Also this series keeps Bunny Girl in its title but in the novels the part of the title after "Seishun Buta Yarou wa" changes with the specific girl the novel focuses on.
The stuff in this episode and this arc comes from a novel which loosely translates as Rascal Does Not Dream Of A Petite Devil Kouhai.

The MC in this show's a great kind of flippant.

Can't he just like, fix the misunderstanding, go back in time, date the girl, and then fix it in a way that doesn't invovle messing up his relationship.

Well things are already starting to snowball beyond his influence.
And it looks like the kouhai is happy to have this continue to ruin his life so he'll be working from a disadvantage.

He's also stuck with that fundamental MC flaw of being unable to turn down someone who wants help.
