The flip flap between the violent and grimdark parts of this show and the absurdity parts are kind of jarring at times.

Toruso, still not dead despite showing up in episode one.
He felt kind of mook-y but he's kept around.

A lot of the character stuff they're referencing feels like stuff only people playing the game would get.

There's a small coffee chain here called Balzaac's.

We went from a swimsuit episode into a geopolitics episode.

The swimsuits are going crazy.
Also Beast Boy's just been a burnt statue for the past few minutes.

Well that was peculiar.

Considering how meta this show has been in the past I'm convinced they turned the literal fanservice episode into a metaphorical fanservice episode intentionally.
There were a whole bunch of characters this episode you'd only really appreciate if -appreciate fully if you were a fan of the franchise already.

this is a fun show

i kinda want to try the game because of the anime tbh
