Good evening! I've been waiting all week for this night
Anno
Dr. Stone Go-toubun no Hanayome Hataraku Saibou Hataraku Saibou Black Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou Idoly Pride Episode 6-7 Kai Byoui Ramune Episode 2-6 Log Horizon Episode 5-7 Show By Rock Tenchi Souzou Design-bu Episode 6-8 World Trigger Episode 5-6 Yakusoku no Neverland Yuru Camp
Honestly that guard must've been a heavy sleeper because electrolyzing a lot of sweat like that would've been RANK
Anno
I wonder if the series might've been on rocky ground during this part Any talk of "final battles" always kind of feel like series climaxes
Anno
Oh yeah come to think of it, the guy with the super-hearing is the one trying to betray Tsukasa That'll probably help with them trying to impersonate the singer
Anno
>Hey y'all
Anno
I guess this is where we see if ear boy is willing to be a friend or just a mutual enemy of Tsukasu
If I rememb WAIT HE'S JUST BEEN WEARING THAT PIECE OF STONE BECAUSE HE THINKS IT'S COOL What an absolute NERD
Anno
Anyway if I remember correctly, when Senku gave Yuzuriha that secret mission, it was suitable to her particular talents Which in this case are handicrafts I guess even Senku doesn't have confident in his delicate handiwork to reassemble the statues
Now THIS is what I've been looking for Forward to even I was convinced from when the OP dropped back in episode two that Featherine, or at least an "adult Hanyuu" that looks identical to her, was going to show up at some point. Being correct was AH AGH I know EXACTLY what's going on here
Anno
I'm assuming Featherine here is talking to who she thinks Satoko's "Player" is Like how in Umineko there were Piece characters and meta-world characters. This Sea of Fragments is probably a similar realm to the meta-world of Umineko
Oh huh She gave Satoko a free loop start I was pretty sure we'd at least get one fun scene of teen Satoko going absolute berserk on Rika
But on the other hand, this does neatly explain
!!! They changed up the OP! Featherine's no longer in the shadows of the toolshed Ah man this is so cool
Anno
Anyway the fact that the first loop of Gou was manually restarted by Featherine rather than the result of Rika dying would explain why she was confused as to being back at the start of a loop in the first arc
Huh, yeah I guess the first arc of Gou wasn't the first of these new loops then
Anno
I guess by the time Satoko starts believing in time loops, she's no longer at the point where she reaches this conversation with Rika Because I think she's sharp enough to make a connection between Rika's talk of waiting a long time and finding worlds And the nature of timeloops
I wonder if Satoko is just trying to get Rika to fail
Anno
That's more or less what she said, I think Her words were "I just have to make sure Rika doesn't have time to study" I guess at this point in time she hasn't committed to the most surefire way of making sure Rika never leaves Hinamizawa
Anno
Satoko could probably hack the problems she had the last time now though, since she's looped She's still got the memories from St. Lucia and the years of studying.
>>922736 That would be boring for Featherine though, wouldn't it?
Anno
Oh yeah absolutely And as the Witch of Theatre-going, if there's one thing she hates more than anything, it's boredom.
Anno
Ah well I guess we know what's going to happen with this promise then Something that's neat about these past couple arcs is that it gives Rika some flaws she kinda lacked, without making her go full Bern
Rika is a bit naive I think and probably a bit self-centered
Anno
Yeah, exactly We didn't really get that in the original Higurashi And at least as far as self-centered goes, Bernkastel in Umineko is extremely self-centered
I guess Rika was naive in Higurashi though But it was the naivity that can also be interpreted as hopeful or determined.
Anno
Though as I said last episode, Satoko's not without fault here either. She definitely didn't do much for reaching out for help either.
Hm, what I'm expecting is that we won't see the "actual" Bernkastel from Umineko Because while this has more or less confirmed my suspicions that Ryuukishi is trying to retrofit Higurashi a bit to more smoothly sequence it into Higurashi, it's still very much a Higurashi show, not When They Cry 2.5 or anything like that.
But I do think there's a good chance we might see a "freshly-hatched" Bernkastel as maybe a last-minute tease in the the final episode. >>922747 Er, to more smoothly sequence it into Umineko
And so I'm stuck waiting another whole seven days for more of this ride It's been really difficult to not keep thinking about Higurashi for like the past month or more Umineko and Higurashi are pretty important series to me so it's been very easy to get incredibly engaged here and it's hard to disentangle myself from it. I don't know what I'll do when it's over
Anno
Wow that girl demon is olllld She also seems to kinda be the solution to the problem they've got But it also looks like it's not a solution demonkind are interested in
Anno
How ironic They escaped the House, travelled all over the demon world Only to find their route to the human world was where they'd been all this time.
