Two new things today, Platinum End and Sakugan

Platinum End is a series written by the author (not artist) of Death Note, about a boy whose parents die in an accident and then his continued miserable life prompts him to try jumping off the roof of his school during his middle school graduation
But then an angel shows up to save him and that's literally all the synopsis reads where I normally get my info
It might be kind of dumb but Death Note was still kind of fun despite being dumb

Sakugan is an adaptation of a novel about a near-future world where humanity lives in cramped (maybe underground?) colonies surrounded by an undeveloped labrynthian world outside the colonies, and the father-daughter combo who want to go out and explore this hazardous world
Like Kirara said it looks fun

sakugan looks really good

who wants to watch what and what order should we do

i want to watch everything but i don't really care much about mahouka so i'd be fine with setting that aside
most important to me is finishing sonny boy

we've been having some really good seasons of anime this last year
i don't remember anime being this good in the before times

Sakugan was something I was hoping would be fun but I didn't expect it to be this intense
Platinum End actually floored me with how enjoyably silly it was

That was a really good show.
I think it's claimed a special place in my heart.

Nagara's character growth was really, really well-written
I think this is the kind of show that might be hard for some people to digest, because they're expecting a story, some plot that follows a standard narrative arc
But it's instead more of a pure, unadulterated Bildungsroman focusing on Nagara and Mizuho and how they grow as people
Everything else is just setting to give the world around them a sense of real-ness and any implications of narrative are mostly irrelevant
It's more a series of interactions and personal development than a story
Which is kind of a refreshing and different thing to get out of an anime

I got a somewhat sudden invitation to a friend gathering for Thanksgiving weekend tomorrow and was asked to make a dish for it
That took up until like the end of Platinum
And then I cooked up some dumplings durring Scarlet because I hadn't had dinner yet

caring for penguins is a good job

Kukuru at least is probably a good tour guide
She has plenty of customer-facing experience

I guess this new marketing girl is also pretty nice
