Those kinds of earrings are more common in those parts of the world though. Tanjirou from Kimetsu no Yaiba had similar earrings too, though they weren't as thick. I don't understand the significance but I guess I'm less surprised by them being there.

Yeah, but I think it was a reason Hanako Black incited. From the flashback to when Hanako was alive he seemed to be suffering some kind of abuse. I'm getting the feeling Hanako Black might've been inciting Hanako into killing him, or maybe was trying to get Hanako to kill himself, and it becoming a murder-suicide ended up being a happy accident.

But maybe this is such an isolated enclave that they just don't know about the events of the broader world.
