I haven't seen The Shield, but judging by the description, no.

I have such a hard time focusing with intent, it's really frustrating. Like, the moment I try to zero in on one thing, my brain automatically starts running through all the things I could be doing instead.
Even this is a form of that function really.
And it's not like I'm incapable of focusing on principle, I can naturally flow into focusing on something and hold that focus for hours and hours on hand.
But trying to willfully switch from casual thought to focused attention feels like an impossible task for me most of the time.

That's definitely a component.
After all, if I had the willpower to overcome the impulse to go do these other things my brain come s up with then there wouldn't be an issue.
And it's not like I've ever been a particularly disciplined person.
Just not having to weather distracting impulses in the first place would be nice too.
