It's basically, is it Japanese, does it have some kind of character or minion progression/levelling mechanic, is there a focus on story and/or worldbuilding, and is it long

Yes Rika I have mentioned it is a game adaptation at least three or four times

i don't know that i'd call it an adaptation exactly?
scarlet nexus has the kind of Mixed-Media Project thing going on so it's not as simple as calling any of it the source material or adaptation
it's all just part of the project

it was released alongside the game
so yeah bang's right it's not exactly an adaptation as much as it is a companion piece to the game

The first episode did say his potential was pretty low

Everything else has been at least good

it's such an easy way to add color to a character design
i mean i don't know how the japanese feel about nail polish, maybe that plays a role
but from a character design standpoint it seems like an underutilized piece of the puzzle

it might be a pain to have to add such a small detail so often when animating it

Out of all the main characters in Higurashi, she's actually never been the one that goes terminal, and when it seems like it was her, it was always Shion in disguise

And then there was the Satoko arc which will be interesting since it seems at this point like she had to be faking being traumatized by Teppei's return

For how it started off with Nagatoro pretty heavily bullying him it's turned out fairly wholesome
