I had to spend a bit of my weekend going out to a store to pick up an R7 5800X since they're in such short supply they only do in-store pick up
It's a CPU I've had my eye on for a long time now
And with it I have pretty much all the computer parts I wanted to super-upgrade my PC

the gap between my expectations for this show and how it has turned out is pretty wide
i'm looking forward to it being 2cour

this show is actually more tempting to read ahead than mushoku

Mushoku is kind of more a slow burn kind of show
It's great to digest over a long period of time
But this show is just constantly cliffhangers and intense exciting action

part of what stops me from reading mushoku (or re zero) is that i know there's so much as well
it's daunting to start something like that

I think this show's actually a bit long too, in the original material
It's an older web novel, one of the earlier isekai web novels I think

That said I still like the show a lot and wish I had started it sooner

Parts of it are definitely particular to the isekai genre and sorta otaku culture a bit
But I see a lot of some classic fantasy adventure in the show
In particular it reminds me a lot of The Belgariad, which I know for a fact is weirdly popular in Japan despite being written by an American author.

i think i've mentioned this before but music-wise i love this OP
the animation is pretty whatever nothing special
but the instrumentation is actually really nicely arranged
whoever wrote it was meticulous

Mimimi's pushing herself a bit too hard

normally silver-hair doesn't have things to say about others

I get what she's saying though
Trying to get into other people's heads and understand their actions is a good activity to practice as an author

hinami's actions don't really make all the much sense to me either though
she seems to act on whims like a daedric prince would

She's probably got some driving motivation for why she wants to be the perfect, model person.
But I think that's different from why she's taken up Tomozaki as a pet project

it should be obvious why she's a little fixated

Most people who have that kind of work ethic normally just excel in a few things and are happy with that
But she goes HARD on all aspects she can put work into.

These all feel like lines Aoi rehearsed or thought out before hand though
Not that it's a bad thing, but they definitely have the vibe of "what can I say here to make things go well" to me.

i still think that first episode was painful to watch but this show has turned out pretty good yeah

Some times you gotta spend a few chapters hashing out a character's personality before you hit what you're happy with.
Aoi felt really standoffish in the first episode and it did feel a bit different from what her personality turned out being.

it's just that coming from the lens of how shows in this genre typically are
the premise of
"a loser hikki who is #1 smash player in the world meets the #2 player who is a girl in his high school class who is perfect"
is like looking into the back of a semi-truck as it's leaving the red flag factory
and then the first episode was so difficult to stomach

Yeah her seiyuu is pretty versatile

Itsuki sure got excited after they agreed they were friends

As per usual these kinds of tricks don't work as well in the anime
At least for the viewer

Though I guess they've used in the past just swapping the seiyuu to have the girl "imitating" the voice of another.

i love music, it's probably the facet of living that is most important to me

something about piano/keyboard just really clicks with me

Haven't really played at all in years though
Been considering once I have my own place, seeing if I can get my parents to let me take in the keyboard we had at our old house.
If not, I might pick up one in the future, but I dunno if that's in the budget for something I don't have a lot of time budget for either.

but it's just a midi input device
i mean you can use it for normal keyboard things with software but it has to be plugged in to a computer
and you can get em for way cheaper too
i think a good standalone can be like 180 or so

USD tho

Yeah, and to spend that kind of money on something I can't guarantee I'd have the time to practice, is a bit of a tall order.
