Do you still not want to do the Souma season or is there another reason it hasn't been coming up. I don't have a particular drive to watch it but if we're not going to then I'd rather know so I can take that into account.
I haven't made up my mind completely but it's mostly beacuse I still need to track it down and download it.
brand new animal! okay lets start!
Anno
It got ripped by HorribleSubs when it was airing. I dunno how long stuff is accessible by XDCC but if they keep it downloadable through it after stuff is no longer in the spotlight then it should be doable.
Either way tomorrow should bring with it enough shows for a night's worth of watching anyway.
Anno
I still don't get why this OP is so quieeeet. It's a pretty rich OP and the full versions you can find online are a good bit louder.
>>840170 THe sparkles when she threw the ball especially reminded me of KLK
Anno
Her shapeshifting always gets a bit sparkly but I guess with everything else going on it makes that really apparent.
Anno
>Some dodo beastmen to go extinct Like beast like beastmen I guess.
Anno
Yeah, I think tanuki, raccoon dogs, have more biologically in common with bears than they do with what western cultures call raccoons. Though raccoons and tanuki kinda fill a similar bio niche, biologically they're quite distinct.
月
i'll be back home in a
月
little bit im tired of getting dropped so quickly on my post ;_;
Anno
Sounds good! We can probably do a Honzuki episode in there once you're back.
Humans seem to have pretty regularly been the more awful lot in this world. We have seen some prejudiced and awful beastmen but the humans consistently just treat beastmen like garbage.
Anno
Michiru just wants to play sports. Doesn't have time for all this gambling.
Anno
He seems to be a donkey but it looks like he was more like ... eh, I don't really know my biological categories. Didn't really seem like a donkey when he was younger.
They really did devote this whole episode to baseball.
Anno
Though it does look like in good episodic format they seed the upcoming major conflict within the seemingly one-off episode. After all Michiru is pretty weird even for a beastman.
Anno
Both the OP and ED cut off really abruptly. I feel there could have been better TV cuts of the songs for the show.
Two hours of work a month really isn't even a job it's supplemental income at best
Anno
Well thankfully she's not in a position to need a proper job. Since she's roommating it up.
Anno
Yeah that was pretty resourceful of her. Maybe it was taking advantage of someone's misfortune but as long as you're not using that to make more misfortune, I think that's fine.
Anno
>Monty Python Well that's an unexpected reference for an anime.
>>840194 Not sure when, but some time tonight. We're in the middle of Nami yo Kiitekure right now but we also want to do Yesterday at the least. Not sure if Rika wanted to substitute Honzuki in for Arte or do both though.
月
alright ive got honzuki and yesterday
Anno
... I don't know if hanging a whole salmon on someone's doorknob can be construed in any good way whatsoever.
Anno
They work in a restaurant I'm sure they're at least half familiar with the smell of rotting meat.
Anno
>I'll make my program nice and soft, like a towel Narrator: She won't
Anno
>You're still pretty much an amateur No I'm pretty sure she's entirely an amateur.
Anno
Wow she came prepared. AKURYO TAISEN AKURYO TAISEN
Even if there's no actual occult reason for it having rotten meat dripping from your ceiling is some Seriously Weird Shit. How does something like that even happen/
Anno
I really, really wouldn't want to touch that stuff in the slightest. I don't care if it's not actually cursed meat rotted to the point of liquidation sounds REVOLTING.
ready for honzuki >>840207 i'll try but im really tired
Anno
Books! >>840206 You should grab Arte episode six too then if you think you'll be around for three shows.
Anno
I get it's supposed to show how devoted Main is to being able to read books but I don't think she's been particularly indifferent to the troubles of others. Like I wouldn't say she goes out of her way to help people who are struggling but I think she's been a reasonably empathetic person.
月
i don't think it implies that she would be it's weighing on her conscience as something uncomfortable about this world
she's not able to find comfort in her books because it's unsettling that shows she does care
月
im hesitant to believe gil would be so genki now though i imagine he'd be walking with a limp and somewhat frail from malnutrition and disease having grown up like that
Anno
>>840209 The Head Priest said to her directly something along the lines of being indifferent to the troubles of others and she didn't seem to feel that was contradictory.
