Anno
I want to say April, maybe May Although at that time there were replacement buses running the leg of my transit which is now a streetcar Which honestly were far more timely and less stressful to catch than the streetcar And then after a couple months of catching a streetcar along that route, they had to reroute the streetcar for a month or two of track maintenance And that rerouting was still a better and more convenient route than the original one It seems every time they have to change from the standard streetcar route I need to take, they end up improving my transit But inevitably they have to revert back to the worse, standard route

As weird as it is, having segmented pieces of food like that probably does help with weight loss Portion control is an important part of dieting, especially if you don't want to give up food variety and kinds of food which aren't conducive to losing weight When you're fixing yourself dinner it's harder to control how much exactly you're making yourself unless you're being pretty anal about the meal prep These cubed foods offload that effort onto the vendor, so all you're left with the responsibility of is exercising the control over taking only as much as you need

gundams probably kill the drivers by hooking in too deeply to their nervous system or something

GUNDAM ISN'T ONE SERIES?
S C
I thought it was all one or two timelines and the shows were just stories from different times and places along it
Kirara 🍄 大医 /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
No, there are a lot of different timelines. Universal Century is the one Amuro is from, it's the first one. That includes 0079, Zeta, ZZ, Char's Counterattack, Unicorn, NT, Hathaway's Flash, and a bunch of others. Future Century is the timeline G Gundam takes place in. Gundam Wing is in After Colony/Mars Century. Turn A Gundam is in Correct Centure, and then you have SEED which is in Cosmic Era. Gundam 00 takes place in AD AGE is Advanced Generation Reglid Century is Reco-G but that technically takes place like a thousand years after UC, and is the only one like that Then there's Iron Blooded Orphans which takes place in Post Disaster timeline
The G-witch timeline is called Ad Stella. We don't know much about it yet.
If I was gonna watch one Gundam other than this one and all I know about mecha is ttgl, Eva, gunbuster and muvluv, which would you recommend? I'm moderately interested but I don't wanna just end up watching one I'm not even able to get interested in
I mean I know those all have aliens but that's not important, I know Gundam generally don't
Kirara 🍄 大医 /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
The one most likely to pull you in is Iron Blooded Orphans which is about child soldiers trying to carve out a place in the world for themselves after they've been discarded and then free themselves from slavery. It's pretty popular and has a lot of big, cool moments.
I think Zeta Gundam is the best gundam series but you need 0079 for that so there's a lot more investment before you get to the best part. And then ZZ sucks and you have to watch that before you can watch Char's Counterattack.

S C
oh no that's a sample? I must have saved it from twitter and not noticed
Kirara 🍄 大医 /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
Well, it's different in every Gundam series. In UC, most of the poor people were forced into the Space Colonies. And Earth was left for the wealthy and stuff. By the time of Victory Gundam, Earth has been nearly completely abandoned in order to allow it to heal from what the humans did to it.
Sometimes the spacenoids are the wealthier ones but it's rare.

Yeah. Tomino was born in 41 so he didn't really see the war, but he saw its aftermath. He saw the oppression of the US on his people as well as the oppression of his own government on them. He also struggled pretty badly with depression for a very long time.

>>1066904 It's been a go to meal for me when I don't wanna do anything much, but need food, yeah Especially cause my fridge has been a fucking warzone forever and I never got around to clearing It out, so all I've really had for food is canned stuff and such non fridge food
That and honestly it's way better than ham and cheese
Anno
Way better But I also don't like deli meats
S C
I do, but I dunno, there's just a lack of real taste somehow Ham is nice on some fresh bread or equivalent like a baguette, but on just like, bread it kinda sucks

love to pig out tbh I just go to the fridge and stand there shoving cold leftovers into my mouth like cold pasta and rice dont even care tehe
If something's meant to be eaten hot, I definitely prefer it hot At the very least I'll nuke it, but re-heating stuff in the oven or on the stove is pretty normal for me
Nezi
>>1066913 leftovers suck i'll eat cold pizza but any fresh dish like stir fry, fried rice, curry, etc. all better hot/fresh death 2 leftovers!
thanks to NL i just learned about aquamation which is like cremation but instead they put you in a sous vide bath for like 10 hours like 16-18 hours at 200 deg F is one method mmm mmmm

Probably Orga Mikazuki is cool and good, but he does kinda lack a little bit of depth

Orga is pretty cool. I like Akihiro a lot.

There's so much funny stuff in IBO Like the pedo villain
S C
Isn't it just a marriage for politics though? I don't think he 'likes' the kid any more than he does anyone else in the aristocracy, it's just useful for his plans
What continues to impress me in IBO is that so far, all the English has been correct Like even the blurbs that are on screen for like a few frames, the English isn't some sort of messed up engrish just ran through google translate
Kirara 🍄 大医 /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\

