Grand Blue is totally about diving.

I'd like to at least watch it tonight, but it might be a bit too high energy.

Lord of Vermillion is probably some action-y thing that probably feels really chuunibyou-y, if my hunch is correct.
I really don't know anything about it, but I'd bank on it not being all that comfy.

Happy Sugar Life is about a high school yandere girl that kidnaps a little girl and literally kills people to keep her to herself.
I don't know where it lands on the scale of edginess to black comedy, which is why I put a question mark next to it.

I think this episode has been a lot more entertaining than the first.
This has been a very good episode.

Well I expected them to drop her best friend in the first episode.
Was kind of surprised when they didn't.
Chio's good but she needs others to rally off against.

They used their bitchiness to uncover the truth.
Though Hosokawa's kindness factor is still through the roof.

Oh, Rika, are you still uncertain if you'll be around tomorrow, or was that "might be" more of a "I'm definitely not gonna have a chance to be around" kind of one.

Should I watch the Gran Blue anime if I never played the game

This isn't the GranBlue anime; that aired in full seasons back.
The show in mention tonight was Grand Blue.
I know that might be confusing.

To answer your question though, it's not terrible, though towards the later bits of the GranBlue anime it gets more fanservice-y to people who are familiar with the game.
If you're curious, maybe watch the first couple episodes and see if the plot grips you.
The animation is pretty solid too, if that matters for you.
