When we were leaving the National Guard camp, we were given a map showing the camp and a-oh yeah that.
Fuck I can't process context right now.

The map is generally a map of the area, the Seminole encampment isn't on it.
The guardsman was snatched away much closer to the guards camp than you are, near the perimeter of it.
There wasn't a trail which is why the team ended up going around the swamp until they found something that could provide information.

I was under the assumption we were heading towards the abduction site and this ended up a diversion.

Thomas always talks like he can hear the external narration.

The narration details the surroundings, what our characters can see.
Thomas is taking in that observation and making a statement on it. Presumably each of our characters are having a thought along the line of what was narrated.
