You see that some times. It looks kind of tacky to translate it straight into "older brother" and like in the sentence. I agree that it's more appropriate but it still works to just use their proper names.

Yeah, I read a book years back with a protagonist who survives a horrible car accident that leaves him with devastating burns.
Goes into detail about what it's like to burn in a fire to the point where you get burn wounds like that too. It's a really horrible way to get injured. Dying that way is horribly unpleasant but living with the wounds from it might be even worse.
