders put on top of eachother and shake?
it's probably just preference, but I kinda like just cutting it up with scissors in a shotglass Probably wasteful tbh, but it still means the uh... dust or whatever gets included in all but the first joint
But I haven't had the money to buy weed for OVER A YEAR
oh no, different guy but I also know him through the same place
I've always cut my weed with scissors It's never been weird though?
/人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
oh right cutting like probably is common I've seen someone else do it I don't smoke so I don't know much about weeds >>987159 no I mean the stuff was weird I dunno why but when you mentioned cutting with scissors I remembered that certain guy from that time
s c
I don't own a grinder, and getting one is a hassle
>>987160 if I've given the impression the weed I got was weird, it's probably cause if I mix anything with it, I get completely messed up and puke my guts out
i want to sip coffee in the glass-windowed sitting room of a mountainside lodge, a few meters from a lit fireplace, with a volume of the K-ON! manga on the table in front of me, and rachmaninoff playing from a bluetooth speaker nearby
it's as though i haven't had these feelings in a while they're almost new again, with the discomfort that brings so long i lived every day like this, i think it's hard to remember now i'm sure it will pass so maybe i should savor the melancholy while it visits
I was watching the norm podcast and they made a joke was almost like it was from the hard times >I wouldn't call myself a fan of steampunk but I will say it's the healthiest way to prepare punk
>>987376 he had a monologue on hitler went something like >this hitler guy sounds terrible we should really do something >well actually he died in the 1940s >he died? I didn't even know he was sick
oh nice i haven't tried the new one yet i don't even remember when it switched, it has right? the low-tide high-tide one was annoying but easy this one sounded annoying too
shockingly the best way to get through the newer ones is to have rolled for the newest 5 star character in the gacha. Lots of fire and there's a poison, damage-over-time mechanic so you need double healers
Anno
hmmm will diona on my ayaka team and noelle on my other team work? will it be hard to use yanfei on team noelle, will i have to use keqing oh god please no
how can you guys play gachas? isn't it too life-consuming? genuinenly curious
Anno
keqing is probably my favorite exploring/overworld unit but she isn't so great in domains or abyss
Anno
>>987406 almost all of the year, it's an optional 30 minutes a day every now and then there's events where there's more game to play and it's usually nice when it happens but it's not really that all-consuming the urge to spend money only really comes when there's a particularly cool character that comes out or something but it's also so not worth it in terms of how expensive rolls are that it's easy to just prefer f2p
>>987409 okay I see, that doesn't sound too life-consuming, although if I was actually having fun I'm not sure I could watch my habit stay 30min a day only >>987410 lmao that's fair
do you guys keep track of how much you've already spent on gachas?
interesting, 300 is really not a whole lot so who cares I've met people with really compulsive personalities however and I wouldn't trust them to keep it a small habit or control their budget >>987422 how does one spend over 300 on DnD? I thought you buy a book and that's it lol
>>987420 yeah i mean in relative terms it's more than i've spent on all but like 3 or 4 games but also it's less than i've spent on DnD or warhammer and i barely even play those
Rei@mobile
>>987421 my dad is sick of it he said he heard it too much when it came out
Rei@mobile
>>987422 ive spent like $80~ on warhammer D&D uhjj maybe $100 but im distinguishing D&D from other rpgs
>>987420 i've purchased 3 PHB's one DMG monster manual volo's storm king all 5e and then a few grid mats dice some minis pens notebooks markers etc i'm sure i've spent like 500ish total including like two years of a roll20 sub
>>987424 oh I see I see >>987428 damn, that's a lotta stuff makes me a bit jelly although I would need to build a network of dnd enjoyers to use all of that
>>987433 are you stuck playing? can you not just canonically die within your groups storyline? >>987436 that's a valid reason, but it's an odd one to justify playing at all I would go to such lengths too to spent time with good friends after all
Rei@mobile
>>987435 im not stuck playing a friend of mine is running a campaign and I play it because I want to hamg out with him i meam i guess I enjoy it but im sick of D&D
Rei@mobile
>>987434 that's kind of fucked up i dont know all the details but that sounds a bit irresponsible
none of my dms have ever owned more than one someone else always brought one
Anno
when you end up DM'ing for a lot of casuals or people who are new to it having extra PHB's is really nice and particularly helpful for group character creating sessions which you also gotta consider can end up being like a third or even half of the experience for people who might not get more than a few sessions into a campaign
some of my bias towards 5e is also because of this
Ive always considered GMing a pain in the ass so I rarely do it when I do its just one off sessions with modules usually dcc rpg occassionally 3.5
Anno
it's definitely a pain but it's exceedingly fulfilling when you're able to get the right group of people but also i tend to go hard in the motherfucking paint i go on a worldbuilding rampage
Rei@mobile
>>987451 keeping track of an entire world is a pain in the ass I cant remember everything and I suck at note taking
Anno
roll20 and a few composition notebooks go a long way
Anno
honestly roll20 was extremely instrumental in running a strong campaign for me
before that, i just had a bunch of posterboards and notebooks for all my maps and everything >>987456 i could see that pnp also sucks for 3.5 in my opinion keeping track of 3.5 is rough too
Rei@mobile
cool roll20 really sucks for 3.5 btw its decent for GURPS though
i do recognize what they were trying to do with 4 i mean on the business side, they were just being the greediest wotc's ever been imo but on the game side, i do mostly see 5e as 4 but instead of doing everything wrong they did things mostly right
Rei@mobile
i will never forgive them for switching to forgotten realms as the default setting though
>>987479 oh now as far as that goes i should also note that my opinion on editions mostly exists on their overall gameplay framework and numbers systems as well as the amount of available content and data sheets the lore is somewhat less important to me because i tend to throw literally all of that out of the window and make my own
Rei@mobile
>>987482 i'm not going to discuss my opinions about the rules right now cause I havent read the 5e rules in years
but by switching from greyhawk it feels like theyre abandoning the origins of D&D greyhawk was the default setting for decades because it was originally Gygax's campaign setting almost every spell with a name in the form X's Y was named after a character played by someone in Gygax's campaign so throwing all that away felt really disrespectful and alienating
Rei@mobile
oh also they did all that but kept Vecna?
Rei@mobile
and I think Acererak
Rei@mobile
oh also i cant think of forgotten realms without thinking of all the creepy perverted sex stuff from Ed Greenwood's books that is still canon because WotC never released anything stating otherwise.
>>987496 >>987485 yeah like i said i don't really mess with any of the pre-written lore or whatever to me, most of the fun of DM'ing comes from creating all that stuff well maybe almost half running the campaign or one-shot itself is also really fun
but most of the self-satisfaction comes from the creation creating characters and nations and politics and geographies and places and magics and all that juicy stuff
for me using the stuff already written is less fun i guess good for filling in gaps >>987511 what kind of orc chieftan are these the kinds of orcs that actually have some kind of organization in their society, or is the heirarchy just "strongest orcs leads" we could have anything from a sliding income tax to "give me your food or my goons beat you because i feel like it"
