i suspect they're going to save the war from happening by making this guy who really hates AIs into someone who doesn't hate them any more
and he's going to stop toak from directly or indirectly causing the war

I still think the English title is kind of a mistranslation
"So what" makes it feel more like she's being flippant about being a spider
When, so far, it's really been far from the case
I think translating "nani ga" as more like "what gives" would be a little more accurate

But really it's just not a title that translates well into English.

i don't know how "what gives" is less flippant to you
but both of them kinda sucks

Well as expected, the reason they all died was tied to this world they all reincarnated into
But it's still kind of funny that it because some magic got out of control and nuked them all

We're getting some confirmation about everything that's been hinted at and fairly clearly laid out
That she's this strong while all the humanoid reincarnates are still all infants

so really it's like she's his wife

It's nice that Kumoko isn't entirely trapped back in the labyrinth with Mother chasing her though
She's still free to head out into the open world.

I guess we're finally getting to it
Though considering Ariel is still alive and well a good decade plus down the line
Kumoko probably doesn't win this.

So I guess she's the grandmother of all spiders
Which explains why there was a lot of aesthetic overlap between her and Kumoko earlier on
And why it was a pretty good red herring to make it seem like they could be the same.

Hopefully there's some catharsis here after the events last episode

i don't know that i feel like Lena is doing the right thing exactly
just because she doesn't have the wool over her eyes like the rest of the alba
is there really anything she can do about it?
i don't know what the right thing for her to do is
but
i'm not convinced she's not just self-righteous

I think she's self-righteous, but in a naive way, rather than the contently disillusioned way the rest of the Alba are
Naivity is dangerous in wartime
But I think if you've got it, you should hold on to it.

More than anything, she's still not getting her hands dirty, both physically and metaphorically
She's politely "respecting" the Eighty-Six, but in doing so she's deliberately treating them as different.
It's a more humane different than the rest of the Alba, but it's still different.

I dunno which I have more disdain for though
The Alba who are contently disillusioned and satisfied with the inhumane reduction of the Eighty-Six
Or ones like her friend, who are cynical and jaded to the cruelty of the world and just look at everything with a "well that's the way it is" at the ready.

This really is an awful nation they've built for themselves

I guess as their squad leader it might be his jurisdiction
But giving away their names himself feels like he's betraying his friends a bit
At the least I think they should be the ones deciding whether they want her knowing who they are

Early ED this time

this show is top-notch
there's a lot of subtlety and nuance to the dialogue they have

Well she's at least going through the motions of asking them all
Respectable

I wonder if this is building up to Lena leaving behind the safety of her city to join them on the outside
I don't think she can change her whole society by herself
And so far we haven't seen anyone willing to help her
If she's going to make a distinct impact I think she would have to do it with them.
But I also don't feel like that's quite what it is

that ending was beyond unsettling

The sound design in this show has been amazing so far
They do some great stuff with the audio

yeah the sound design is super good, i was gonna say something about it when she was at the crosswalk but i was too absorbed in the show

It conveyed really well the sensory and memory overload she was going through

Last episode they also did some good stuff with using the audio to create the illusion of all the soldiers talking around her while she was sitting in her bedroom.
You could hear them surrounding her, rather than just audio piping into her ear.

i wonder if she will end up fighting with them
i kinda doubt it
but it would be a wild direction to go in

the way she speaks reminds me of certain characters but it's hard to pin it down

Well "ware wa" is a somewhat pretentious-noble way to refer to yourself
It's probably akin to the Royal We
So if you think of characters who might've been trying to talk like that, there's a good chance they've been using it

And "nano ja" is childish way to end your senses
I've also heard fae-type characters in anime use it too
It's also kind of putting on airs
