I was gonna mention that between yesterday and tonight there were like seven shows to watch. So either yesterday or today would have had to only have three shows.
It seems like basketball in general was bigger back then.

I doubt it was ever more than a fad thing in Japan. I mean I'm sure there's still plenty of basketball teams and leagues like this still. But like Japan's big thing was, is,and probably will be baseball. I think they've got a decent soccer following too though.
Basketball's a bigger thing in parts of Asia like China. The NBA's been making aggressive plays to set up viewship in China because of stuff like that.
Yeah, that sounds about right. I could see China really liking it for whatever reason.

That woudl -would be kind of cute if Sora's mom cam to coach for them. From the sound of things earlier in the series though it sounded like she's got some kind of terminal illness though.
I think the MC team are the ones in the lead at the moment. They had a runaway lead earlier on but when that injured player from the other team came on and they got their shit together it started slimming down.

The three stooges on their team in particular seem real bad with those obvious fouls. Stuff like grabbing at the arms of the other players, that seems like something you obviously shouldn't do. I guess as remediated punks they can't help it though.
I'm sure that's what you get when your team is made up of people who were half-delinquient before you formed it. He really whipped some rought people into shape.

Oh maybe she'll survive whatever's eating away at her long enough to be a coach. Maybe not being able to physically lead them through stuff will make it harder but she's still a practiced basketball player. Her advice would probably be invaluable.

Honestly yeah the MC seems like too much of a sap to abandon his friends as party members just because they underperform in a tournament. I think the blonde-haired guy's got the right notion.
Though if there's nothing to lose by trying, might as well. A good competition always rouses the spirits.

Everyone in this show always seems to know what nth son or daughter of who someone is. I guess realistically that's probably the thing petty nobles would concern themselves with but it sounds pretty silly to me.

Magic is against the rurus so the people that are trained decently in physical combat have the advantage here. I think his two concubines both have some small magic ability but not enough to overly rely on it. The MC's a magic nuke so he's probably never really trained in a martial ability.

Apparently the episode modifies a scene or two of the chapters from the webtoon it's adapting. I saw some people throwing a hissyfit about it earlier.

They also posted the original scene from the webtoon and man. I'd forgotten how janky the art for this series used to be in its earlier chapters hah hah. It eventually got really high quality but a lot of the characters in its earlier chapters are all over the place quality-wise.

Quite a lot, yeah. You can kinda get the gist of it from the environment design in these earlier tower levels too. They're all monochrome rooms without much to furnish them.

They've kinda trimmed some of the slower stuff so far. The adaptation's been going at a pretty fast pace to presumably cover the first chapter of the series in the first series. I guess they couldn't cut this out since it's more important to the relations building between the main characters.

That scene where they visited Endrossi in bed was what they changed from the webtoon. Originally it was just Baam that visited her and he played a bit meaning -meaner of a game with her to get the signature. The person I saw getting upset was that way because they took it as shipping Endrossi and the boy with the swords.
Though to me it just looked like he was clumsily repeating what Kuhn told him to

I hope they can get more of this greenlit and animated before too long. There's some really amazing worldbuilding and widening of the series after the first major chapter closes.
Also Tower of God is far from complete hah hah. It's just got some certain story beats that serve as chapter end moments. And I can kinda visualize where they'd end anime seasons based off of those.
I read what was available of the series like eight or ten years back. Kinda petered out since new chapters were slow coming. From what I've gathered the webtoon's been steadily chugging along since then though.

Tower of God's anime will be an interesting case study in whether it gets more though. This isn't really a show being animated for Japan, ToG's popularity extends internationally, especially in South Korea since it's a manhua webtoon. That's why it's a Crunchyroll original, it probably wouldn't have ever gotten an anime without an international funder like it. So it getting an okay for more adaptations is probably gonna come more from if Crunchyroll deems the streaming viewership worth investing in more, as opposed to the usual anime metrics of BD sales and stuff like that.

Hah hah This is one of those things that sounds obviously clunky in English that's much more normal in Japanese. Japanese is much easier to refer to things in a statement without actually referring to something. Where as in English you pretty much always have to at least slightly infer the subject of the statement.
That Chiri-poi girl from Hime's class looks even more like her now that she's a teenager.
I wonder if the twist of these flash-forward bits isn't going to be that Gotou's passed away and left Hime an orphan but this house that has all this stored-away stuff in it is stuff for Hime's mother prepared by the granddad. That's where his painting of Hime's mother was stored after all.

I think it's also kind of a slighly male-tilted yuri show. Of course that doesn't mean girls can't enjoy it but it does things a bit more for the catering for male viewers than some other shows might.
I mean I enjoyed Saki but it suuuuuuuuuuuuure did start slow I only stuck with it for the first 12 or so eps because of boredom

I remember really liking how flashy it made Mahjong appear. Even note -not knowing the actual rules or whatnot it was still a fun watch.
I did a recent re-watch of the original and then Side-A recently having played a lot of Mahjong and it was kinda neat to actually understand what was going on. Though there's still a lot of staging going on and impractical play in play.