Anno
I don't think he's being entirely honest with himself But he's also committed to demon eradication
It's kinda funny to me that the sorta MC pair ended up being Emma and Ray In the first season it was definitely more Norman and Emma that cooperated But that was partially because Ray was still a mole for their House Mother
Yeah, Norman is kinda distant now I wonder if they'll bring him back into the fold
Anno
I can't imagine he'll be on the outside for the whole series But I am pretty sure he'll be the sub-antagonist of the series Or maybe the proper antagonist, but not the one they're actually "fighting" against.
Anno
Also I'm pretty sure he's using Emma and Ray as bait here to lure Mujika out to kill her.
Anno
The thing that kinda gets to me is, Emma isn't being naive, or even incorrect, in sympathizing with the demons There's definitely naivity in her desire to not kill any demons, but not in not wanting to exterminate them. As she's argued, they're struggling in their own way, to survive, and it's not the demon's fault that their survival is predicated on eating humans. I think her argument is actually really strong and it annoys me that she's kind of painted as this bleeding heart idealist.
Anno
But if they're pulling all the oldest kids of the band away to chase after the demons, who's going to look after all the younger kids
>>922757 I don't think she's wrong in terms of ideals, but I think Norman is more correct in terms of idealogy. They're in a kill or be killed situation.
Anno
They have been given a sort of third option here though, in releasing the demons from the cycle of preying on humans to maintain intelligence It's the much, much harder option than the other for survival, but it's not impossible. I think from a moral standpoint it's the one that should be pursued!
Yeah but I wouldn't want to regress into a beastial nature either! And thanks to the supposed effect of the demon girl's blood, there's now an option available which satisfies both wants here
Anno
Oh yeah this might be an episode
Anno
Stomach acid is dangerous stuff to be around The human body has evolved to be pretty good at dissolving almost anything organic in its stomach
Getting more than your body volume in gastric acid dumped on you will probably do that to you
Anno
I guess in addition to the lifestyle problems creating ulcers and stomach issues, there's also some kind of virus or bacteria here too that's making matters worse But I don't know my body health enough to know what would be causing that
It's kind of wild that a bacteria would evolve to survive in gastric acid Like surely there's enough dangerous factors there to impede successful passing on of genes to evolve. But I guess life finds a way
oh no his only friend I thought that red blood cell would survive maybe he still will
Anno
He's going to have to find another way out of the stomach at this rate if he can though
Anno
The futuristic, mechanical look of the medical assistance things the person this body belongs to takes, also in normal Hataraku, is always a neat aesthetic touch
I guess his friend didn't come back he's become a worthless blood cell
Anno
Why work when you're just going to die young and exhausted anyway
Anno
I wonder if this series is gonna end a bit early then Because we did get those two episodes earlier in the season in advance over a weekend If it's just a normal twelve-episode season then we've only got two episodes left But if those two weekend episodes were some kind of special, then we've still got four
That PV at the end of this episode was pretty climactic, is all.
Nadeshiko you're such a dork Don't walk around on roads with your eyes covered!
Anno
After that bit in last week's episode where Nadeshiko's onee-chan and Rin hung out for a while I saw some fan-art on Twitter shipping the two of them together It's kind of an odd pairing since they're both a bit kuudere, but it was nice.
These mountain pass tunnels are definitely really creepy They combine that already kind of transcendental nature of liminal spaces with longer than comfortable stretches through dark, narrow areas. It's no surprise all sorts of folk tales and urban myths arise out of them.
Anno
>>922788 Honestly with the right choice of tights I'd imagine it's warmer than some of the pants I wear during winter
Anno
>Braised bear paw Yeah, no, I don't think I have any interest in eating that
Anno
I can't believe Nadeshiko is DEAD
Anno
Nadeshiko really sure is lucky though, having both a good friend and onee-chan who are worried for her well-being I wonder if they're going to end up doing a three-person campout. Though Nadeshiko's onee-chan always seems to sleep in her car.
It's probably only like -5C or so Bundled up like she is, she's probably comfortable, if not warm.
Anno
>All we've done is eat snacks and watch anime Sounds like the dream I think that's what Kirara and Jan did when they did a bit of camping a few years back.
Anno
Hah hah hah Kinda seems like Nadeshiko just grabbed a bunch of fruits and vegetables and was experimenting with what would end up tasting good roasted in foil.
Anno
Though yeah, some of them are a surefire already guaranteed to taste good choice Sweet potatoes in particular are great even when simply prepared like that.
Anno
... Rin are you just going to ride out to the same campsire as her only to turn around and go back to your own
Anno
I guess even that close to the city, once you're in the mountains, you lose cell reception pretty easily
It's only really ever hilly at best 'round here Plus my cell network is a bit of a discount one that prioritizes urban areas and cuts off pretty fast once you head out into rural parts Even if we had mountains nearby my network wouldn't reach into them in the first place.
I'd like to live closer to mountains though When I visited California way back it was super neat to look eastward and just see the absolute wall of rock that was the Rockies And Samu's been living in B.C. for a while and every now and then photos he shares have shots of the Rockies too. It's a cool look, I'm really envious.