It really does contrast with most anime

I mentioned to my boss that I probably hadn't spoken to anyone between saying bye on Friday afternoon and hi to her on monday morning and she's like awwwwwwwwwww Like I said something really sad but I just meant it like a fun piece of trivia and a bit of an anecdote about how quiet my weekend was
Anno
Yeah some times you just gotta own it when you say stuff like that Tell her some times it's nice to have a quiet weekend like that Just don't tell her how many weekends are quiet weekends like that
Nezi
I don't think I've spoken to a human being since my roommate left wait no I said hello to the neighbor on a walk today, I'm being social!
>>>/@Sors67483113/1578884323729899521 the amount of drama and gatekeeping about human vs ai art these days man it's like we're living through the invention of the printing press
Rei !p8eYCadcMo
>>1067048 Well At least people who make AI art aren't being run out of town and have to escape with their computer on a raft.
S C
>>1067048 I really do kinda like the part where we act like shit towards artists and accuse them of using AI machines, and then we blame the AI as the cause for our own shitty behavior That's the sign of a healthy mind
Anno
>>1067048 I don't really know if that's a fair comparison to make Sure we can look back with the understanding of history at all the good (and disaster) that the printing press wrought, but I think AI generated images are not remotely in the same field There are a lot of pretty legitimate complaints from the artist community about how AI takes from pre-existing content to produce its images I guess you could say there's a fair comparison between the deluge of written content which flooded Europe after the printing press and the flooding of art sites like pixiv, but that hardly seems like it will be to benefit of writers and the general public like the printing press was Maybe I'm an old stodger who can't see what all this newfangled printed media will be for the benefit of people, but I see this fad of AI generated images as far more a problem than a good
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
there's a lot of complaints from people who have worked hard to gain a skill seeing their skill commodified by machines and I think that's an understandable complaint, but like cat's outta the bag now machines are coming for every one I also think that pretty much all art is stolen and generated by imitation anyway >good artists copy, great artists steal so it looks like imagery will be increasingly commodified more than it already has been, and the very top bespoke old-style artists will likely survive in the same way like handcrafted furniture carpenters, or anyone who makes mass producible stuff like pottery and glass and even bespoke hand poured bricks or what have you meanwhile modern artists who embrace AI will produce weird synergistic works idk none of these ideas are new either, I'm just cribbing off sci fi
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
AI's comin for coders too and no one cares if your web app is hand crafted by the finest artisans or just generated schlock undernearth
Anno
Automation/AI in general is already a big threat to jobs in an already terrible economy Give people UBI first then you can let the technogeeks allow AI to take over patreon art commisions, trucking industry, medical diagnosis, manufactoring, coding etc
S C
Everyone's been automated out of a job for quite a lot of time It aint' stopping
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
>>1067054 yeah it would be nice if, with all this post-scarcity stuff being generated, it could be redistributed to people instead of just being owned by the top 1%
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
we need to invent some kind of society that doesn't revolve around rent seeking
S C
How are you supposed to have freedom if you're not paying rent and following orders?
Anno
>>1067052 The problem with the quip "Great artists steal", is that it's incomplete, and erroneous in its unfinished state Great artists don't just steal, or imitate; they understand the expressions and techniques they're stealing, and add those fundamentals to their toolbox Now I'll admit I'm biased towards humans and don't fully understand the science behind AI generated images, but I would presume the AI algorithm doesn't understand the work behind the images it is ripping from, it's not building the image in the way these skilled artists have built their work The AI is definitely stealing in the way the quip works, but I argue without the AI capable of understanding the technique behind illustration it's just a shallow program effectively tracing other people's works and claiming it as original
Anno
>>1067057 every society/community that attempts that gets subverted/banned/or outright bombed by neolib "internationa community" though
Anno
>>1067059 One way to think about it is that there are deaf people who can still compose music, or blind drawing/painting I suppose. Also a big part of the AI thing is it/algos being able to self improve, which is visible over continuing iterations.
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
>>1067059 it's not building the image like a skilled human artist, no, but it does it its own way how the neural nets work is beyond me really but I know that in some statistical sense it understands the spatial relationships involved, the hierarchies, and how materials are applied to surfaces it has its own weird methodology and i'm not at all convinced that it's just a copy paste job that violates IP law or something
anyway an neural net today doesn't have any emotions or experiences so like you aren't gonna get some masterpiece impressionist artwork because there's no intent or will behind it ... yet I don't think it's just tracing though tracing is a specific photocopying technique and AIs don't really work that way
Anno
Well evidently not from how they fumble with things like ears or fingers, which tracing would render a non-issue But I remain unconvinced that it is not the technological next step of tracing, an algorithm which pulls from pre-existing works to replicate without understanding the important underlying building blocks of an artistic image I just don't think AI can develop skill through technical understanding and can never advance beyond comparing what it produces to what it's been told looks good, not in its current iteration at least And that makes it feel cheap and cruel to human artists who now have to compete with a torrential flood of content like this to have their practiced skills be seen
Samu /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
yeah it is cheapening so was the invention of the loom people still sell hand-woven carpets though just feels like one of those cultural transitions where there's no going back
Anno
Going back is always an illusion, but a destroyed future is always possible! Bring on our own Butlerian Jihad!

there is little in this world that is strictly a coincidence the nature of our lives, the seeming perfection of the biosphere and our place in it is explained by evolution and convergent feedback loops
but why does the moon appear to be almost exactly the same size as the sun in the sky from the surface of the earth? such that we get perfect eclipses that's just a wacky coincidence
