the team agreed to learn magic and ended up in a strange land surrounded by trees. they met a little rodent-like thing called a zoog which only thomas could understand for some reason. the zoog led them through the forest until they met a group of small people and ended up fighting them
after that they killed a big ass wolf and it turned out to be thomas' spirit anima;
the wolf also is on fire
so they went through a cave where they met a bitchy deer which ended up being VV's spirit animal

I turn to Thomas' wolf familiar. "So we're still to keep going through this cave, until we reach a city, correct? Is there much more to this cave system?"

The fires of the wolf intensify. "Yes, that is correct."

He adds, "As far as I am aware, the cave is fairly simple as long as we do not stray from this path."

"Well then," I shift the shoulder strap of my bag. "Let's not dally too long under this mountain.

"Wonder if we'll end up running into another interesting spirit animal soon."

"Yes, let us not dilly dally!" the bitchy deer announces.

Thomas proceeds to not dilly dally.

"Yes, I suppose we should hurry."

"Have any of you ever had curry?"

The firewolf's fire burns even more fiery than before, lighting up the cave as he leads the way down the tunnel.

There's a place near my flat that does some good Indian food.

"I've had curry twice, and the second time there was some leftover sauce, and I watched as it coagulated and then realized that it was doing that inside me and then I had some really awful trips to the restroom. It was sad times. Which is really unfortunate because it tastes pretty good."

the group emerges from the cave and finds themselves standing outside the gate to a large town /// large city
Skyscrapers rise in the distance
To the onlookers, it might resemble London or New York in size
Or maybe even Chicago

"I hope that we can avoid any instances of us having to kill the indigenous peoples this time."

"Oh no are we in Chicago?"

The streets are littered with people - all of them visible ecstatic. The team can tell they are happy by the big grins on their faces as they go about their business.

"No, it can't be. We'd be at the corner of Ridge and Lake right now, and these street signs don't match up."

"Can they...see, our giant animal companions?"

"These people don't look right. Should I try and communicate with one, boss?"

The wolf speaks up. "They should not be able to see us."

"Lucky us," I mutter under my breath. I tap the shoulder of one of the citizens as they walk past us. "Hey, what's the occasion, sir? Some kind of holiday or celebration today?"

The citizen stops, having walked past Felicity. His head turns around to make eye contact at a nearly 270 degree rotation. err 170

He looks Felicity up and down and smiles even bigger than before. "Why, hello! Everyday is a holiday here!"

"A day off is always a good day in my book. I wonder what kind of holidays this place has going on?"

"Sounds lovely, sir. What do you all do for your holidays?"

"We're going to the park to celebrate, of course! Come with us, neighbor! It'll be a great time!"

"Does this sound like a good idea to you, Peter?" Thomas asks his wolf buddy.

"I do not know if it is a good idea or not. What do you think, master?" replies the wolf.

"These guys are a little spooky."

"I'm basically concerned that we'll end up in a bad situation, but we need to pick up clues and stuff."

"We should have as little to do with these people as possible. Why are we here, anyway?"

"Because Thomas' ex-rat-friend told us to go here, which was later encouraged by his new wolf-friend...why are we here, anyway?"

"I mean, if Peter says go it's probably a good idea."

The man's neck suddenly extends, bringing him face-to-face with VV. "You're here to celebrate with us, aren't you? Let's have some fun together!"

"YOOOOOOOO"

"I thought you said they could not see us. I'm quite cross with this current series of events. Get it away!"

"I think iot's because you touched one, boss."

Peter looks like he's shrugging even though he's a quadruped. "I said they could not see us, not you!"

Extendoneck Happyguy brings his face closer to VV's, his neck /// his snake-like neck swaying in the air.

"Maybe, but I get the feeling they would have been upon us in time. We don't exactly fit in!"

"Hey, bud. Lay off the girl, would you? We'll celebrate with you, but at our own pace." I step forward and put another hand on his shoulder, this one not so gentle.

"That's pretty fair. Unfortunate, but fair."

