I could see it beign something like this guy being so terrified of their (probably) dad that he's worried about what would happen if he didn't have anyone to abuse.
Like a sort of "it's better to stay and get abused than get caught after escaping and get what's REALLY coming to me".

Yeah I've been wondering that too.
Shio's mom could be the "aunt" Satou's always refering to who was probably in the garbage bags.
Either way we know she killed someone and Shio's mom is probably a reasonable assumption here.

The manga had a pretty exciting moment recently.
So maybe it's winding down for its finale.

Chio's kind of lame in a cute sort of way.

In profile shots the blush looks like it's only on the tip of her nose.
It kind of makes it look like she's got perpetual hay fever.

Then like I said, Hataraku's kind of comedic a fair bit.
And something like Isekai Maou is kind of funny when it's not being too lewd or fantasy wish fulfilment.

There's also another show that's airing this seasont -season that I think is comedic in nature that we're not watching.

Chio's pretty impressive for a totally normal girl.
