watch megalo box first and i'll be along for whatever's left
It would be funny if Joe takes this through all the rounds and then wins in the judging because of those dumb bullshit boxing judgings. This totally isn't the kind of series to do that but it would be really funny to me.
Yeah, they're almost -too- good. Like they have super clean design and really good animation, yeah. But it does create a bit of a dissonance.
Anno
the animation is so smooth
Anno
>>495955 Yeah it looks kind of strange with these 60fps mechs rendered next to the hand drawn characters and objects But it's not really noticeable when it's only mechs fighting
This series has taken a dramatic tonal shift. The first few seasons were about him recovering and becoming a normal student. He was a crazy killer child soldier from afganistan or something like that, so domesticating him was a big part of the school part of the series. So him stepping off of school grounds into the real world again was a big symbolic point they just made.
>>495986 it seems kind of strange how he's going back to war maybe another experience will help him reconcile his PTSD or something it will probably just fuck him up more though
this is episode 6 right?
Anno
It also kind of strikes as a "you can't run from your past forever" kind of idea. At least with my limited knowledge of the series.
They've got like a double love triangle thing going on because of it. There's the love triangle of Charles, Teresa, and Tada, and then the one of Charles, Alec, and Ijuin.
Anno
a love labyrinth
Anno
Hah hah hah. The two of them kind of have a similar vibe, don't they.
tada is here like >i wish i was at home taking photos
Anno
Honestly though Alec is quite the steal herself though.
Anno
She keeps walking in front of his camera.
Anno
That was a quick gathering of a storm.
Anno
In stormy climates, stormfronts can really blow in super fast. Probably not -that- fast, but they can definitely take you by surprise if you're not paying much attention.
And the site fixed itself so I don't have to do anything. good times
Anno
I wasn't sold on the otouto's characterization in the first bit, but it seems like they have a good idea of his character actually. That sort of whimsy, cloud cuckoolander way of talking is more his style.
Anno
Wow he said he'd only ever do it once, but now he's gonna do it again. LIAR.
It does seem like the voices are way louder than the rest of the audio. >>496044 She's not lazy she's just stockpiling all her NRG for running. That's how she's so fast!
Anno
Oh Spe-chan is fat again. I guess they've got to run all the way to their training arc location.
Maybe they would have gotten there on time if SOMEBODY DIDN'T STEAL THE MAP
Anno
Poor Trainer-san.
Anno
I'm getting reminded, for no particular reason, of the continental horse racing that they did in Steel Ball Run. These racing derbys are fun and all, but I'd love to see a long, marathon-esque race like that in something. They're so adventure romance.
Spe-chan is all fat again. But nobody else is. Did she finish off everyone else's dinner or something?
Anno
Maybe she just doesn't have as good a metabolism as the rest of them.
There's this really bad balancing the "rushing" kind of sound effects here. Like the crowd's roar in the previous scene, and the sounds of their footsteps and fabric rustling. I wonder who fucked this up.
Yeah the crowd cheering here sounds so distorted. Usually the sound effects in this show are really well balanced, maybe they had an intern working on this episode?
Anno
Yeah, I don't know. At least the other sounds are nice. OST and voice lines are nice and clear.
Anno
HA YA I
Anno
Ah yup. I was worried this was gonna happen.
Anno
oh no she twisted her ankle
Anno
Hah hah Trainer-san's lolipops are designed with horseshoes in them.
I'm surprised she wasn't screaming in pain if she fractured her lower leg while running and kept running on it. >>496095 Feels like there's not really enough episodes left for Suzuka to recover, wonder if this is gonna stay as the ED?
Anno
Oh they's swapped up the ED too. Good touch.
Anno
>>496094 This is probably a Suzuka charasong or something. I'd expect they'll be back to the normal ED next week.
We've got four-five episode left if they want the last episode to be reserved for her to be running with Spe-chan. I could see them doing a rehab arc in that amount of time.
>>496096 Oh yeah, good point, this is probably just a single episode thing. It fit the seriousness of the situation better than the normal ED would have for sure.
I kind of thought it would be weird for one of the main protagonists to go off to america halfway through the show, I guess this is how they're gonna keep the cast together!
Anno
Yeah. Plus it shakes up the narrative a bit from SoL and derbies. It's nothing revolutionary but it's still good writing.
Plus this gives Spe-chan a good reason to start taking this stuff more seriously, too. >>496101 I feel like sports anime don't usually take injuries as seriously or realistically as they should, but I've yet to see if this one is really any different. A fractured leg could take up to a year before it's healed enough and you're back in practice enough to run normally again. If she recovers enough to just have a friendly race with spe-chan that would be cool.
Anno
I don't think she'd be out of commission for a full year, they might apply some fiction suspension of reality to have her heal up and out of rehab to have her run with Spe-chan before leaving for America.