When Felicity places her hand on his shoulder, his snake-like neck whips back and circles himself and Felicity. He makes eye contact with Felicity for a moment and then starts emitting a bloodcurdling scream. Almost immediately, however, a large spear falls from the sky, piercing its head and pinning it to the ground.

A man in a black cloak, his face obscured, calls out from a nearby alley. "Over here!"

VV breathes a sigh of relief.

"You know, I honestly didn't think this was going to get more bizarre, and yet here we are."

At the sound of scream, I recoil back, then stumble a few steps backwards as the giant spear impales him.

Looking towards the sound of the voice, I hasten towards the alley it came from.

Thomas wobbles his way over to the black clad fellow.

He waves over to VV. "You too, come on! Hurry it up!"

Thomas also waves over at VV but shrugs too because god knows if this guy isn't more crazy than extendo neck friendo

VV walks over, cautiously.

"Follow me," he walks quickly towards the open door of a cafe and enters.

"I could afford to get a nice cup of drink."

I follow him inside and lean against a wall near the door.

Inside the cafe is a number of tables, mostly empty. At one table in particular, however, sits a familiar face - one belonging to Archie.
The cloaked man heads into what looks to be the kitchen area of the cafe without a word.

"Looking good, boss."

"Well, a good day to you, sir. It's been a few days, hasn't it."

"Has it really? Hmm." Archie tilts his head to the left.

Thomas holds his hands to his face in a kyaa pose.

"Could you explain basically everything with this situation?"

"What situation?" asks Archie, clearly perplexed.

"Sir, how long has it been since you left your estate in Massachusetts?"

"I'm right where I am supposed to be, friend. I've always been here!" he says with a laugh.

Thomas smiles. "It's been a while, sir."

"You are Archibald Hamlin, correct?"

"Of course I am! Who else could I be?"

Thomas turns to see if he can identify the cloaked man better. Perhaps he is our strange butler manservant guy'

"What do you mean what situation? You're camped out in a town of noodle people in some kind of alternate dimension!"

"Nonsense, friend!" he says with a laugh.

The cloaked man comes out of the kitchen area with a cup of coffee and takes a seat at a vacant table. "Why are you talking to it?"

"Because assuming that he is the same as he's ever been, this is a person I treasure dearly."

"We're probably a bit out of the loop, uh, sir. This sort of situation isn't exactly something we're familiar with."

He stands up and takes a closer look at Felicity. "Don't I know you?"

Forgive me sir, but it's hard to know if we've met if you insist on staying cloaked as you are."

"Oh, sorry." He removes his head. /// haha fuck

He removes his hood.
His face is that of an indian man and it seems a familiar one. "My name is Chicagoua."

"Oh my gosh is it you my dude, from all that time ago when we met a dude"

"My dude? What sort or saying is that?"

"Chicagoua..? I can't remember that name from anywhere. Where did we meet?"

"It's Chicago man"

"Yes, we've met before! Though I may not have seemed quite sane last time. It's much more difficult to remain lucid in the waking world and all, you know."

"Well I apologize on behalf of my limited memory then, sir. But thank you for giving us a moment's respite from the people outside. You seem to have a much better understanding of what is all happening here than us. Could you help us understand exactly what the situation is?"

"Yes, please explain everything about this situation. There is not a single thing that makes sense."

He looks a bit confused. "How did you get here if you don't know anything? You're all from the waking world, aren't you?"

"We were sent here to learn magic from our new best friend."

"We're on the tracks of our benefactor," I gesture to Hamlin, sitting at the table, "who went on ahead of us. It's likely that our search will find us in conflict with someone who posses weapons we have little hope of overcoming by ourselves, so on the behest of an Indian chief in Wyoming, we have travelled, first to other places in this land, and now here, searching for the ability to overcome these weapons. Other than that, we have little insight or understanding of why we are here specifically."

I narrow my eyes, shifting closer to the wall. "I suppose. The chief who sent us here was not particularly clear on what we would be doing, but that does sound like what the end goal was supposed to be."
