Anno
jesus that's so much anime it's very intimidating i need to catch up to Dungeon S3 and then watch that Kamisama ni Natta Hi i'm actually very interested in
100 man golden kamui mahouka assault lily tonikaku
Anno
DanMachi's been fun Kamisama's been comfy so far but I'm waiting for the KEY shoe to drop. We're only two episodes in on Kamisama if you can get watching it I can neg you when we're good for watching it.
Anno
I think I can actually do that No flakin this time i'll watch ep 1 and 2 before tomorrow night
>>891200 If you're around for watching it we can probably watch it. I don't think we've been holding off watching it for any particular reason it's just been overlooked.
Anno
Also you should watch Tonikaku Kawaii Bang you'd totally writhe in pain watching it in a good way.
Anno
Never have I seen a character more literally suitable to the title of blood knight than this girl. She really just wants to carve things up with her sword.
Anno
I always wonder how much of this kind of worldbuilding is thought out in advance in the series, and how much is plotted out after the first volume or two sells well and it looks like the series might be able to last a while. Like I can picture the first volume being like up until they kill that troll and return to their world.
Or maybe this has its roots in being a web novel, like almost every isekai novel these days. In which case the author could've been writing for a long time without any idea of when they'd get popular.
It's kind of a strange premise kinda game-like I think isekai does kinda need somehting like that to stand out these days there's so much of it
Anno
This old guy's really drunk the monarchy Kool-Aid. I kinda like the glasses girl for being so absolutely tone deaf to social tact to just tell him "Yeah monarchs suck"
Anno
POUT
Anno
>>891207 By my understanding almost every big isekai these days starts off as a web novel that gets published to some online reading app. So what we get in anime form is already basically a cultivation of popular serial novelizations of a cultivation of popular web novels.
Yeah, kind of. On the other hand it's more of a survival of the populist since it relies on it being popular on the web novel apps to make a splash. And as any number of even western young adult fiction can show you, popularity doesn't necessitate quality writing.
Plus more than quality writing you also tend to get plot and characters that serve as power trips or the like.
Anno
Either way the ease of publication to these reader apps and interest in isekai means there's a bit of a shotgun approach to writing, just each shotgun pellet is an individual author and they're all trying to see what sticks.
That's kinda funny that they have an isekai mill basically
Anno
Honestly the entire Japanese publishing industry is kind of a content mill, and has been for a while. At least when it comes to light novels. The sheer amount of series that get started and last only maybe a year or so tops is astounding. Or stuff like Shounen Jump that usually begin like four or five new weekly series a year only to some times not even have any of them make it past the first year of serialization.
Historically, the Russians got trounced really badly in this war. It's one of the reasons Japan believed that Heaven was on their side when they were building their empire And also the military conflict where the Japanese battleship-heavy naval doctrine was born.
Anno
Yeah, the groundwork of the fanatical Japanese military was already in place for the Russia-Sino war. And that kind of fanaticism tends to only snowball if it provides results. The fact that the Japanese infantry were able to outright charge at the Russians like lunatics and still press them back despite losses only reinforced their belief that it was the right way to fight, hah hah.
Anno
Sniper-kun really is a psychopath. He seems insulted more than anything that his ani would presume he feels guilt over killing.
Oh Shiraishi isn't going with them. I thought he'd rebuke them and tag along anyway. But it looks like he's going solo.
My money's on -- Oh nevermind he's having another moment of good character. And living up to his promise to Sugimoto to look after Asripa.
Anno
Bad omens!
Anno
When Shiraishi didn't go along with them immediately I figured he was gonna get caught by Sugimoto's group heading north as he returned south and help guide them more accurately towards Asripa. But it's nice that he's continuing to be the good uncle to Asripa.
Well that shot of the reindeer breaking right at the end was it going from a neutral omen to the bad omen Asripa described earlier. Reindeer bone breaking, even. So it's literally a bad omen!
Anno
I hope her army superiors don't try to push her into a conflict with onii-sama again. Not because she's a danger to him but she's a nice girl who doesn't deserve to go up against onii-sama.
Anno
We've already seen the big showdown between her and onii-sama/Miyuki that was teased in the OP though so I'm not too worried.
