Santa and the other guy have more or less forgiven Joe for abandoning them I guess
At the least they're willing to help him out

This is the kind of character you think is a boy but you find out in the last episode that she's actually a girl with a boyish haircut.

Actually I think everyone knows she's a girl
She was kind of ambiguous as a young kid by the looks of it
But as far as treating her one gender or another, I think people treat her, well, neutrally, but contextually as a girl

Oh yeah Liu was really beat in during that match

His situation is kind of similar to what Mac went through before he became a boxer
Though Mac had that cybernetic skeleton they put in him to help him overcome paralysis
I wonder if Liu can manage au natural

Joe is adamant that he's stepped out from the ring, but like Santa said, he doesn't act that way when he's doing anything like boxing
He'd make a good coach for Sachio if Sachio could forgive him, and that would make for a nice arc
But it does feel like it would spoil the rivalries with other boxers they've been building with Joe.

This glasses guy sure is dangerous
He's got a silver tongue but he's happily fudging the data about his product when it might have serious instability concerns

Oh Mac is picking a fight directly with Joe
That's not good for Joe, considering the damage he did to Liu

Joe kinda got his power back against Liu though.
Liu was dumb and didn't finish him before Mac time

but I'm sure Joe will have to face Mac time somehow if he faces him
but I think Joe would win if he got his power back

And to be fair, it's the double threat of gear-assisted boxing and Mac Time's berserker nature which makes the damage Mac can do so scary
I'm sure he'll be dangerous regardless, but if Joe can agree to make him go gearless, then at the least Joe won't end up a half-invalid like Liu did

it's more about the cinematics and execution from them, for me

I dunno, I think Trigger can be pretty shaky with the landings
It's usually pretty fun, but a lot of their endings are kind of Deux ex Machina-y or feature a similar narrative stretch
Gridman was definitely a good ending though

At the least that's how I can rationalize this

Something I was surprised to see the other day was that the manga of this is actually really, really popular
Like its sales numbers are up there with Shingeki no Kyojin, One Piece, manga series like that which sell like hotcakes in Japan

Changing causality isn't as easy as moving a chair across a room or anything
If Draken dies, Mikey loses his moral anchor because the kid's a fucking sociopath, and his gang spirals down into proper villainy
The end result of which is a nasty fight which Hina, the MC's girlfriend, dies as collateral damage in
He's trying to keep Draken alive because that's one key component of preventing that future

But the other thing is, there's obviously someone playing Mikey's gang and some of the other gangs in the area
That plot thread's been mostly in -on the backburner so far, since this is a serialized series and you can't play all your cards right off the bat
I'm pretty sure even if he saves Draken at this point in time that conspiring person is gonna keep coming up with ways to kill him or undermine his relationship with Mikey.
But it's hard to know how much we'll get into that in this adaptation

Especially with him sacrificing his daughter to ensure their creation, he definitely has a more than emotional attachment to them

i think he was frustrated just now because he realized he was kinda fucked
even though he somehow managed to murder that one guy and is rampaging his units across the city and got away with everything
the earthquake means that japan doesn't need soldiers, it needs recovery
but he's so invested and kinda crazy at this point because of it
and now that he's been offered what would normally be a very fair compromise, to have his soldiers help with rebuilding (though i doubt the comittee would follow through afterwards)

because they aren't really capable of that
