The bear's not actually thorny it's just carrying dozens of arrows and spears and other weapons

Yeah the bear is probably the same as Fushi and is only "dead" because they're stuck him full of arrows.
It's probably why he's so angry all the time too.

That's an interesting thought
The way the lady was talking, she does seem to think the bear will be okay if it's "tended" to

The fact that Fushi dug straight to him while saying "it hurts" suggests there's some kind of link or understanding there.

If that's the case I'd assume the bear to be a bit of a predecessor to Fushi
Since it seems to be quite a few steps ahead of him in complexity

The older girl is really metal though
For someone who can't even shoot straight she's both persistent and tough

what if their powers are split

There is a bit of a reverse harem going on here
Even from the get-go she's been getting a lot of pretty boys surrounding her

I wonder if this Grand Magus expected to be able to appraise her
He seemed kind of surprised by it
But for someone as important to the supposed role of Saint
Wouldn't it be kind of underwhelming if he could appraise her, if it meant her magic power was weaker than his

So the faux Saint has immense potential but is still developing, while Sei has huge power right out the gate
I wonder if that means the other girl could eventually overtake at least the Grand Magus

She's trying haaaard to weasel out of this

From the talk the king had with his advisor earlier though
It kinda seems like he's concerned declaring Sei the Saint would prompt a risk of his son trying to force royal succession
Which really doesn't put the prince in a good light
He already seemed like a brat but trying to take the throne because you don't like your dad's preference of Saint is hella petty

I really wonder if stuff like that will go down in a nice shoujo like this

I suspect the risk of it happening is the dramatic tension, rather than the events actually coming to pass

I definitely prefer her casual wear, but as far as needing something to command her saintly status, it serves well.

And for whatever dumbass reason he's got, he's DEAD convinced the girl he likes is the Saint.
Combined with the vanity of not being able to admit he's wrong, I think the King suspects the prince is on course to try and take the throne in a display of might-makes-right

Well I think that would've been a bit on the "demanding too much of the king" side of being rude to the king in his own court

and i'm still pretty sure the king would be in a pretty rough position
it sounds like the fate of their nation relies on her and they know that

of course she doesn't want half the kingdom
she doesn't even want to be a saint
she wants to make potions and get dinner with ice knight and harvest herbs