Yeah they're cute. I generally prefer twintails when they're situated more around the back of the head like that rather than on the sides.
Anno
Thick eyebrows are cute too.
Anno
I guess in fairness, when you add espresso to chocolate it's only supposed to be a slight amount. Seems like she went for a full cup's worth of coffee in her chocolate.
Anno
Hah hah He tried his best to stealthfully dodge it.
I guess she was trying to go for a European style to match Valentine's Day, but that's more of a German/Swiss outfit than anything. Maybe it's supposed to tie in with Swiss chocolate too then. It's a cute outfit for sure but it doesn't really jive with anything, yeah.
Anno
This Colonel lady is really on her ass about every little thing.
Yeah, it definitely is a name you could see nisioisin coming up with. Though his would be some really clever play on words because that's what all his names are.
Anno
Oh that girl's weapon broke delivering the final blow.
Hah hah that shot of the monster there was a real Eva-poi shot.
Anno
Her old sword! The last time we saw it, it was run through her sempai. And now it's hidden inside this monster.
The monster Yuyu and her dead sempai fought also had a kind of chain motif too, if I remember correctly. Yeah you can see them in those flashback images.
I guess this is the monster her sempai died against after she took critical injuries trying to restrain Yuyu
Anno
That battle-axe gun combo the grey twintailed girl has is pretty cool.
Anno
>Lilies are humans that have become Huge I mean it's poignant if you distance the thing it's trying to convey from the actual words. But those are some pretty silly proper nouns involved.
Anno
The green-haired girl seems to have a cool ability though. Looks like she can move at hyperspeed or like run on any surface real fast.
Anno
So they gotta play hot potato with a magic nuke until it gets enough power to blow up a monster Fun mechanic.
Anno
Ah yeah I saw Riri's weapon fractured earlier when she was trading blows with Yuyu I guess launching the nuke will be enough to break it and she'll have to take up either Yuyu's current weapon or the old one they rescued from the monster.
I have a feeling this is as far as we'll ever see them go
Anno
>>891281 I did my snooping a couple weeks back, and while this is pretty much as far as we literally see them go (aside from some very hard to argue-against content in the tankobon-only bonus content), the manga does actually make it very clear without showing anything that they do bone.
Oh, implied sex is fine I'm just happy that he'll eventually not be scared to touch his wife
Anno
Yeah. I don't really know the timeline of where we are versus where stuff happens in the manga but we might get a conclusive moment like that for the finale of the anime season.
Anno
Also it's kind of good he's actually being a bit more firm about this idea of moving somewhere bigger with her. So far he's been a bit of a pushover as long as she's happy. And living in a bigger place -would- make things better for the both of them, even if she doesn't really think like that.
Anno
Yeah no kidding. Imagine just breaking the news about having gotten married to your mother over the phone. Not even that you were getting married, but had gotten married. I mean my mother's pretty capable of taking things in stride but even she'd probably be flabbergasted if I got in contact with her and had suddenly gone from living a bachelor's life to being married.
Anno
His mom's pretty sharp, eh. Yeah I was gonna say that too. I guess his intelligence runs in the family.
Anno
It's kind of weird that his parents live in Nara though. Those sisters that run the bathhouse are highschool friends of his, right? Or maybe middleschoo, I don't really remember. If they run a family bathhouse here in Tokyo then how can they be friends of his from his highschool or middleschool years if he grew up in Nara?
Anno
Tsukasa acts all cool and collected for the most part, but she is a real romantic at heart.
I think she's more or less the same as him, she's just a little less emotive.
Anno
Wow dude what pictures are you taking of your wife.
Anno
Reminds me of the bus we drove around Japan in when I visited when I was in highschool. Though I guess it's just like any kind of coach bus you can find worldwide. But the last time I really rode in one was when I was on that trip, so buses like this remind me of Japan.
Anno
We've dropped the tonikaku it looks like. But at least he keeps finding opportunities to call her cute.
Anno
I'm kinda like her. Even a straight, kinda stiff seat can be enough for me to sleep comfortably. I think the only thing I really need is a bit of cushioning, otherwise stiff plastic, metal, wood, whatever, distracts me too much to sleep.
Anno
Taking a lovey-dovey honeymoon across Japan does sound nice though. How envious.
