They already lost one of their three, and the orcs are relatively small in number

It feels to me they felt their were unprepared to deal with the MC's crossbow artilery and wanted to back off

These orcs have been demonstrating fairly advanced thinking, which is pretty unusual for orc and orc-like species

But well this is definitely not advanced thinking

The islanders don't seem like bad guys

The MC's argument is they're the ones that went and broke the pact they had with the orcs
That as long as the islanders feed the orcs tribute, the orcs won't kill and eat the islanders
Which for starters, is a rotten deal
But because the islanders went and recruited mercenaries in secret to kill the orcs, the islanders are being dishonourable and scheming, where as the orcs have upheld their end of the bargain

My issue is any bargain where one side is clearly the power superior and is only going along with it because it's the easy route or on a whim, is hardly a bargain
The orcs are basically feudal lords to the islanders and are providing none of the "benefits" of having a feudal lord all while demanding the tribute of one
Plus hanging the threat of massacre if the humans disobey

The series did have a handful of unusual eyes but I don't think any character in it had consistent star eyes

I always like the big wrap-up moments in detective stories

i can't seem to figure out what anime girl had permanent starry eyes like this

i thought it was Nui from KLK for a second but it wasn't

Yeah, I think the mind control Level 5 is who I'm imprinting on that lady
But she does have a face that's more reminscent of a character out of a Gainax or Trigger show

I think you could probably make one look like a passable imitation for an eye if you set the gem in the glass or whatever sphere that makes up the eye
You might want to add something else in to resemble the pupil, but I think a skilled craftsperson could work it

That's some good ol' fashioned detective's inference
It makes sense when you explain it out like that but really it's just setting up the evidence to match the conclusion
A lot of classic detective fiction does stuff like that

and it's only hard to get a gun in japan if you don't know the right people

even if guns were made illegal here, i could definitely get one in less than two weeks

in fact guns that are currently illegal this moment could probably be acquired in less than a month, only proving more difficult because their existence is a bit less common and they can be expensive
but i don't doubt that one could be acquired and/or manufactured with relative ease
logistically you could assume it's harder in japan but at the same time the yakuza exists

It's probably drastically harder to get a gun in Japan than even in a strange future where Texas was to ban all guns
They have decades and decades of scrubbing gun normalcy from their country
But you're right, the Yakuza generally have a pretty good grip on the arms trade in Japan, and are generally not above being given a lot of money to sell one to you

money is the crucial difference really
for me the issue would mostly be one of having to take the trouble and risk
for me in japan, it would only be money in addition to those things

I think there are just not a lot of guns there
but I guess an idol can have connections

This is one of those series where I think the clothes are really well thought out.

There's a variety of fashion and outfits too
They're already wearing things a bit different from what we saw in the earlier episodes that took place closer to the start of the Japanese school term
Well aside from this muscle-brained guy

buchou is being a little too much

She really seems to mellow out over the years
Or maybe she just suffered too many cuts and just ended up resigned to her fate
Maybe helping her keep her indomitable spirit is one of the things the MC can help her do

It's harsh but I don't think she's saying anything inaccurate
Karaoke isn't serious practice, especially in the environment Nanako was using it
Like sure you can stay in a boot h for hours on end and practice your singing
But it is way more efficient to take singing lessons and get professional education

it's not like she's wrong but it's not only about being right or wrong
you can be right in the right way and this was being right in the wrong way

That was a really serious fight ovre karaoke

She was too blunt

yeah if she actually cared about nanako improving, she could've gone about it an entirely different way

I don't think that's necessarily accurate
It's not about not caring, she just doesn't know how to not bullhead her way through things
I don't see a lack of caring about Nanako in that, I see a lack of sensitivity and a high degree of self-righteousness
