I think it's a VERY BAD END world line with an evil Okabe.

But honestly I actually know nearly nothing about it.

The dark untold story of Steins;Gate that leads with the eccentric mad scientist Okabe, struggling to recover from a failed attempt at rescuing Kurisu. He decides to give up and abandons his lively scientist alter ego, in pursuit to forget the past. When all seems to be normal, he is seemingly pulled back into the past by meeting an acquaintance of Kurisu, who tells him that they have begun testing a device that stores the memory of a human and creates a simulation of them with their characteristics and personalities. Okabe begins testing and finds out that the simulation of Kurisu has brought back anguish and some new unexpected tragedies.

Zero is a side story that explores events from the Beta Attractor Field's future that contribute in making the end of the original story possible.

It looks like things are already well on their way though?

Steins;Gate 0 is set on the Beta worldline, the one where Okabe stops SERN by undoing all the D-Mails but fails to stop Kurisu's death. The timeline is pretty much the same up until episode 23. Instead of getting a message from his future self after his first failed attempt to save Kurisu, this Okabe doesn't get any help from his future self and gives up on saving Kurisu and stopping World War III. The Okabe from this worldline is the version who ultimately sends the video message telling his past self how to save Kurisu without losing Mayuri. Steins;Gate 0 is basically what happens after this Okabe gives up and how he eventually learns how to stop Kurisu's death.

Ah, so it's closing that, not really a plot hole, but a leap of faith of sorts that the video message needed from the audience to make sense.

So this one is going to be about saving Kurisu?
Instead of a series all about saving Mayuri.

this series will be when future okabe sends a video to his past self or something
he's no longer a mad scientist because ptsd

I guess there'll be a bit of mental healing for Okabe in the process.
