Aside from Kanojo but I did kind of intentionally set that one aside since you two were really not into it and that Jahy-sama could take its place as a show Bang could watch

it might be because i dropped like 5 shows
but i think we haven't missed anything

There's also Drugstore Isekai but we weren't watching that one with you anymore and it is honestly kind of dull
I can put that one back on the list if Rika wants to keep watching it

yeah this show has convinced me that my only regret in life is that i didn't go to a japanese art school

The brown haired girl feels more like the protagonist to me than anyone else
she's the one always struggling

i think they've been going back and forth a lot
i predict some kind of love triangle thing later

She does seem to be crushing on the MC a bit now
But Buchou is still in the "we're just acquaintances" for the MC and Shinoaki is imouto mode right now

i think brown hair is the best match for MC probably
but i personally like Aki the best

They really rolled out the voice talent for this series
Kamiyan for Uramichi, Mamoru for the other guy, Sugita as the rabbit, Mizuki Nana as the onee-san

I hope I'm never at the whims of such an awful boss like this

I wonder if MWAM will ever get the chance to do another tour of North America
I'd like to see them again

It's kind of funny how Endeavor just goes all in on catching even petty criminals
Especially when his sidekicks are already on route to catch them
I guess it's befitting of being the pillar of justice that he's trying to emulate but it's kind of a waste of his ability

He's a workaholic

Todoroki has a cute onee-chan
I like the splotches of red in her otherwise white hair

Hellish is a pretty suitable adjective for the Todoroki family

his siblings are really messed up
way more than him

Todoroki's at least been given the opportunity to heal
Being with the rest of the kids at UA has helped him a lot
It seems like his siblings never had a similar opportunity to mend

Although his onee-chan seems okay, just, well, resigned to things

It does seem like Endeavor normally recruits fire-themed sidekicks
By that metric Bakugou is probably a good candidate for a sidekick
Deku's really the only one that doesn't fit

yeah deku helped todoroki a lot

It's a poetic way of phrasing it but it's kind of a dangerous way of thinking
It presumes evil is always there
And if you keep looking for something you think is there, eventually you're gonna start seeing it where it isn't

The different ways they wear the similar uniform is funny
Deku is super proper but kind of dweeby with the short tie
Todoroki looks good with the long tie but the way he rolls his sleeves up a bit gives him a bit more of a wild look without going too far
And Bakugou with no tie and the sleeves rolled up, and the top buttons of the shirt undone, looks particularly rebellious

His sister ios really doing her best

Some times best isn't always enough
Although it doesn't feel entirely unachievable

Bakugou with the total lack of social tact and decency probably helps a bit right now
Not to help them with the problem or anything
But with him and his sister festering over the issue right now they'd just be spinning wheels

At first I thought it was that blonde knight who died last episode

Plus on a closer look they're different people

Again, they're doing a weird thing trying to portray the orcs as noble and righteous here
But the orcs were the ones who showed up and instituted themselves as the feudal lords of the humans on the island, with the added threat of eating the humans if they didn't give tribute

As I said last episode, that doesn't make the heroes, well, heroes, just because they're fighting off the orcs
But the orcs are definitely not righteous, and seem to act like they are just because they don't have to be scared of the humans

Imagine escaping a collapsing cavern only to get clocked in the head by a piece of volcanic eruption
And looks like blondie got killed by one too

Which is why the people on it have all these Japanese aspects to them

This island has a lot of problems

To be fair the orcs are a more recent addition
And with all the cavernous shelters it looks like normally the islanders would be well-prepared for a volcanic eruption
Volcanic islands may be hazardous but they're very fertile land to grow crops on
If you can work around the eruptions there are benefits to living near volcanoes

This is a common thing even in real life where tsunami risk is regular
There's many parts of Japan along the coastline where there's stone markers warning future generations about building beneath them
I do think for the most part they've actually heeded the markers pretty well though

Jiffon kinda sounds like a mix of Japan and Nippon


seems like things keep getting worse for them

My theory about the island being Mt. Fuji in the far-flung future was mostly a joke
But if they want to seed it as being an actual twist they're doing a pretty good job of it

I thought when they were talking about the volcano god they were being metaphorical
But it might be there's actually creature living inside it which the islanders have deified

Rimuru's mental AI helper sure has gotten powerful with the ascension to Maou

I dunno if we'll see action with that, but at the least they won't be sitting around Tempest talking

But since Rimuru is a Maou now too, doesn't he kinda have a ticket to Walpurgis anyway

Where does Veldora fit into the power scheme of things anyway

There's still the battle to be won on that front though

I wonder if we'll see some scenes of the battle
A lot of Rimuru's nakama are pretty fun to see in action

Judging from the episode title for next week though we'll be getting to the Walpurgis council of Maou

the only thing that bothers me
and this is a small complaint
but they're going into like a war but you know nobody important is going to die
in fact nobody may die at all from rimuru's team

which is nice in the respect that it preserves the laid back tone of the series but it also stretches the suspension of disbelief to like the maximum

It's definitely very much the usual shounen trope that big fights are more just chances to show off flashy moves rather than be dramatic moments

It's rare for fights to actually have dramatic tension, although there are popular exceptions to that in recent years which might help break the trope
I know both Kimetsu no Yaiba and Jujutsu Kaisen both kill off main cast members or at least secondary ones
And Chainsawman which we'll hopefully be seeing soon goes wild through its cast

Kimetsu and Jujutsu are both much darker
and the protagonists and charcters in those suffer a LOT more

in slime, the characters suffer for maybe 1-2 episodes before it gets fixed then you get a lot of episodes of brightness
it's not bad
but the show is very daring in just like how positive and suffering freei it can be considering the setting

Yeah, I don't expect the trope breaking to affect Slime
But more that I think Slime is more in line with the vibes of shounen and generally popular action/adventure stories in anime and manga from the past decade or two
And we're now seeing some stuff which is getting really popular which breaks from that mould without going into like, edginess or hardcore violence
Like Kimetsu and Jujutsu are still shounen series at heart even if they buck trends
Chainsawman is, well, a different beast entirely, but still kinda tries to be a shounen story. Kinda.
But they're all wildly popular Shounen Jump series, so it's to be expected that they'll probably shape the future of shounen in coming years
