Yeah I was thinking that too.
It's not as bad in one sense.
But the animation here is also beyond lazy in a different kind of way.

I think it's an interesting change in style.
It's stylistic enough to be interesting.

Sure, if the animation was actually good.
But there's a tonne of repeated backgrounds or just no backgrounds whatsoever.
The frames are both choppy and inconsistent.
It's so obvious where they're saving budget rather than being an actual experimental artstyle.

Rather than saving budget, I think it's a cheap way to do this highly dynamic animation without spending money they don't have.
I doubt this shitty shounen adaptation has enough money for sakuga.

This is one of the most popular series in Shounen Jump at the moment.
It's on par with Hero Academia at the least, which has had a number of sakuga moments.
Sure they got Bones to do Hero Academia but I'd imagine they could have put out some money for big climax moments for other popular series as well.

I haven't seen anything from Black Clover that suggests that it has a particularly large amount of money or effort devoted to it.

Neither have I, which is what I'm saying.
Not that I care but it seems weird that two popular series get different treatment.
Maybe the executive staff at Shounen Jump have good tastes in a sense.

I expected at the start of this series for this faerie to have things much more together than she ended up having them.
She seemed like the kind of immortal, super-capable advisor type but instead she's kind of clumsy.