>>840210 From the sounds of it the orphans might not have had it luxurious or anything, but things weren't as bad as they are now. It sounded like the kids were kept well enough back before the ... I think it might've been a war? Something caused the cathedral to bleed a lot of its blue-robed nobility and their financial input to the institution. Without the blue-robes to adminstrate and pay for food the grey-robed orphans started getting the short stick.
月
this has been a low fantasy setting for the most part up til now, but the stuff with the orphans seems uncharacteristically optimistic things are going off without a hitch
i feel like a lot of stuff would probably be going wrong here
Anno
Yeah. She's been going through a lot of frustrations that need problem-solving recently with getting involved with the cathedral. Could be from a meta-observation of the story it could be nice to have something work out for her without too much grief.
Anno
She's gone from being chewed out for her mistakes by Benno to being chewed out by the Head Priest. No matter where she goes she seems stuck with a bassy-voiced man chewing her out.
Anno
A whole festival dedicated to throwing staining fruit at couples by kids is really Carnival-poi.
Wouldn't magic eating tomatoes help with her terminal illness?
Anno
Ideally, yeah, but these are those plants that grow dangerously fast I feel there was something else about them but I can't quite remember. The trombe were dangerous for some reason though.
Didn't that also attack people if it got big enough and isn't this a terrible waste of food
Anno
Yeah, it would be. Maybe these tau fruit aren't too palatable or useable for food. Or their part of the world has them come into fruition in an almost overwhelming quantity and they wouldn't be able to eat all of them anyway.
Anno
Good going you blue-haired git. He talked big last episode about also having come to the cathedral from outside its usual nobility membership but he still assumes she's only playing their game.
>>840224 i dont think you caught it the other day but i dropped you an email recently ive had something on my mind, if you don't mind when you get the time to share your insights id really appreciate it
Anno
Oh here the PV skit is talking about the fruit being good for her illness. I don't think Benno was offering a particularly good rebute to the discovery though.
This entire corner of the house reeks of paint fumes and I can't even open my window since it's 2C outside. It's giving me a headache. I hate all this.
this is a pretty sweet show it helps me calm down a bit which is something kinda hard for me to do usually
Anno
It's a pretty low-key drama. The social struggles are pretty human problems and never feel too insurmountable or ridiculous. Makes for a relaxing watch.
月
i think i'll shove off while im in a calm mood and try to get some sleep
Anno
Okey dokes, thanks for being around. Have a nice sleep.
From a show starting with Y to one with A I've gotta jump the entirety of my Downloads folder for this.
Anno
Guess it's stuff like this taht -that shows how guilds were kind of the precursor to modern unions. Though more trade-oriented than general workers' rights.
Anno
For all the people she's won over with her hard work there sure are a lot that still HAET WOMAN
Anno
She managed to generate an all-out brawl. How impressive.
I like them too, yeah. It's better than when she's got her skirt hiked up for cleaning hah hah
Some Renaissance fashion can be pretty corny but hers is tasteful and nice.
Anno
He's a curt man but a good master. His reaction to them giving her a tough mission to remain an apprentice wasn't to cut loose but immediately assess how to get her capable of acheving it.
Anno
She really is a bit of a bulldozer for these social difficulties though hah hah
Anno
These massive art projects from the Renaissance are cool. Seeing how they would have needed all the manpower and coordination to complete is pretty crazy.
Those kinds of huge undertakings are good I guess people had less to do back hten
Anno
Kinda? It was a mix of a lot of circumstances, one being that the Italian city-states experienced an enormous influx of wealth, such that patrons could easily pay for a burgeoning art economy. The Renaissance came off the Black Death, too, so the European population in general was at a considerable low, meaning less food needed to be cultivated to provide for them. And the era also was a technological boom in addition to a cultural one, so like with agricultural revolutions, they could sustain more people off less people working as farmers. So there were more people that could apply for and train as arts tradespeople like this.
Anno
The elements that lead up to the cultural shift into the Renaissance were pretty interesting. My fascination with fantasy has made me really interesting in worldbuilding and how periods like this arise naturally. So I'm always a bit interested in the sociological reasons for why stuff like this emerges.
>>840288 I think it was still possible for women to crossdress back then. I think dressing properly for sports may be crossdressing in that day and age.
Anno
Yeah that's fair. She did dress up like a boy during the Carnival episode.
Back then even putting on a pair of trousers as a woman would have probably been considered dressing improper for your sex as a woman.
