I wonder if it'll really be faster than them all travelling on foot
I guess they don't need to exert manpower to lug their hardware around with it though

We kinda saw some of that the last time Tsukasa and Senku were face to face
For all his reputation as a super-strong high schooler, Tsukasa also seems to be fairly intelligent, or at least clever

Looks like Chrome's gonna try and spring himself first
I wonder how he'll fare
From what we've seen he's pretty smart and taken fast to using tech and knowledge in pinch situations
But he's still a far cry from being a Senku-level fast thinker

The other problem is they still also gotta make Tsukasa capitulate with minimal if no violence whatsoever
He's far too haughty to just up and surrender if they rescue Chrome fine.

I guess that is true
I don't know how they could coexist with Tsukasa after a conflict

I wonder if we'll get new visuals for the new ED this episode
They teased it with a black credits roll last episode
Judging from the timing it's definitely gonna play off the reveal of Satoko as the other looper

I wonder with the hundreds of years of living that Rika's been doing if she even needs to study

She probably also hated studying since she knew all the material

So Satoko's not outright refusing to leave Hinamizawa with Rika
That makes me wonder if she doesn't make the cut for the exam

But also like Satoko said, they do have three years of middle school to get through
I wonder if they'll skip through all those three years or if things will go bad before they can even get to the high school exam.

Also St. Lucia is the private high school that Takano went to
(And at the least shares a name with the school Ushiromiya Ange goes to in Umineko, but that 's probably just Ryuukishi reusing names/settings for fun)

Shiritori really doesn't work that well with English
In part because it doesn't have a good lose condition like Japanese Shiritori does, words that end with "n"

I guess the way she ended things wasn't particularly kind to Satoko.

Seeing them finally get to grow up is definitely a strange feeling.

I like what Yukarin is doing with Rika's voice for this timeskip though
It's not like full-on Bernkastel-mode, but she's added a bit of maturity to the usual Rika tone.

Really it looks though like she's ill-suited to the stuffiness of a serious private high school

Though also if she's going to be a bit, well, politely standoffish like that, she's also not going to do a good job of integrating her into the school culture

Rika on the other hand has the maturity of literal centuries so she's got an upper hand here.

I'm still pretty convinced Satoko is going terminal from the Hinamizawa Virus though

Also I can't really hear it myself because my ear's not that good, and because it's been a while since I listened to the original
But this new ED is apparently a key-shifted, grim take on the classic Higurashi song "You"

They're really taking a long time to show us what satoko's problem is

I guess I hadn't considered that, maybe she didn't realize that Rika was looping

Maybe something tips her off to the looping nature of the fragments and she kills Rika and then herself so that they can return to Hinamizawa and be together properly again
When she had the long disembowling scene a couple episodes back she was fixated on the promise Rika made to experience everything together and I think from this episode it's pretty clear why she thinks that promise has been broken, or at least is on its way to breaking

It feels pretty likely to me at least that she wants to trap Rika in Hinamizawa forever, going full-yandere for her friend to ensure it happens through whatever means possible
The other thing of note is I don't think she knows Rika has been looping -- I don't even think she knows Rika was looping when she drew the gun on her
So she thinks constantly ensuring Hinamizawa keeps getting its BAD END over and over again is the only way to make sure her and Rika stay together for eternity

Satoko was in the final stages of Hinamizawa Syndrome when she was disembowling Rika, or at least doing a damn good act of it
Most people wouldn't willingly scratch at their own necks until they expose the flesh beneath the skin, after all.

Oh yeah this was the serious sleep deprivation episode

The fun part about Satoko being revealed as the other looper and likely villain here is now I constantly get to guess how the rest of the series is going to go as they progress
And whenever it ends up my guess was off I can just re-evaluate and do it over again
I've got a rough guess as to what might happen here, or well two, depending on some factors
But a lot of what I was guessing for this episode was way off, so maybe it won't turn out that way.

Having something to drink after being awake for forty-eight hours feels like a really bad life choice.

It's not when it forms that it's a problem
But once it's formed and it starts moving, since they can form dangerously large in the legs
If that clot suddenly shoots all the way up to the heart it can cause some SERIOUS danger to your body

For people who are genetically disposed to getting them, it's a common very valid fear to long airplane rides
And to be fair, their only real recourse is to either not fly, or get up regularly and walk around the plane.

You have to submit it to a lot of abuse before it breaks
Though I think the body's owner has already put in most of that abuse long before this point

"What is happening to this body" seems to be a question they ask pretty much every episode though

The living girls are cute but I want to see more of the ghost idol

Putting up a tarp like that is a big comfort plus when camping
When I went camping with my family, the campsites 'round here are mostly all in fairly forested locales, so rather than pitch small tarps like that you could sling them up between trees and have a pretty big canopy above your living space while camping

Honestly I'd rather take Aki's two-chair "hammock" than a real hammock
Hammocks are way too much of a pain

Oh for a moment I thought that was the girl's dog

The cold is pretty bad for batteries!
Towards the end of my last phone's use if my battery dropped below like 20% battery and it was below freezing outside the battery was as good as dead

My phone likes the cold more since it gets so how.

So it probably feels a decent bit colder than that with the windchill.

The three of them are slightly panicking here
Even if they can't get firewood or handwarmers, if they can cook some hearty food and do the blankets and sleeping close together thing, they'll be fine for a night
Might not be the most comfortable night of camping, but they'd be fine.

That's definitely actually fairly cold.
I think they'd still survive a night of it fine, but it would definitely not be a comfy camping night
And that's why you should always prepare properly when camping!
