This other short player on their team looks really effeminate.
I've been thinking they're a girl but if they're playing on the boy's team they've got to be, well, a boy.

Though I guess none of the OP shows them playing with the team so maybe it's a girl in a team manager position.
It's weird that they'd be lumped in the ED with all the guys playing on the court though.

The aesthetic grit of this series kind of makes me draw parallels with Dorohedoro, which we'll be getting an anime of next season.
From my limited knowledge the two series are pretty different in execution though, but the setting they both take place in I think have very similar aesthetic design.

There's a real Uncanny Valley feel for me from the kid's talking.
From how he just opens his mouth but doesn't mouth the syllables to how his voice has a bit of a synth'd sound to it.
Everything about that throws me off.

The girl from the last arc reminded me more of a scorpion or spider than a crab.
But I guess anything is close enough to terrorize when it's a traumatic memory.

She reminded me of those scary mikus you see.

I don't have a Miku but maybe this is close enough.

I don't trust this girl for a second but she's pretty cute.

I wonder if you've got a gunhead, if a process like this is a bit like getting a haircut and wash at a barber.

All these aggressive herbivore animals keep pushing themselves onto Legosi.
It's really funny how much more like a prey animal he is than all the actual prey animals.

But at the same time his shyness and social anxiety is really endearing to me.

The series uses the animal characters as a way to talk about human problems, translated into a "what if" world where the complexities of human interaction were -are between the animal species.
It's kind of absurd but I like the way it kind of throws me out of my comfort zone.

Oh I think this is a different ED than the one we got last episode.
At least I remember the previous one being more cheery and less ominous.

Hm, I would say there's really a broad difference between Beastars and Punpun.
I could probably write up a lot on my thoughts on both series but this is anime time not Tilde's Literary Criticism time and if I'm gonna be a snippy, I don't think it's something you want to chew on anyway, eh.

Good to see Enterprise is slowly coming 'round to being a normal human bean.

This episode is supposed to have a good bit of QUALITY for the side characters

The series has had bits of QUALITY throughout already.
Though it's also had some moments of surprisingly detailed animation.
There was a bit from two or three episodes back where a girl out of focus in the mess hall was dancing about and dumped a huge blob of ketchup on another ship's fish and chips.

It's kind of weird how things can be inconsistent about the QUALITY like that.

Oh those kompeito are nice.
They're just shaped sugar candies with a bit of colouring and shaping but they're fun to have as a treat.

Lots of side character activity this episode

It's nice to see them all out and about.
It fleshes out the world to seem more populated than just the boats we see out in combat.

I could see the need to put in all these other boats this episode as why we're getting a lot of QUALITY this episode though.
Instead of dedicating themselves to a select number of characters and what their on-model look is like, having to keep track of all the designs is gonna be a headache.

Yeah, it's mostly the unimportant characters getting the quality.

It's kind of weird what gets censored and what doesn't.

So THAT'S what Akagi saw when she got a look upskirt on her when they fought last episode.

They're being kind of funnily lazy with the censoring too.
Just white puffs of smoke that move around clearly shaped around the body parts they're obscuring.
There isn't even an attempt to make it seem natural!

I wonder if they're touch up the QUALITY in this episode when they do the decensoring for the BDs too.

Azur Lane does have some pretty cute character designs though, even if the outfit design is brazenly an appeal to fanservice at times.

Hm, I wonder if they'll resolve the divide between Britain/America and Japan/Germany before the end of the season or if that'll be the big finale.
I was assuming eventually they'd have to put their differences behind them to deal with a more severe Siren threat but maybe they'll just tease at something like that at the end of the season or something.

They may not.
They're more or less unfriendly in the game too.

Apparently the person writing the Azur Lane anime's story is the guy who wrote Demonbane.
YoStar's head is a big fan of Demonbane and so wanted him to do the plot for the Azur Lane anime.

And if the laser rifles they use for shooting are designed to replicate the weight of real rifles, I bet it does get pretty exhausting to hold them steady for long periods of time.
It would require some pretty good stamina.

This show turned out surprisingly comfy

It's not bad, but I do feel it's a bit mediocre compared to some of the other cute girls doing cute things shows we've had of late.
Like Machikado Mazoku was really fun to watch for me and I was engrossed in it along with relaxing to it.
This one's kind of just the latter.

The soundscape if they had to share a clubroom would be interesting.
