My Internet started working properly again this morning so I can watch whatever.
But I might need time to get shows if I haven't downloaded them yet.

There's two new things that aired for today, though one of them is Slime Isekai S2
The other is Wonder Egg Priority, which seems to be a slightly surreal slice of life drama. It's also anime-original.

Idoly is an aidoru show, unsurprisingly
Other than that, Tenchi Souzou, maybe, but I don't know where on the comfy <-> boring spectrum it lays.

Kai Byoui probably won't be action-y, but it might be intense in a more dramatic way.

And Wonder Egg is slice of life-y so it won't be too heavy on the drama, at least at first, I bet.

I peeked in on manga chapters of this from time to time, though I don't really know the broad plot of things.
But from the chatter I saw it seems to get a bit shark-jumpy as it heads into the later parts of the manga.

Tiny boy on dog's shoulder
I guess it might be a chihuahua since they were all dog or at least canine species.

It kind of got side-lined by the romance and then lion mafia plots in the first season, but the show did originally start off as a bit of a murder mystery with one of the MC's friends getting killed and eaten on campus.

Yeah, a lot happened last season.

He's sulking a lot this episode.

Well it's been a while for us since the last season, but in the manga, this probably directly follows the arc the previous season ended on
So it kinda acted a bit of a tempo relief for all the action

Wow that's kind of mean
I was looking forward to what kind of animal has been stalking him.

I like this OP/ED a good bit
It's a bit airy but accelerates well

Get ready to be absolutely lost for a while
Because despite it being a good five or six years since the first season
We're getting no recap!

Even I don't really know how easily I'll be able to remember who's who and what was going on.

It's been forever since we've seen this

oh yeah i'm remembering the premise now

Some basic things I remember
This Meeden they're talking about is what the weird interdimensional world of the series calls Earth
I think there might be some big empire that's conquered various worlds that's turned their attention towards Earth now.

The manga for this went on a long hiatus
About the same time the first anime was wrapping up
Like I'm talking years of hiatus.
It was a Shounen Jump manga that was doing reasonably well for a week-to-week serialization but even then, I don't think anyone expected it to resume after the hiatus went on for so long.
But a year or two back it came back from the hiatus, though did move to one of Shounen Jump's less-frequent serialization magazines.
I guess they finally got enough material to merit a new season of it.

Oh, was it on a really long hiatus?
That explains why this anime was gone for so long

The mangaka had some kind of unspecified health complication that made her unable to draw.
It's not impossible that's also just a public way to say she got pregnant and needed time to raise her child. It's definitely a foil Japanese people have used before for situations like that.
But of course, mangaka is an incredibly stressful job, especially in the week-to-week department, so maybe it's also best to just assume it exacerbated health complications until things got serious.

The art for this series exists in a weird cross-section of managing to make a lot of characters that are visually distinct, but also seem to all blend together.
There's just also So. Many. Characters in it.
It's hard to keep track of everyone.

Like we've seen a good few dozen characters this episode alone and we haven't even caught sight of the main trio.

We have gotten a fair amount of Jin though and he's by far the coolest so worth

Aside from Jin, I don't remember a lot of these characters.

There was that girl with the orange hair and the guy with the cross-hatch eyes that I remember from the first season
And that one dull-blonde boy with horns, he's an alien from the first season when the humanoid Neighbours invaded Earth that got left behind because his people are just a bunch of jerks.

Oh the protagonists didn't appear at all.

I don't even remember where they are at the moment hah hah

I'm not too sure what to expect from this one
It might be feel-good-y "I helped fix your mental/emotional problems" but it might also be "I'm a jerk and toyed with your emotional struggles"

Seems vaguely supernatural at the moment

Yeah I thought the girl in the movie looked like this mayonnaise girl

It's pretty clear what the aesop of this girl's condiment eyes is.
Her mom's obviously become addicted to the fame her daughter has
And the money that comes with it.

She seems to have a lot of trouble at home.

This is definitely rather unnerving
The metaphor of the condiments running empty is kind of comedic, but the meaning behind it is a lot.

The real person who needs help with their emotional and mental problems is this mom honestly

Well it's not really a recap but we're being briefed on the premise.

Oh he's working on mimicry.

Oh is he going to mimic clothes

More of a Ditto than a slime at that point

Pink oni had a better taste in clothes
Though yeah everything was pretty extravagant

The cape aside, Rimuru's outfit is pretty nice
Looks like a respectable vest outfit
The cape is a bit doofy to me hah hah

He's really built up his town big

I really like the goblins
They're a fun cast of characters.

That's about what I expected from that mushroom.

I guess Rimuru will have to lay down some force with this testy lady

Looks like a big minion fight.

Yeah, these monsters are picking fights with Rimuru because he associates with humans and is a lowly slime
Even if Rimuru's vassals can't handle it I'm sure he could do clean-up fine.

yeah if they can handle it, I don't think Rimuru would even need to be invovled

Judging from the synopsis this one might get a bit dreamwalker-y
Which is what I meant by guessing it could be a little surreal

It's actually ... just an egg
The synopsis talked about her getting an egg but I thought it was going to be more the look of an egg than an actual egg.

Man I wish I could just sleep all day like that.

The animation in this is really clean too.
Like it's just nice to look at.

Being real in a world of someone else's dream would probably suck
They get to employ dream logic but you're stuck with your mortal body.

I guess she's either got guilt from not helping her friend as she was being bullied
Or was cheering on the bullying herself
Looks like the more predictable option

I wonder if severe heterochromia like that would result in a lot of bullying
Japanese schools are awfuly places for bullying after all.

This other girl looks like of meek but she seems to have quite a forceful personality

Well that wasn't as comfy as we probably could've hoped for

But it was really cool and interesting to me at least.
The animation was super clean and they played with dream weirdness really well.
I'm definitely interested in seeing more.
