How does the stomach avoid sending stomach acid with the food further into the system anyway? Does it avoid it?
Samurai !KW2DbpWwls
my guess is the sphincter only opens when the stomach is relatively neutral

sort of, your intestines are relatively resistant to acidic stuff too the pyloric sphincter lets stuff through in waves until there isn't any more food left in the stomach the stomach also doesn't produce that much chyme unless there's something to digest or you're VERY hungry

The magic world was where my interest really picked up, hah hah. From a story point of view it got a lot more bogged down and the reasons were kind of absurd. >shields were used in ancient Japan but fell out of favour. I think the main reason for this was the predilection of Japanese warriors for two handed weapons, most notably the spear and bow. Both of these are important battlefield weapons, for obvious reasons, and were the preferred weapons of samurai. Samurai were also first and foremost skilled horsemen in the Edo period however stirrups were not developed in Japan forcing the samurai to hold reins or grip onto the saddle with their knees whilst using a bow. A shield was impractical for horseback fighting.
