He's one of the funnier terminal cases I think we've seen in the series

Normally it's mostly just bloodlust or paranoia but Ooishi is going like, full teenage brat

satoko is so evil

This arc made me feel soooooooooooooooooo bad for Satoko when it first aired.

It's great, I love it

When Satoko had the trauma trigger thing the first time, I was like, "this is horrible" and felt like I wanted to protect her.
But she's evil! Satoko is a true witch!

Ooishi kinda retreats deeper into his "I'm a cool hardboiled cop" mentality the further he slips into the throes of the virus

Everyone's fighting their hardest to "save" Satoko and she just gets to enjoy a happy day off with Teppei

Does Satoko even experience happiness?

Of course!
A witch's only real pursuit is joy

But that's not what we would call joy!

Ooishi here is pretty big brained, himself.

It's actually pretty cool he gets this whole arc as kind of the secondary main character

Although I think at this point he cares less about protecting Teppei and Satoko's household
And the madness of the virus has transformed his goal into using them as bait to catch the perpetrators of the "curse"

I think he made it pretty clearly that that was his goal last episode. All he wants to do is catch the curse perpetrators.

Satoko is so DEVIOUS.

I wonder if she'd have changed her tune there
Like, I don't think it's worth Satoko's rage, but Rika can really be kind of self-absorbed in her escape of fate
When she ended that phone call with "Now I'll finally be free", I feel like that only reinforces Satoko's perception of her
If Rika had instead continued to be concerned with Satoko instead, I wonder if it would've had an effect on Satoko.

Since he survives it and has that kind of weird moment with Satoko at the end of Tatari-damashi where she's being super affectionate towards him
Which is another question I'm looking forward to getting an answer for!

Presumably though the week after we get into the answer arc for Neko-damashi, which was where things really went wild in the first season

The new Higurashi seasons have definitely been kind of a slow build up but once thing start rolling it's an absolute blast

i've seen a few people here and there online really mad about the new Higurashi but I think it's all been really good stuff

A lot of the chatter on /a/ is people mad that what was a murder mystery has turned into a weird love-violence battle between Rika and Satoko and that it's clearly setting up a connection between Higurashi and Umineko
The former can be accounted to taste, I guess, but for the latter, it was always the When They Cry series
Like it's not Umineko 1 and 2, Umineko is When They Cry 3 and 4
The series being interlinked isn't an absurd thought

Yeah, I think we're definitely just seeing what happened between the two stories.
I feel like Higurashi was never really a pure murder mystery either. This stuff is new content but it's not new thematically.

but I think Japanese sweets are typically not overly sweet
so that's probably why they think eclairs are so decadent
cause eclairs really are just like excessively sweet and rich and I Don't like them for that reason

It makes more sense for the main series since it's often a lot of magical espionage, which isn't often much difference from magical sabotage
I guess this spin-off follows the same arc but for more petty things like intramural sports competitions

It's really original and has a great seishun vibe to it that carries a kind of sentimental charm that not a whole lot of anime gets
It's shows like this which makes me always want to give original anime a spin when they show up

I love to see the little crabs at the beach.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of crabs leave the river and cover the streets where my grandma lives.
If you hit them with your car, they'll destroy your tires.
Isn't that amazing? Crabs are really strong!

Well, running them over crushes the crabs and they die.
But their pincers and stuff are so strong that they put big holes in your tires if you hit them at a bad angle, and when there are hundreds, it's hard to avoid.
It's like getting your tires slashed.

I imagine the sharp edges of cracked-open shells isn't exactly idea for tires either

They also make a horrid cracking sound when you hit them.

But it usually only lasts a few days and then for the next month or so there's only occasional crabs on the roads.
