With FF7, the amount of sheer detail they pack into every town makes me feel like they really labored on this one. The cities feel so alive. I'm loving everything about this remake it fills me with the same childlike wonder the original did and I'm gonna be sad when it's over and I have to wait years for the continuation.

I feel like with RE2 they took their time shifting the engine they used for RE7 to make a third-person-shooter and the development cycle was longer for that. Which gave them a bit of extra time to polish stuff up. But RE3 seems to have come out way faster and while it still looks visually stunning I think the shorter time means they cut more of the original game than they would have in RE2, and there's just less density of content once you subtract the visual extrodinaire it is. Like with RE2 you get to play as both Claire and Leon to get the full story of the game but RE3 is only one storyline, that probably takes about the same time you would take to do a playthrough of RE2 with only Claire or Leon. Maybe a bit more but still, it does feel less content-dense than RE2 did.

I think the Resident Evil remakes still employ those unlockable difficulty levels and extra challenges. I don't actually play the games because I don't have the money to be spending on games that I find neat but I'm not like geared to pick up at an 80 CAD price tag. But I watch playthroughs because they're really fun to watch people be awful at. Which DOES mean I don't really often get the advantage of the unlocked harder difficulties though, so the games feel kind of light in content in review to me. Maybe once I get some stimulus -- and only if the games are on a good sale, I'll consider getting one.

I think Florida is probably the state that's been hit worst by the coronavirus. We still barely have testing going on and we have like a 6% higher prevelence of flu-like symptoms than usual.

In Florida, we have a lot of situations like, people going to nursing homes and finding a bunch of people dead there. It's not being reported much but a lot of people in Florida are dying alone in their homes and have yet to be discovered. And it's going to get worse. They just reopened the beaches even though we haven't even reached peak yet. People are protesting their inability to go to the hair dresser and stuff. Everything is bad and it's gonna get a lot worse.

I've heard the hairdresser and similarly inane complaints from various parts of the States. There's even a much smaller but still vocal group of people here complaining that the safety measures are going way too far. Some lawyer wrote in to a couple papers expressing his disdain that he can't even use chin-up bars in city-owned parks without law enforcement requiring him stop.
We don't have an order to wear masks here yet though. I'm sure a lot of people are wearing them regardless of course, but we're not mandated at any level of government to do so. I might just start wearing my scaf again if I go out. Masks feel a bit claustrophobic to me.
There are some places in the US where not wearing a mask can get you arrested right now. Which is stupid. It'd be cheaper to give people masks.

Giving people masks doesn't necessarily incentivize them to wear them though. I guess for the people that are stupidly stubborn about not wearing some kind of face protection, they've chosen the stick as incentivization to get them to do so. Reminds me of those Italian mayors that were saying stuff like "If you want to host a graduation party we'll come after your set-up with flamethrowers". There's still a lot of people who are determined to downplay the severity of the pandemic and would scoff at anything less than legal requirement to wear a mask. With them, I don't know what else there is to do but leverage the law.

>>831718 Up here, while I don't think there's been any imprisonable offences in regards to the pandemic laws, there's still a lot with legal penalities for doing so. But it's not like the law enforcement is champing at the bits to slam any offenders with it when caught. I've heard quite a few stories of people getting let off with a warning, having been made clear what the penalty for doing so intentionally is. So the notion of getting sent straight to jail on the first offense is weird to me, at least for these pandemic measures. I can't imagine the point is to actually get people in jail for refusing to wear the masks, but to make very clear the penalty for doing so. That's the leverage as I would understand it.
I ordered my favorite meal from a local restaurant tonight but something about it just feels empty. Maybe it's because I'm not enjoying it with friends. I wonder how people celebrate things alone.
